Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Is it an Isetta?

could be Wishbone, or possibly a Messerschmit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,575 ✭✭✭junkyard

I'd say its a Heinkel bubblecar.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 386 ✭✭Revelation Joe

I'm with junkyard on that one, a Heinkel/Trojan but definitely not a Messerschmitt

EDIT - the red coupe in the TOP pic looks like a Peerless or Warwick GT. The blue veteran looks like a Model T of some sort.
And the blue veteran with the white hood in the second pic could be a Ford Model A

    @ Jozi - good lunchtime quiz :D

    I'll go for the following:

    1st post
    1st row pic 2 - either a Model T, or a De La Haye
    pic 4 - Gilbern Invader
2nd row last pic- Lagonda of some sort

    2nd post
2nd row pic 3 - stumped, though i'd hazard a guess at American maker
    3rd row pic 2 - Messerschmit/Heinkel/Isetta, one of the above ;)

The red coupe in pic 4 is a very rare car , a Turner GT one of only 10!. Triumph Herald based running gear with Ford Consul Classic engine. Produced around mid 60s. The book The A-Z of cars 1945-1970 is a mine of info:D

Spotted this Merc 230E in Mountmellick today, at a glance it looked to be nicely restored.

And just across the road was this late model Bedford CF van, import on 85 plate, haven't seen one in ages (thank God! :D ).

Mark II Ford Granada, with original Dublin registration, spotted in Swords today. (Somewhat spoiled by the unnecessary Euro plates).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,487 ✭✭✭franksm

Nice - I love the Mk1 and Mk2 Granadas - very, very rare now though

Is that the Mk3 "blamange" Granada to the right in that pic ? :D

There's a nice mk 1 coupe on carzone for about 5k (its the Blur Parklife example)

i believe those plates are required for the NCT...I dont know why I think that .....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭greglo23

That only applies to cars registered after the 1st of January 1987. You can check it out in the NCT Manual PDF here http://www.ncts.ie/test.html

I parked right next to a green '84 Mercedes 200D W123 at Nutgrove shopping centre today. It looked like it had been through the wars and back!

Only vehicles registered after the 1st Janurary 1991 are required to have the Euro style plates.

Vehicles registered between 1st January 1987 and 31st December 1990 are required to have black letters/numbers on a plain white reflective background.

Can the old style number plates be picked up on the speed camara's?

Very Nice Jag - is it the XK150?? Worth a fair sum i'd say!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭Hifive

Looks like an XK 150 all right.
I saw that car in Waterford today as well, in the company of a silver E type.
I had the top down in the Stag and they both gave me a friendly wave.
Made me feel all warm and happy:rolleyes:

I followed 2 white Triumph Stags on English plates to Youghal this morning, looks like they were heading to the ferry, needless to say Irish speed restrictions didn't apply to them.;) I got a photo but haven't figured out how to upload them onto my computer.

    Probably taken on a mobile.

Junk, if you mail it from your phone to yourself (if that's the case), you should get a usable image.

I'm not beaten just yet, it's just I have a phone that does everything I don't need it to do and everything I want it to do it doesn't want to. I'm seriously thinking of designing my own tbh. P.S. Justin P.M. me your mobile number, your number is in my old phone.:o

Unfortunately not - my own GT6 is languishing beyond economic repair in the UK :(

    I also saw this today:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

I also saw a Stag on UK plates in Malahaide. It was dirt and wasn't worth a photo IMO !

I did see a beautiful original Irish Reg'd Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1 near the Airport. Lovely maroon over silver with the reg WZL XXX
