    Me too :-)
Still can't quite believe it and in a daze, but sooooo super happy!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 blocktober

Is this your first? We took a break from trying, only started back in Jan and we got lucky. I kinda suspected for the last week, lots of diff symptoms, but held out to do the test till I was late. I think I'm in shock, a bit of disbelief and of course, the fear. Staying positive though x

  • Registered Users Posts: 111 ✭✭Wooha

    Btw big congrats blocktober!
This will be our first - how about you?

We had been trying for a good while and started seeing specialists in January, but then it happened without any help :-)

What were your symptoms? Do you still have them?
I don't have any, so curious.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 blocktober

Congrats to you too!! That sounds like a little miracle, just as you were about to see the specialists, it happens for you, obv meant to be xx.
I had a MC over the summer so its my second pregnancy.
I have so far had nausea from severe to mild, sore back esp first thing in the morn, I had lots of twinges in my sides last week which is unusual for me, I have gone right off milk and my sense of smell has gone real sensitive. Its mad how quickly our bodies change. I'm loving it though :)

Me too! Yay! So excited but still slightly afraid to get too excited as so early
    Congrats to us all!

So so happy, this will b our 2nd *big big cheesy grin :-) *

I must say i got a shock last week because No. 3 is due In October. :) . Ill have 2 under 2.
Absolutely no symptoms but its early days.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 17,231 Mod ✭✭✭✭Das Kitty

I got my positive test this day last week. I was stunned it happened so quickly. It's my second pregnancy and it happened on the first cycle.

I'm hoping all goes well, but I'm very aware of how early it is in the game. I had crushing morning sickness last time from the very beginning, none so far this time. I'm moody though and my boobs hurt. Neither of which were the case last time.

    Hi

I am due in October also, but afraid to get excited as it is very early.

I had a previous miscarriage (ectopic) and am waiting to go back to the EPU to have a scan next week.. This will hopefully confirm this pregnancy is viable and in my uterus! Fingers crossed :)

My sense of smell is through the roof!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 blocktober

How is everyone doing? Last week I felt like I had lots of different symptoms but this week, I just feel tired/wrecked... I feel physically tired rather than mentally tired if that makes sense.

I was trying to play it cool with this pregnancy and not tell anyone but I cracked. The last time, we didn't tell anyone and then we just had bad news to tell which sucked. Now its all I can do to not randomly shout out "I'm pregnant". No matter what happens I want to enjoy this time and hopefully it works out xx. The power of positive thinking ;)

its a HUGE suprise but we are both ecstatic....like everyone else i dont want to get too excited as it is so early, im just about 6 weeks, due around october 4th. i cant stop smiling......im going to be a MAMMY!!!!!

no major symptoms so far other then constantly shattered tired but hat could also be because i have had to cut my coffee habit and have barely slept since finding out :)

    Welcome trinz!

I'm officially due the day after you. :)

Still no morning sickness here but I'm craving salt this morning. Was on a hen night at the weekend and really enjoyed myself.

    How's everyone else feeling?

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭trinz23

I'm not great for sleeping either at the moment.

Good long walks and a warm (not hot) bath might be a big help to get to sleep. Is it trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? (I'm still having my morning coffee btw.)

Its definitely staying asleep, I cant stay awake past 9.30 or 10 but am awake again by 12 or 1am and awake for the night then.....finding it very hard to concentrate then during the day!!

I'm the same. I'm not complaining though as my morning sickness last time was horrible and I think a little sleeplessness is a breeze by comparison. I also have been trained for the last 3+ years on how to survive on very little sleep!

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭trinz23

tats it....maybe its my body preparing me for the lack of sleep once the baby comes????

Can I join?? Just got a bfp today hope to go to the doctor this week to get the ball rolling on appointments and stuff. So terrified I have to be honest!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 345 ✭✭freudiangirl

Regarding tiredness, I am wrecked during the day but then when i lie down at night, i feel dizzy and sick like motion sickness
Driving me mad as it is not helping with sleeping.
If i wake during the night, its impossible to go back to sleep.

Last time I had nausea up to about 15 weeks, cannot remember it starting this early on my first .

Im feeling dizzy now and like my ears will pop at any minute!!

    Hows everyone feeling?
I am hoping for an early scan maybe 6+5, dont think I can wait until week 8... so nervous...

    Welcome lassies!

Started to feel a bit blerg now. Only when I'm really tired or hungry. I also want all the salty things, craving chips like a mad thing.

Told our best mates last night. They've been told they can't have any more kids, so I was nervous in telling them, but it was grand. Got a big hug and pancakes. :)

Probably going to try to keep it to myself at work until the new fiscal year and see if my contract will be extended.

Have told the most important people in my life and they were all delighted! i know its so early but i just couldn't keep it to myself any longer I was going to explode! Also going to keep it from work for as long as possible, kind of worried about that as I am only 2 months into a new job (that I love) that includes 6 months probation.

I am also getting dizzy spells since yesterday, very like motion sickness. Great to hear that other people have this too.

This forum is brill because as it is my first I don't know whats OK and whats not and seeing other people with similar symptoms is really putting me at ease.

P.S My boobs are KILLING me!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭lolademmers

I'm the same trinz this is my first. I just have a few mild cramps which I believe are normal like mild period pains. The tiredness is hitting me too can't wait to get into my bed each night!!

I'm eating more frequently to stave off the morning sickness and I'm finding my clothes a bit tighter too. My stomach gets very bloated by the end of the day.

I feel all odd posting on this women's thread

My wife and I are expecting our 2nd baby (the first one has just turned 3) - but there is some confusion as to whather it will be a September baby or an October baby.

According to my wife's dates, we should have been 7 weeks pregnant as-of last Sunday, February 10th (which would be a September 29th ish due date). She got a positive pregancy test on Jan 17th. But over the weekend, she got some spots of dark red blood, rang a midwife at the hospital where the baby is due to be born and she wanted us to go in for a scan. We went in on Monday and the internal scan showed the pregnancy at 5 to 6 weeks (which would be an October 12th ish due date) where the sac was visable but empty. That was strange coz her cycle is always bang on time. Anyway we are due to go back on Thursday Feb 21st to have a new scan done and we hope everything will be OK.

Wife is worried coz she's still getting the spotting on and off and she hasn't been puking (last time, she puked every day...ALL day). Although a good sign is that she is feeling nausious a lot.

Hopefully everything will be OK. But having to wait another week to find out is a killer!

LaoisMan hopefully everthing is ok at your wifes next scan.
Regarding the morning sickness. I had it on my first but no symptoms at all on my second. I am due my 3rd around 4th October and no symptoms at all again.

Edited to say i have read many a story lke yours where everything turned out ok but obviously you need to be prepared. Let us know how you get on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭lolademmers

Had my GP appointment this morning and its all confirmed. I will be going with the combined care so I go back to him at 12 weeks and he listens to the babys' heart and if all is ok I don't need to go to the hospital until my 20 week scan! He tested my urine and took my blood pressure too. Said the only thing I cant do is horse ride or scuba dive. He is a bit of a character!

    Welcome and congratulations xxx

Do you know how far gone you are? Just make an app with your doctor as soon as you can, and they will do a check up and put you on folic acid if you have not done so already...

    Exciting times ahead :D

Congrats and I hope your sickness lets up a bit. I'm finding sleeping all the time is a great help!

I'm butting in a little bit here (due in June) but I had terrible constipation in my first few weeks, I also felt like a whale! The doc recommended Fibogel and it really helped. It's safe to take in pregnancy because it's not absorbed it just goes through your digestive tract.

Also, loads and loads of fluids. I had to go on a drip a couple of times due to hyperemesis and afterwards I was always very "free" if you know what I mean (sorry if that is gross) so it really showed me how much being hydrated helps.

Anyway, mine lifted by about 9/10 weeks I think. I was worried I'd be like that all the time but even with having to take iron now I'm grand.

Congrats to all the October ladies :)

Visited our hospital this week.....they offer maternity orientation tours.......really put us at ease to be shown our way around and told everything that will happen before the time comes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭lolademmers

That's really good rockonollie. I'm not sure if my hospital offers that it's only a small regional one. I would feel much better even just having a look around so it's not the first time I see it on D Day! Maybe I will ask at my 20 week scan.
