Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So the rugby world cup is about to start. Where will the best places to watch it be?

I think the pucan smoking area will be good to watch it in?

Was in Monroe's yesterday for the Rocktoberfest launch. That big screen upstairs is impressive alright.

The tv out there is unreal. Must be the new Ultra HD or something. Will more than likely be jammers tomorrow though.

Where in Galway can I watch tonight's Euro 2016 qualifier between Turkey and Czech Republic?
Are there sports pubs or bars in Galway?

Anyone got recommendations for a good bar for a group of 10 to watch the FA Cup Final?
Preferably a place that does food like platters / burgers etc but it's not a priority.

plastik90 I've moved your question into a dedicated thread. Have a read of this and it will suggest good pubs.

I would send you to Busker Brownes, cross street.
Or around the corner, SEVEN- they've a big spot upstairs

Could be difficult to find a place that will be showing all the match, Connacht playing Glasgow at 18:30, FA Cup final starting at 17:30.

Yep the Dail is the official supporters club bar.

An Pucan also gets a good crowd of supporters before and after the match

McGettigans on the square near the Liam Mellows statue is a decent place to watch a game and they do nice food and have a few lovely craft beers too. Plenty of tv's dotted around the place so there shouldn't be an issue if there are more than one televised sporting event on at the same time.

Anyone who doesn't know where McGettigan's is already probably isn't going to know where Liam Mellows' statue is :D

    +1 for the Dáil Bar.

I'm not a rugby fan but they are also the official pub sponsor of Galway United and everyone speaks highly of their treatment in there.

Official supporters pub this season is Murty Rabbitte's I think.

Hi all. Anybody recommend any good pubs in Galway to watch the FA Cup Final next week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

    Any pub really.
Oslo in Salthill has a very big screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,260 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Screen is the Oslo is very poor quality, unless its been changed. OP try places geared towards sports like McGinns, McGettigans or Dew Drop.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

I think Dew Drop is the Arsenal supporters pub in Galway so it would be a good spot for atmosphere anyways. It can get a bit tight in there for big games though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,624 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Another vote for The Dew Drop.

Downstairs in The Cellar is a great hidden gem, never seems to be too packed anytime I go in, although that's rarely for any big games. But there's screens everywhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 billybh

Thanks for the suggestions,McGinns looks good as does the Dew Drop, though being a Chelsea fan it might be a bit dubious lol
