Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cos they can tell by his tail that he has a good hand.

    Bad poker face, etc.

Who's trolling whom here? He's probably paying something like £3 a minute to "wind her up", and I'm sure she'll get paid just the same whether she talks to him about sex or about biscuits.

The bottom one is the facepalm from the girl in the background when the lady in front of her started talking rubbish regarding the SSM referendum.

The food one is most likely because he enjoyed the attention the last time he posted a random picture in the thread (Mona Lisa) and wanted people guessing again as to why it is funny.
    I have deleted it.

Do you know what would actually be great?

If the forum charter could be updated to ban passive-aggressive Lumbergh-based posting. It's really back seat modding dressed up as trying to be funny.

Please, mods; What do you think?

    Thanks,
    L-M.

It is just another meme imo. I like some of them and don't like others but I don't plan on banning the ones I don't like. I personally do not consider it back seat modding as it usually results in a renewed effort by other posters to wind up the Lumbergh poster. I am usually happy to let anything go unless it breaks a charter.
The other mods might have a different opinion on this

Fair enough. Thanks for taking the time to consider and reply.

(I was slightly worried that even raising the suggestion might in itself be considered "back-seat modding" and/or "questioning moderation in-thread", so thanks too for not seeing it that way!)

Oh great, I smell another separate thread being created.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 22,407 CMod ✭✭✭✭Pawwed Rig

I can't see how it would work in a separate thread as there would be no context.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Aenaes

Yeah, I know it wouldn't work. I was just being sarcastic seeing as how creating another thread seems to be the default answer whenever some group don't want X in YLYL.

The only one I can think of is Dolan* which was years ago at this stage. The Doge thread was never actually split off afaik but more migrated to another thread because someone happened to open one with Doge in the title.

    *Dolan was weird

Business Cat set up a Business Cat thread as well.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 22,407 CMod ✭✭✭✭Pawwed Rig

But that was not a response to complaints about Business Cat not being funny, it just so happened to be set up in a separate thread unlike Dolan and Rage which were purposely evicted from here*

*afaik but I stand to be corrected as it was before my time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,554 ✭✭✭bjork

He's a business cat, of course he's going to start a new thread. It's business, it what he does.

Oh, okay I get you. Dolan was before my time as well so I hadn't realised that it was actually "evicted". Actually, that said, I don't even know what the hell "Dolan" is!! :D :pac:

It was me that started the Doge thread, and my intention in doing so was to ask IF it should be evicted into it's own thread like those other unfunny memes (Dolan and Raaaaage comics) had been*. The Mods never actually answered whether they thought it should or not, but in effect that's exactly what happened naturally anyway.

Business Cat seems different; it was started because its OP thought that it's brilliant, not that it's 5hite!

*: However, that's not what I'm suggesting should happen with Lumbergh posts. I'd just like to see them banned. Full Stop.
