Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The HB studios crew are having a live Q&A on twitter at the moment, send yer questions to @RWC2011Game, asked em a few questions about multiplayer and the irish player likenesses

Looks like the firs few hours of this game will consist of me in the player editor. Gotta make sure Sexypants looks right!

You won't be able to edit existing player appearances I'm afraid, just their stats. If you want Johnny to look like Johnny you gotta create a new player for that. Will probably spend a while doing that sort of thing myself. Thank God the other half is away for 3 weeks in September. Gives me plenty of time to get into it without worrying about losing brownie points!

i emailed gamestop re Rugby Challenge and got this response
    Hi ,

We have no information on this yet, we are awaiting confirmation from the publishers. I would recommend that you check back with us. Should you have any problems please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Have a lovely day!

sounds promising, at least they've been in contact with the publishers

The Rugby World Cup 2011 demo will be live on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network from 02, August 2011 and PlayStation®Network from 03, August 2011.

Be interesting to get a play of this game and see what it's actually like, that's in less then 2 weeks now

Do you need to be a paying member of xbox live to download demos like that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,026 ✭✭✭B0X

Depends, sometimes they make demos exclusive to gold members for a week or so before releasing them to everyone. I doubt they'd do it for this game though, there wouldnt be a big enough fan base for it to be worth their while.

    Mite get the 2 games.

The Offical Rugby world cup 2011 game for the world cup and the licenced Irish team and the Aviva and the Rugby Challenge for the Clubs.

Would it be possible in Rugby Challenge to put the irish club players onto the Irish team and then they will have there likness or will the clubs just have fake names.

I'd consider comin up from Waterford for that! Also I would think it's safe to assume then that Gamestop will be supplying Rugby Challenge in Ireland.

Sweet. Will have to make my way into that so...is it wrong that I'm ridiculously excited by the player customisation video? I suppose we haven't seen the gameplay so that's all we have to go on.

HB Studios Rugby World cup 2011 looks like it could be better for gameplay and for the world cup mode but one huge thing missing is the six nations championship (imagine how good it could be,all six nations teams are fully licnensed)

Rugby Challenge is better for the modes ie Celtic League, French Top 14 and possibly the Heinken Cup among other international tournments.

Its pro evo vs fifa in the rugby context but hopefully one day there will be one rugby game with full licenses for all international sides and major club teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

HB Studios game is a cash cow if you ever saw it. 17 Licensed teams with two game modes with no competition or proper player editor. Sorry but how can justify paying 50 quid for a game that should be priced at a 15 quid.

Yeah but knowing Steam they'll charge €60 for it while you could buy a boxed copy for €40.

True Steam for the most part is a rip off. But I have my suspicions that the PC version will be a digital download only. Ill ask them on Wednesday though. Personally id prefer it being on Steam makes my life a lot easier.

Trailer looks like it is just a db and jersey updated version of Rugby 08. Animations for breaking tackles and diving to score a try are identical. Drop goals too...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

More proof that the game is Rugby 08 with better graphics. Look forward to watching the sh*tstorm unfold on their forums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,026 ✭✭✭B0X

Looks fairly poor alright, animations look pretty jerky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Nearly all of those animations (tackling, kicking, tackle breaking) are all from Rugby 08.

That game can go **** itself tbh.

Rugby Challenge it is so, I'll play the RWC demo in two weeks but I dont think it'll change my mind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,406 ✭✭✭Phonehead

Thank God the one with a PC version seems the better game:cool: No doubt I'll spend more time editing and downloading mods than playing the bloody thing:D

    I second that motion!

Not that I'll buy it of course considering I already have rugby 08

The animations in the RWC game look fairly dated. Rugby Challenge looks miles better at the moment

    Looks awesome! :)

My biggest hope for the game is it will put you in situations where you really made to think i.e. When I'm defending my line from relentless phases, should I be cynical and give away and penalty (while risking a YC) or should I try and hold out?

I just like how it's completely different to what we'v all played before.

Every other rugby game it was all about players running in this really odd V formation. This looks a lot more fluid where players aren't rigidly tied in staying in a V line. What sells it for me was the inside pass and definitely the different angles the AI takes when receiving a pass.

    Ahhh can't wait for Wednesday!

    The rain effects are just..wow.

I'm worried my computer won't be able to display those graphics though without lagging.

My guess is if you can run this,

    http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=950&game=FIFA%202011

    You should be fine.

I don't think the hardware will be that steep.

Also love the bit with Saints vs Tigers where Joe Ansbro get's what loves like Castro and some other slow poke in front of him and manages to pass them by with ease no more getting run down by a prop when your a outside back.
