And the people that will find offense at someone being called black will be middle class and white.
I am offended that you think i would be offended at anything!

Eh, I'm not offended? The reason I mentioned that OP said 'African' over 'woman' or anything else is because he/she also said ''(not having a go at African women here)''. He/she could've said ''not having a go at women here'' instead, so if he/she did say that, I'd have thought ''why mention her gender if it has nothing to do with it?''. Same principle.

Well I hope it doesn't offend you that I am offended that you find it offensive that I think that you are offended in the first place.

I was going to read that twice but instead I'm just going to say this. Because of people like you. I could be in the wrong here. I only half read what you're saying, but I'll run with that.

I'm offended. It's not ignorance to ignore whatever you said, I'm sure it was great. It's just a bit of fun. It's arrogance to think what you said was just enough to decry someone ignorant because they aren't bothered to follow if you get my drift. If you don't then you're ignorant.

I don't even think it was the best excuse ever, either.:( Coming over here, with their poor excuses. It was bad enough when they were just pissing in our pots, but this, this takes the biscuits. In the Gardas favour, I've a couple of mates who happen to be women, and also happen to be African, and they are well formidable. Not a hope of argueing with them and winning, they'd cuss you down. If the woman was Nigerian, the Gards would need riot shields just to avoid a tongue-lashing. Do not feck with a Nigerian woman. Even Nigerian men don't argue with Nigerian women.

No Nigerian men prefer to argue with every other bloke in the world and when they've nothing else to say they scream racist!

I was walking up James street a few mins ago and from a distance I noticed a Garda squad car had pulled in a 13 bus. As I got closer I realised they had taken an African woman (not having a go at African women here) and her buggy off the bus. I was watching this for about 30 seconds by the time I was close enough to hear what was being said, but the lady was giving out and shouting in the Garda face. When I walked by the lady was screaming " no I havent got a name". She then flagged down the next bus that passed and got onto it with both Garda just looking at each other with I what do we do here kind of face.

All I can say is great excuse , I am gonna try that if I ever have a run in with the law!!

Arrest and deport, she wouldn't have been as smug then.

racism/even bothering to point out somebody's race when it's not relevant is a little bit different to bus number discrimination

Ah, you make me want to vomit.

Did she leave the buggy behind her at the bus stop?

    Why's that?

Just the level of PCism is getting hard to bear these days. So what he he mentions it was a woman or a black person or whatever.

Finding it hard to follow what's going on here.

Is there something wrong with the No 13 Bus that the Garda Schicks are dragging people off it at random? Are you saying they're working for Dublin Bus and now that lady had to pay two Bus fares for the one trip.

And "I don't have a name" is not a great excuse.

"Sorry I tripped and fell onto your 18 year old twin daughters and accidentally penetrated them in succession, twice" is a much better excuse

I don't think the garda would have been impressed by that at all.

It's the oldest trick in the book, the one every one uses on the Luas when stung with no ticket and being escorted off three stops from your destination. That and my name is Ben Dover, 123 Fake Street, Tallaght, Dublin. Have you I.D. sir - No.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,204 ✭✭✭dodderangler

I love the way this went from best excuse to something to Do with race
It's just typical of some Irish people
Who cares where she was from the Garda obviously had a perfectly good reason for taking her off the bus
If it was a white person you would all be like she's probably a junkie or robbed somethin and was caught

    Would yas cop on

This is the best/worst excuse I've heard from one of my mates - he answers the door sweating buckets with one sock on and one sock off, the other sock is in his hand, his t-shirt is tucked into his jeans. He told us that he ran so fast down the stairs that he built up a sweat and was using his sock to wipe the sweat off his forehead! Yeah... or you were havin a w*nk mate!

Why did he rush to answer the door?

So two of Dublin's finest were clueless as to what to do when the woman told them she had no name and they watched as she got on the next bus and just fcuked off home?

    Says it all really.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,984 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

then why bother mentioning her race/nationality if it has nothing to do with it?

I don't think that it should have been mentioned that the guards were guards either, because it leads to all kinds of abuse.:(

'Cause it's 2012, didn't think that sort of thing even still mattered today. Doesn't make a difference to me if you don't see it the same way, vomit all you want :)

Maybe that was mentioned 'cause the fact she was talking to guards had a lot to do with it? Wouldn't be any sort of story if she walked off on a random person on the street asking for her name..

If the thread is about the Gardai not being respected then heres one for you:

Last Saturday in Temple Bar some little scrout who couldn't have been more than 13 was hassling tourists. Two squad cars come and a load of tourists gather to watch. The scrout proceeds to curse blindly at the guards, spitting on the ground, lights up a smoke and then starts aggressively pointing his finger at a guard saying he was going to 'batter him'. The guards eventually let him on his merry way to the utter shock of the tourists.

If this thread is about Africans and really poor excuses then heres one for you:

Friend works in a clothing shop on Grafton Street, one day an African man is caught stealing by her. She calls over security guard and he starts calling her a racist. Then he starts calling the security guard a racist as he starts pulling out the stolen clothes from the African man's bagpack. The NEXT day about 15 Africans arrive and protest outside the 'racist' store. By noon they had Irish people coming in to tell the manager that they would never shop there again. When my friend went on her lunch the original African guy pointed her out and some Irish 'do-gooder' started screaming RACIST in her face.

If this thread is about the 13 bus then heres one for you:

....dont really have any stories tbh.

The OP was very insensitive, and I understand why people have gotten upset. To spare any further outrage, the original post should be edited to read:
An event may or may not have taken place. The details are not relevant.

Actually, this site would be a much better place if every post was edited to say that.

Come to think of it, we should probably burn all the books and replace them with those two sentences.
