Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stop, what do u do for a living, write headlines for the Star - I've nothing to fill in after that description :D:D:D:D

I don't wish to get banned for back-seat moderation; but we are straying from Thunderstorm/Convective watching!

And 'twill surely annoy the serious modeller/watchers.

(I'd go to the "after hours" forum if I wasn't already banned )

Here is the chart for around the time the spout was formed. Slightly more shear than the 12Z chart.

I was just to the south of that intense shower. Got side swiped by it and did notice a distinctive hook on the radar. Video camera is recording all day in order to make a timelapse later so will see later if rotation was visible. I've about 3 hours of hard disc space left....at 30gigs per hour!!!

Decent hail storm down here in carlow followed by a rumble or two. It sounded very weird though.

Looking interesting for the next few days. WE have the Cape.. we have the negative LI ... just not the shear. :(

Sunday is the day to keep an eye on especially IMO with the whole country in negative LI values , with -3s in places along with some nice 700-800j of cape! :D

Wind shear is marginal though so hopefully that can improve somewhat on the next run or 2.

Ive been watching this that last few days and its definitely locked onto something. On watching the last few runs roll out it seems the best favoured position to be will be the SE .Storms coming in on the West Coast heading slowly east. So here's my guess for sunday's potential. :)

    Distant rumble in North Kildare.

This is the most interesting weather we've had here in a long time. Thunder still going and large hail stones falling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,184 ✭✭✭Elmer Blooker

Yes another one, I can see it to the north, it will take the same track as the first one so those in west Dublin are in luck, nothing for me :(

    Latest sferics:

    201035.PNG

Seems to be a high concentration over mid Munster region over the last 30 mins. Mick's strike in Waterford showing up to.

I counted 6 or 7 loud thunder claps before I did this video of the hail storm. The lightning each time seemed to be sheet type or maybe I was looking in the wrong direction. The gap between lightning and thunder each time was less than 3 seconds so it was definitely very close.

    Heavy hail in Celbridge

Am sw of arklow at the moment-sky is amazing with mamatus. Can hear distant thunder away to the west.
Can see the anvil of another cell over lugnaquilla to the northheading directly for here. The breeze is directly off the anvil.
Could be here in 40 mins or less.It looks big and I've heard some very faint long rumbles from it already.
