    Hello everyone,

How much would a German 1949 coin be worth today? Anyone know?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 132 ✭✭ow9654

    @gb19815 http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Dollar-1855-Indian-Head-Type-2-Well-Circulated-Coin-REAL-DEAL-/181138980778?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2a2cb97faa
Without pictures, its hard to tell. So I would think in poor undamaged condition would be around €130-150

@ozzz Depends what coins you are talking about. Please specify denomination.

So I recently came across 1 x 100 punt note and 4 x 50 punts. I saw a hundred note go for 500 euro on eBay couple of weeks ago. This was a circulated very good condition note. What could I hope to get, if anything, for one with a little pen or pencil on it?

    Hi,
    This is the note?
    C series- http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Ireland-C-Series-One-Hundred-Pound-Note-22-08-96-Note-/321187032273?pt=UK_Coins_Banknotes_GL&hash=item4ac83d2cd1
To value something properly a picture would be needed but a pen mark shouldn't take down the note majorly, as that note is very collectable because of it's denomination and the fact it was only produced for 1 year
By the sounds of it I would say yours could be around €400 (but don't take my word for it)

Searched on here but no luck.

Is there any truth in the story that certain €100 notes are valuable? If so, what are the criteria for added value? Thanks and apologies for asking such a possibly dumb question. FB

  • Registered Users Posts: 138 ✭✭Fatbiker

According to a PM, they are worth more than face value. How would one get them valued and old? Thanks, FB

Update: the serial numbers start with T. Both notes are in excellent condition. Are they likely to be worth extra?

Hi all. I have a B series £50 note from November 1991. I'm just wondering is worth anything more than face value? It was circulated but it's in decent condition. Pictures are attached. Thanks.

Worth more than face value, a UNC one sold for €362 on ebay.
These notes were replacement notes, not as common as the later Hyde ones (1999).

That is pretty hard to value, normally these sell for €10-15 each but consecutive in this number, hmmmm
lets say a few hundred :)

    thanks for that.

going to put a few feelers out for the value.

As said it's hard to value them, your best bet would be to stick them up on ebay and let the market decide, rather than getting a lower price from a dealer or doing yourself by selling them for too little on the likes of Adverts. Or you could stick them into a specialised auction in Dublin. You're sitting on a pretty penny there so be careful where you sell them.

    thanks for advice.

would you put a minimum price on them if i was to put on ebay ?

it would be my first time putting notes on ebay.

On second thoughts, I think you should put them into a specialised auction instead of ebay. Selling on ebay can be a bit dodgey and if you don't advertise them properly you won't get the proper value. On top of that Notes seem to have been fetching pretty high prices at Whyte's auctions recently, I think you should contact them and get them into their next auction. It'll be a headache free way of selling them too.

See this recent thread here about them:

    Hello,
I am new to boards.ie, so hope I am doing this correctly.
I am new to coin collecting. My father gave me an interesting collection recently. I am asking about the pictured coin. It seems unusual in that there is a monarch on both the obverse and reverse. I can't find anything on google. I know it is in terrible condition but would be grateful if anyone had an opinion as to the origin of this coin? I hope the photos do attach, I'll try again if not.
    Thank you.

After a bit of a clean up, I found a box of old coins. Among them i found a 5p coin (I think it's a 1995 mint), but there is no face on it. The rim seems to be perfect, along with with back with the harp and date.Has anyone ever come across something like this? My first thought was that somebody might have had a go at erasing one side of it...

I forgot to get back to ya, here's the photos I have it. The coin on the right is of a normal 5p, for comparison

Looks like someone erased it to me, as it has a rim that is slightly worn down.
That's to me maybe get it checked out by someone who'd know better than me :)

Well my view is that they are worth €100, if you find some brand new uncirculated Irish €500 notes (serial letter T) then that's a different story...

Have a look at the triangle of small letters and numbers in the center of the note, if you have the letter H or K followed by 001 they have a value over €100, and other numbers - 002, 003 etc are just worth their face value
