Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Depends on which ones your buying.

You mean Adidas lifting shoes vary in ther sizing? How unhelpful of them for online buying.

Judging by reviews, they run half a size bigger than your normal shoes. ie: you're a size 11, buy 11.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,265 ✭✭✭COH

I bought the same size, fits fine

Cheers, that does seem to be the concensus from the reviews alright, but I've never found Adidas running shoes, in particular, to relate well to "normal" shoes unfortunately.

If you hang on awhile they should see a price drop when the 2012 range are released.

If you look around enough you might find the 04 aistars cheap. Failing that i'd get the newest ironworks if it was me.

Very soon, we will have a facebook chat on this, which will end in you getting so frustrated by all my questions that you'll just search the net to find the best deal for me to shut me up. And then, my plan will be complete. :)

04 adistars = greatest shoe ever made

I've mine since late '06 and they're still going strong. Best 200 bucks I ever spent.

Are the adistars the ones with the wooden heel in them?

Wayne was trying to sell me the benefits of squatting in an oly shoe as opposed to barefoot recently

Ahh my squat isnt anywhere near decent enough or heavy enough to warrant the expenditure! Maybe someday! I just thought that wearing them while squatting would make you prone to tipping forward if that makes any sense! I thought barefoot/cons were supposed to be the way to go, but apparantly not! Cant remember what he said but I think stability was mentioned!

In other news im only mildly hungover today! Score!

Nearly all WL shoes have wooden heels but these are the adistars:

    adidas_adistar_weightlifting_shoes-300x300.jpg

Benefits of weightlifting shoes (I'm probably gonna forget something here)

The heel is flat and solid so you have a firm base to push off when lifting. There's usually a secondary fastening in the form of velcro straps to keep your feet in solid.

They have a raised heel, which allows your knees to travel further over your toes, which keeps your torso more upright (by moving your hips further forward under the bar). In this way someone can also compensate for ****ty ankle mobility, but it gets you into a better position on the snatch

I think the soles might be designed to grip the platform better.

They usually look pretty. I've probably forgotten something

Is that a thumbs up for wearing Olympic lifting shoes over a flat shoe for back squatting?

Bit of a self-fulfilling and self-defeating prophesy there. I got a cheapo pair for about €60/70 - immediate and immense difference in the squat.
I can't say I'm a great squatter, or even a good one, but I can say I'm a better one for the little money and would have more confidence that I can go a bit heavier than I might try in runners. The tipping forward is not a issue, if anything I think it's less likely as I find I'm just better balanced all 'round.

Weightlifting shoes literally transformed my squat.

Cons do not compare. Don't buy into the internet powerlifter reasons for wearing them - they don't apply outside of high squatting multiply feds.

I didn't get weightlifting shoes until I was lifting for 6 months. Once I got them I realised I was an idiot for not getting them sooner. My squatting immediately improved.

Not monster, but I saw a flier for red bull cola in eurospar a week ago, 24 cans for €1.99, yes, 1.99!

Dunno if its a one off but could be a wholesaler getting rid of it so other places might have it.

No idea what the taste is like.

Takes about 45 minutes to kick in and the results last circa 5 hours.

Depends on your bodyweight, tolerance, what you've eaten and a ton of other factors. It was extremely general.

The potency and effect will obviously diminsh over that time too.

Has anyone experienced tightness / discomfort in the groin area whilst squatting?

Whenever I'm in the descent of the squat, my groin feels really tight and makes it uncomfortable go down past parallel.

It's usually worse during the warm ups and I feel I need the weight to push me down which results in the eccentric phase of the lift becoming quite slow.

Kick in the hole is 100% natural and contains no additives. I could do you a good deal on a weeks supply.
