Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Just one quick question actually..
Plugged phone in last night, this morning it was off and wouldn't turn on. The phone felt quite warm as well so assuming it maybe overheated while charging. (started up when i held down the power and home button together for 10sec)

My question is if this keeps happening. Is there a way that I can get the old Gingerbread software back on the phone?

Luckily it's a Sunday so the sleep in was welcomed. Had this happened tomorrow (my finals start tomorrow). I'd have laughed... then cried.

Just wondering if you have a repair/service center that can carry the above out. Just in case.

Going to try a factory reset and see if things work better after that.

    Thanks a million paul.

    Hi N3lly,

Contact customer care in the am and they will fill you in on the repair options.

    regards

Sorry, if you have poor O2 signal than we are likely not for you. Signal boosters are not legal

Has Tesco Mobile started pushing ICS to Galaxy S2's? Just wanted to check if it was O2 or Tesco Mobile doing so.

Well I remember Paul mentioning a few pages back that they were doing their final 'field tests' of ICS a while back so I'm assuming it's Tesco who are pushing it out.

Having said that 02 might be pushing it out as well but I'm with Tesco so can only give feedback on that side. I'm sure Paul can confirm if they're pushing it out. But I've done everything legally (ie. no rooting).

I'm still waiting for my phone to 'settle' down so i'll report back if when I feel my phone is working ok or whether or not it's working the way it should. As mentioned above some small problems seem to have arisen but they might just be blips.

Hi Paul, seems to be an improvement with the data speeds here. I managed to get speedtest to load which refused to load on the last few occasions. Bearing in mind that I am trying at a different time of the day as normally it would be in the evening so not sure if its a contention issue.

    HI Paul

I had an awful day today for data, I was in Blanch, Finglas and Swords and could barely get on line in any of them. It was just loading and then saying No Internet Available .

Was Blanch & Finglas included in the areas were there was bottleneck problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭grasshopper31

Im normally in a wifi spot so never really was too concerned about data speeds, however, today i wasnt using wifi , was in dublin 9 , my first real experience of tesco data speed -taking ages to load a page  so frustrating....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭GIMP

Same here in Dublin, pages constantly time out, really hope this promised fix works this week. I'm tiring with the data issue

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 n3lly

Quick update for those interested in ICS (Galaxy S2).

Did a hard reset (backed stuff up first).
Installed an app which fixed the wifi issue (kept constantly reconnecting, Wifi fixer is the name of the app).

Put all my apps back on.
Have had zero problems since. In fact the battery seems to be lasting A LOT longer than it was before.

14 hours of moderate use with 30% battery remaining. (I was getting 12-13hours max beforehand)..

All in all very happy with how it's working :)

    Hi Paul,

Is it possible for me to have no access to data until Friday?

I have been trying to set data up on my new ROM since yesterday (Samsung Galaxy S infinitum ICS ROM) with no luck. I think my settings are right - manually entered. (I went to the Tesco website but it refuses to send me a configuration message despite numerous attempts)

However, after checking my Tesco Mobile account I have been charged for data, so it seems something is working - But I cant access twitter, browsing when I switch on data..

No, I cant access web pages, nothing...

When I see my brother later, I will try his 02 sim card in my phone and see if data works... if is does, then it has to be something to do with Tesco... if not, it's obviously something wrong with my phone.

So there is a problem with Tesco Mobile...

Turns out the above settings were the problem. I contacted Tesco Mobile support and they sent me an email with the following:

    Internet Settings:

    Name: TMI Internet APN
    APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    MCC: 272
    MNC: 11
    APN Type : default, supl

    MMS Settings

    Name: TMI MMS APN
    APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    MMSC: http://mmc1/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy: 10.1.11.19
    MMS Port: 8080
    MCC: 272
    MNC: 11
    APN type: MMS

It is working again, but data speeds are very slow.

I was going to sign up to a pay monthly plan today as the prices are ridiculously good compared to the competition (most notably 02 and Vodafone), but I will wait until the data speed issue is hopefully resolved...

Hi Paul.My sister joined as a PAYG customer who would have €10 debited every month and she would get €30 for €10. She topped up yesterday as her next debited payment is not till the 15th but she didn'nt get any free credit. Should she have? Or on this do you only get on debited payment?

    Hi there

This is not a PAYG plan its a Capped Pay Monthly plan. She doesnt have to topup. the payment is taken monthly from her signed up payment arrangement. Any extra topup is above and beyond the 30eur tariff credit she gets for her 10eur. Extra topup does not get bonus credit on this tariff.

Interesting question - the HTC Explorer is 129 on O2 and 149.99 on Vodafone.
    Makes 189.99 certainly look expensive.

    Hi there

Its 2c per MB or part thereof per session. You should set your phone up to hold the session and then you will not get mutliple small sessions like this. You choose "When Available" and not "When Needed" on Nokia style phones. Android and iPhone should hold the session automatically.

What phone do you have and I may be able to help with the setting.
