Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I got the max pack and didn't get hit by customs. Also got it in less than a week and had access to the starter videos online and mp3s the day I paid.

How are you getting on with it?

Most of the time it's really good but there are times that I really hate how smiley and cheery DDP and his team are when i'm in the middle of doing something that is kicking my arse.

I'm not concerned about my weight but I have zero fitness or sports background and am not used to regular exercise outside of walking. So I figured this would be good to just increase my general fitness levels . I started with the beginner course and found it really good. It eases you into it and in that way gives you a chance to get the poses right etc.. I was all gung ho for it till i got to 'below the belt' which I just seem to suck at, which was a bit demoralising and I really didn't look forward to the days when I had to do it but i kept going and finished out the programme and after i got my breath back after Diamond Cutter (which also killed me and is the final workout in the beginners section) i felt really good, like i'd achieved something. Actually, always feel pretty good once i've finished a workout. Had very little aches and pains after the first week of doing it.

Anyway, my overall fitness and flexibility definitely improved though i'm not holding my foot over my head like you see people do in the pics and according to my gf I've toned up a good bit but I don't really see it.

I wasn't too keen on starting the intermediate programme straight after the Beginner so instead I decided to just spend a few weeks where I'd just do Below the Belt three times a week to kinda get past my dread of it before moving on to do the same with Diamond Cutter and then starting the more advanced workouts. That's where I am at the minute with it (well, actually haven't done it in a week due to flu that makes me feel like my head is gonna explode if i bend over ) And i feel guilty that i haven't done it in a week :o

I couldn't get into the whole Team DDP and tracking your progress thing on his site so I didn't really bother with that. I didn't implement the diet plan either as I'm not the worst eater but I might give it a go in future. It's a good workout system though for those like me that aren't sporty, though i probably made it harder on meself by deciding i'd do it before work in the mornings at half past stupid o'clock most days....oh and a good tip is don't eat before doing it, can be quite uncomfortable.

Ordered the combo pack this evening. Lets see how long it takes to get here. Hopefully no customs charges either!

Sorry to ask another question but is the diet fairly specific or is it general eat so many carbs, so much protein etc?

I'm thinking about getting this to help me lose weight (not obese or anything could do with losing a stone or 2) but I know nothing about proteins in food and all of that, I kind of need a diet where I'm told I can eat so and so this day, rather than leaving it up to me to go researching it.

Let us know when it arrives. Sounds like we both ordered around the same time.

This can't arrive soon enough for me. I really need to get in shape and lose some weight. I know I need to adjust my diet mainly, but I need to start doing some exercise and my knees aren't the best at times (due to my weight) so hopefully this will help.

Not sure if Tugboats sorted you but it does give you pretty good instructions on what you should and shouldn't eat. It tells you what type stuff to have, when and what to avoid as well as giving some recipes.

For the guys just ordering, if you read back you'll see a heart rate monitor is pretty essential and has to be one with the chest monitor.

I don't know anything about them but there's a couple in Lidl next Monday(2nd March) for around €20. One connects to your smartphone and the other comes with a watch. Not sure if they're any good but someone in here might know more about them.

Thanks. I actually just picked one up in Argos yesterday, was €51 with the chest strap.

I got the watch one with chest strap in Lidl last year and it works pretty well, of course was only 14.99 back then...

I just bought the whole shebang off ddps site. Thinking being if I spent this much money on it it's that extra incentive to keep going, ordered it after reading the diet page so thanks for that guys.
Looking forward to doing it need to get fitter (even though i wouldnt be considered really unfit) I'm a bit over weight and mainly I need the diet but I'm always looking for that extra bit so will do the excersies as well. With a dodgy hip and dodgy shoulders and elbows low impact is the perfect thing for me rather than football on Wednesdays.

Do you have to do the workouts in order? The fat burner seems the one that I'm most interested in initially. Can I just do that each day/2nd day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

I'd stick with the plan, especially if you are only starting out. Can't remember the names off hand but I found there was a pretty steep curve between the first two and the third workout, so best to get a hang of the basics.

You will also feel the benefits of the initial position/workouts. I use them before playing football and it's good for stretching the muscles.

I've been doing the same thing for the last season. Got a few funny looks doing Cat Lift and Cat Arch the first time but the lads reckon I know what I'm doing at this stage!

Exact same, but it's worth the initial slagging.

I got a dispatch email last week with a tracking number but no obvious website to track the package on. Tried searching their website and online for international couriers that they use but no luck.

I'm using a lidl 14.99 one and it's grand, does sometimes take a minute or two to pick up my heart rate initially but after that it's perfect.

You'd be surprised how far under the required effort you'd be without one. 'engaging' properly is hard-core

Aldi don't seem to be stocking heart rate monitors at the moment so could any of you guys recommend a decent cheap monitor please? Thanks.

Just started the program on Monday there. Was thinking the Diamond Dozen wasn't so bad, got my pulse up and all but nothing high impact. Was wondering what all the fuss was about up until today when I did Energy for the first time. Let's just say I had to hit pause more than once. It's still a low impact workout, I think, it's just you do have to listen to your body as DDP says. In DD, he's going through the moves one at a time, but in Energy it's basically like a live workout going from one position to the next with a couple of breaks in the 20 minute or so sequence.

I got my DDP Pack in January but haven't started it yet I've a real bad junk food and sugar addiction problem

For those of you who've started this, do you just go straight into the diamond dozen or do you need to do other stuff first?

If you have the 'breathing' video, do that first. It's just a short video on the proper technique which is supposedly pretty important to the whole endeavour, but even if you don't have it, it's mainly about taking deep breaths that fill your diaphragm. On the 'Energy' workout, DDP suggests that you maybe should have spent some time really mastering the material covered in the Diamond Dozen before starting the 'Energy' workout to really maximise what you get out of the subsequent workouts, so it might be worth just breaking down the Diamond Dozen and working that for as long as you need to really feel like you have the techniques down before moving into the workout plan proper. Just a suggestion. I didn't do this, but am going through the Diamond Dozen at a gentle almost non-workout pace on the off days just to try and get stuff down a bit more.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,137 ✭✭✭veganrun

Just had my first go at this. Watched the breathing video first then did the Diamond dozen, and it kicked my ass. Can't believe how unfit I've got. I think I might do the diamond dozen a few more times to get used to it, before moving onto the energy workout.

Tougher than I was expecting, but mostly because I'm horrifically unfit and 4 stone overweight.

Haven't re-read the last few pages for everyone else's deliver times but isn't that within the expected?

I just ordered a pack myself and the estimate was the usual 3-6 weeks malarkey.

Does any of this stuff help fix up niggling injuries you may have sustained in the past I'm wondering?

I try to do both energy and fat burner 3 to 4 days a week. Today I did red hot core for the first time. It's only 12 min long but man does it work your stomach.

I'm on my third week at the moment and feel I am getting better but have massive improvements to make yet.

How is everybody doing with the nutritional and healthy eating side of DDP yoga?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,226 ✭✭✭✭briany

The diet that DDP Yoga puts you on is pretty damn healthy but would also be a lot of change at once for most people. One of the big don'ts is, sadly for many people, alcohol. Not a problem to me as I don't really drink, but just for giggles I looked at the average caloric value of a pint of stout and it's 210. Not a surprise, really when you consider its composition but funny to think that many people would think nothing of drinking near their entire caloric allowance for both days over the course of a given weekend.

Ah you're doing it wrong, you should eat nothing all day long ahead of going out. You'll drink less, remember less, and weigh less at the end of it. :p

All jokes aside, I'd recommend people try using the myfitnesspal app as well to give you an idea of what calories you're actually putting into your body. but remember that its only effective if you weigh your food. You'd actually be blown away by just how small a 30g serving of breakfast cereal is.
