Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't think Alison and Carol are sisters.Who's idea was the pink mini bus type thing, that they use as an OB unit?

Had a listen today and while I didn't catch the name I heard a really good female voice on news . May have been Alison Hyland ? If so she sounded great .

Tipp FM could do with some presenters with some bit of a creative mind....They all sound bored and like robot's...Its got a bad dose of "This is " "That was " type of radio. The adds and promos are boring,it seems like not a lot of thought goes into them, and the promo the bejaysus out of programmes.Where have all the good presenters gone?..It used to sound a lot better than it is now.If whats on there at the moment,is all they can offer the county, they may as well turn off and lock the door.

Where do you find presenters with a " creative mind ? Who are all these good presenters that worked there ?

I like cariol power and the way she presents the programme.
Tony brooks is also nice and cheerful. He really plays nice country music.

    The competitions are good aswell.

Mod Post: Could posters please refrain from speculation on things like who may be related to whom, and what organisations folks may or may not be involved with.

Had someone involved with the station get in touch today to point out that a number of things in the thread as of late are not true.

Well not on Tipp FM. When I say creative,I mean they could be more creative with their scripting/voice-over of adverts.Instead we get what sounds to me, like a shopping list shouted over some backing track.I think WLR in Waterford are a good example of clever scripting of adverts. What do I mean by creative presenters?..Well someone not using bits of the Sun/Mirror for programme material. They used to have a guy in the afternoon that made for interesting listening, one part of the programme, was a fictional character, that made prank phone calls. If I had the chance to respond to you post sooner,I may have wrongly named some past prestenters who worked at the show, and it came across on air,but following a post from a mod,I will not do this now.It seems, someone from the station is reading this thread,If so,could I point out a couple of thing that drive me nuts? The word is US,not UZ....Call us now,not Call uz now.....and Its HIS not HEES....His name is,not hees name is. small things maybe, but its radio, where talking is a big part of the job,and it may as well be done correct. My post is my opinion, agreement is not necessary.

that is the tipp accent. tipp folk do not say with him. they say weesh heem. I was weesh heem. Or he told me heemself. Another is unnatural = twas un naaatural

The guy who was doing the GAA advert said The ball is thron in and the game is on...and there was up to haf a millon in prizes. If someone from the Station is reading maybe they would explain their local news, or lack of it, at weekends

Whats with the word legendary on the Tipp FM programme promotions. The word play on the go home show is "Legendary "...The presenters are "Legendary" Its like,if they say it enough, its true.I suppose it wont ever be opposed when licences are renewed, because of the way things are money wise, which is a great pity. What really annoys me is the current affairs guy each morning..In interviews,he is more interested in showing off what he knows, instead of giving the listener information. No matter what subject,he has done it ,been there, worn the Tshirt...would the powers that are there, tell him, just be the link between the listener and the contributior!

Whatever happened to Tipp FM day...the proceeds went Crumlins Childrens Hospital....Are they doing any outside broadcast for the busking festival? Beat 102/103 will be there on one of the days.

Congratulations to tipp fm. I am happy for them.
We are well served in county tipperary.
We have Tipp FM, Tipp Mid West, beat, spin, plus all the national stations and the neighbouring counties radio stations also.
I do listen to tipp fm, and tipp mid west.

  • Registered Users Posts: 63 ✭✭Dalmation 1

In relation to the Beat on the street, its something for the younger generation at one end of the street while the ceili will be happening at the other, with a slight over lap of time.

I also note by the latest JNLR listener figures, that Tipp Fm like most stations are suffering a slight drop in listeners, for the second 1/4 in a row, while their market share is up slightly. Dropping from the 2nd most listened Independent station to 9th.

tipp fm put a different spin on it, that they and all locals are ahead of nationals

  • Registered Users Posts: 63 ✭✭Dalmation 1

Indeed they are all ahead of the Nationals and well ahead in some cases. All stations will be always no1 in its own franchise area, it would be very worrying it it were not. Its the downward trend thats really of concern The Independents (outside of the city stations) seem to be stuck in the 80s music wise, its like the 90s never existed,(mind you some of it was dire) bearing in mind the 90s started 23 years ago! So anyone who was 12 in 1990 (about the time most young people start to get into music) would make them 35 now. Yet no one is aiming their playlists towards them (except maybe Beat on with the odd track) And lets be honest we all love to hear songs from our teen and early twenties years ;) I have friends in their 40s like me, who find Tipp FM music too old, and would listen to a youth station like Beat or Spin, and with internet radio available on a laptop or smart phone the radio world is now your oyster. I have friends who work in the industry and hope things improve but they all have to start getting back the listeners, Just my personal thoughts :)

    why did they do that?
From site mission statement "Tipperary Mid West Community Radio aims to inform, educate and entertain. We provide a service which celebrates local music, sports, culture and heritage of our community."

I rarely ever have listen to tipp fm. But I'll say the music played at the moment is a joke. I think it should be a bit more modern, music from the 80's up but also classics that around (and none of the crap rap music), rather then country music. At least that way they would get a much broader market. Tipp Mid West have country music most of the time. I think for a county, Tipp Fm is a bit of an embarrasment.

I don't think they'll join each other to be honest.

What's wrong with clare fm though? I'd would have to disagree with you there. Its actually one of the local radio stations I would respect (I'm from Clare so I'm probably a bit biased). I don't work there or anything.

I think they should include more irish music, something like Declan Nerney, and "never again will I knock on your door"If they played more Daniel O Donnell, big Tom and the like, the listenership would be in better numbers.Maybe they don't have Declan Nerney, but I have loads of tapes at home, and they would be welcome to borrow for a while.Ah ,I hope the keep going anyway.

Mr. John Player, I think you must have been listening to another radio station.
Most of the weekend presenters from TippFM were on the shows on Bank Holiday Monday.
Even my favourite Carol Power was in her usual slot for the drive time show.
I love Carol, her voice, her laugh, and the way she talks about her hair and even last week she was talking about how to make buns.

I was out early on BH monday walking the dogs. I heard Tristian on breakfast programme. He played some nice music. He normally talks in irish on his shows.

It was on air with live radio dj's all right.

    I consider Carol to "Chuckle".
Its not false, it sounds real.
Met her at the country music awards . Its not often that you get radio dj's talking about making buns or reading books anymore.
she is always quoting from books during her many shows.
She presents the go home show, then comes back in to present the late night love show. Then sunday mornings she presents a classical and jazz show. She is one of my favourites dj's on tipp fm.

I also like breda ryan on tipp mid west. she the dj on the brerakfast show there. she also has a great show in the winter, discussing the old times, and talks with the more senior members of the parish. a great listen.
Pity its only in the winter months.
