Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's free postage to the UK though, so it's just the cost of using Parcel Motel

I would recommend checking them out in a jewellers like H Samuals before ordering the G Shocks online. I'm sorry I didn't as it cost me money sending it back to Amazon.

Have to admit, I don't understand that Parcel Motel yoke ... is that a sneaky way around getting stung for customs duties too (out of theoretical, ecumenical, interests only of course)?

    No unfortunately.

It just gives you a UK address, so you can either make use of free shipping to UK addresses, or shipping only to UK addresses. It costs about 4 quid a package, but it still often pays for itself given the crazy prices some companies charge for postage to Ireland. They will not pay any customs fees that are due. It's especially handy on TZ-UK where so many sellers will only post to the UK.

It's mainly intended as a service for people getting deliveries who live at an address where there wouldn't be anyone at home when a courier might be delivering. The parcel's put in a locker and you can collect it with a PIN anytime, 24/7.

But because they have a Northern Ireland depot, they can give you a UK address for vendors to send packages to. As Eoin said, very handy with people who won't ship to the Republic of Ireland, especially on Amazon. I believe they were completely swamped in the run up to Xmas . . .

Lovely - Thats the one I love - Not mad about the other skyfall watch where the "007" is in place of the number 7.

No worries and well wear with it - strangely enough I remember you posted about this 3 months ago when buying a pandora charm and had been meaning to ask you where it was!

When you get yours could you pm me place and price? (If you don't mind)

    Looking forward to seeing it.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I have a discount code from firstclasswatches.co.uk for this blue Victorinox Inox that will expire today/tomorrow. Although its a fantastic looking watch and I got a good deal, I have decided against the purchase.

The watch is currently selling for £329 (£296 with 10% discount during January), but the code will get you the watch for £275. I assume that you'll be able to get a similar deal if you make on offer, but I said I'd put this up so the offer doesn't go to waste.

PM me if your interested, and I'll forward on the code.

Oh I hear that 89, though in my case it's a worry over the postal service, not the sender. I'm fidgeting away a kilo a day as we speak and being a scrawny feck I can't afford to. *Thinks of a new diet plan for WIS types...* :D

Hey - looking for some advice. I've seen a Stuhrling Original Monaco watch with blue dial analogue display and black leather strap on Amazon at £95 - says it's reduced from £297. Looks nice but was £297 the real original price ? Anyone got any comments or experience with the watch ?
    Cheers

Stuhrling are always on sale so I would put too much heed in the previous price.

    If you like the watch...buy!

There is a stuhrling on adverts for 1500 which is bizarre. Get the feeling the owner got caught and actually paid huge money for it.

Yea, very nice find, it still happens and regularly enough too(though 35 grand watches not so much). There was a chap hereabouts who found a solid gold Patek while out walking his dog in Dublin(IIRC). Nobody came forward to claim it and it's now his. Free Patek Phillipe, not too shabby. :)

Over the years and obviously in a much smaller way I've "found" stuff on ebay that was worth waaaaay more than I paid. My recently bagged Longines UltraQuartz one example(under a tenth of what they usually fetch). Not just watches. I bagged an art print for twelve quid that usually sell for over two grand.

Maybe I'm a sucker, but I would feel guilty as hell making 5 figures out of something I got for under a tenner at a charity shop. I really would. I'd split the proceeds with them 50/50 and even then...

PS to the dude in the article, if the only hair you can grow on your facial region is on your neck, shave dude, shave for pity's sake... :D

One for wibbs. Haven't a clue if this is a bargain, but it has 2 of your favourite things. Longines and tuning fork :D

:D Yea it's nice alright NM, though very overpriced in my humble. While you see those kinda BIN prices(and higher) on eBay, when the plainer run of the mill Ultronics go up in no reserve auctions between 100-150 euros is their usual price point/actual value. So that's double the going rate at over 300 euros(allowing for exchange rates) Check out these recent completed sales on the bay.

The ones that run higher and are sought after are the diver versions, some of the rarer TV shaped massive cases and the chronographs. They go for 600/300+/1000+ euros respectively alright. Generally speaking if you want a standard Ultronic budget for 100-150 quid and a month of Bay trawling. The Omega f300's go for more, because of the "Omegamania" effect, budget 2-300 for the plainer common ones and double that and more for the oddballs(even though Omega tuning forks are far more common and were made in much greater numbers than the Longines ones).

I find TZUK to be a fantastic source of info and a great forum, but the sales forum when it runs to the vintage stuff tends to be overpriced. Not always though as This though hardly small potatoes it's a "bargain" for such a rare item, with a full recent service and warranty to boot. WUS is worse for this though IME. It's the nature of WIS type forums, we tend to think our stuff is worth more than it is and since you'll get someone of a similar mind they often sell at those higher prices continuing that internal belief. They seem to have many more bargains in the new and more recent secondhand stuff though.

fyi, I ordered a 009 on jubilee for 115 usd and looks like postage was approx 15 USD as total cost is 130 usd.

I ordered and selected paypal as method of payment. They held the order until they confirmed the shipping cost. Process took less than 24 hours and I've a confirmed tracking number this morning.

I really like them - I presume they're inspired by the IWC aquatimer, but it's great to see a bit more of an original design from Steinhart.

If that's the seller I'm thinking of, it's probably not a bargain though.

Dietcokeman? He had it on eBay as well. I'm not sure if you saw his thread with the vintage red on it, but he got proper annoyed when people started pointing out he was asking more than the new price for it. It sold on eBay last week for around £290

    Edit:£450 asking on ebay!
