How come they don't train in Galway since most of the squad is living nearest there :p.

breakdown penalty soon after the start from just down the Welsh 22

poor miss for Jackson swirling wind being blamed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Gilsenan charge down creates Irish posession in the welsh 22 but its given away

Wales eventually clear but Irish penalty Wales not releasing, another kick from the tee off the post

    Foster Horan doing well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Jackson missed touch from a penalty there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Irish free kick off the first scrum due to a welsh early engagement

Second scrum of the game massive welsh hit, I'm not sure why it was reset

Conan is doing well great break from a scrum and from a free kick earlier on

Super stuff so far. Wind making hard to get points on the board though

maybe it will be easier later on when we have the wind in the second half

Irish l/o in the welsh 22 after a clever kick from layden, scannell failed to throw sraight welsh scrum

Irish penalty in the scrum (props to McCall on the LH side) Jackson kicks for the corner

Welsh penalty against Qualter holding on, Irish scrum off the welsh lineout (not straight) after the Welsh cleared the line but Marmion penalised for feedinging to the second row

That's a beautiful kick from Leydon, keep it outside the 22

Ireland win scrum penalty and kick for the corner.

    Big Balls

Great steal by Welsh open side on the deck, Irish player got isolate breaking the gain line and flanker punishes him well.

0-0. jackson missing two relatively straight forward kicks

Great steal by Welsh open side
    Dan Thomas!

    Big big hype surrounding him.

I'm getting on the plane now, raging I'm missing it. Cmon ireland stick it to the taffs!

    Score?

    0-0

Best kick I've ever seen in rugby by the Welsh 10, 2m inside his own half to 2m from Irish try line

Sign of changed times to see leydon and qualter both former roscommon minor footballers playing representative rugby for Ireland........

I don't think a single LO has worked properly after throwing to 4 or 6 for either side captain should make the call always throw to 2

Wales took an Irish scrum against the head, Wales drop goal means Wales score 0-3

Welsh 10 with classy drop goal

    0-3

Coneely been very busy in the loose, lot of pressure on Wales with the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Welsh scrum inside the Welsh 22 after a jackson cross field kick was knocked on

They manage to run to nearly the halfway line before being penalised for holding on

    Jackson kicks for the lineout

    Irish LO on the 22

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

LO thrown beyond the back of the lineout and Wales claims the turnover

Another knockon on the other side of the field Ireland manage to win it but manage to knock on immediately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

    good try

Irish penalty halfway between the halfway line and the welsh ten meter line, referee warns the welsh captain and tells him to talk to his re the amount of breakdown penalties

Welsh scrum just inside the welsh 22 after an irish knock on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Good kick and kick chase from Ireland pressurises the Welsh clearing kick leads to an Irish LO halfway between the 22 and the Welsh 10 meter line

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

    Hanrahan knock on Welsh scrum

Coneely does excellently tackling the Welsh 8 after the scrum, Wales holding on in the breakdown penalty

Jackson goes for the corner despite it being kickable

    Ireland win the LO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Late tackle on hanrahan, he is on the ground needing treatment, not noticed by referee

Gets the ball away to Coghlan Murray but Coghlan Murray is forced into touch just shy of the try line

Daly loses sight of a ball and sends into into touch Welsh LO on halfway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Hanrahan got absolutely smashed there, looked a bit dodgy to me.

And then Daly dropped the ball into touch, poor hands tbh.

wonderful kickchase after a marmion boxkick leads to an Irish LO

Ireland should be disappointed not to be up by (a lot) more at the half. Execution just a bit lacking at the end sometimes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

    HT Ireland 5 Wales 3

Ireland will have the wind in the second half might open things up for us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭porterbelly

Conneely at 7 and Layden look the pick of the bunch so far.

    Layden is a classy player

Hanrahan and Marmion having good games as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Wonderful break by Hanrahan and maturity to find that pass so close to the line.

    Looks a good back row

Jordan Coughlan the sub is supposed to be a good player as well

Coughlan is leinster academy while Conan is subacademy but to be honest Conan may be ahead imo Coghlan looked better in schools as part of a dominant team

Lots of very good individual performances but still only 2 points up. The lads need to pick it up and I wouldn't mind seeing chris Farrell on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Conan and Gilsenan have boh taken chunks of lineout ball, nice to have options in the back row.

Daniel Thomas the Welsh 7 got his fourth or fifth turnover there

Welsh penalty just outside their 22 due to Ireland not releasing a tackled welsh player

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Marmion and Daly combined well there to make 30 meers before Coneely gives away a turnover

Welsh turnover just outside their own 22

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Wonderful run from layden makes about 30 meters brining Ireland to the Welsh 22

    Welsh turnover

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

    Terrific kick from Jackson

    Welsh lineout

Ireland really need more players in the ruck area

    Marmion off for McGrath

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Layden looks classy, hanrahan has been talked about down this way for a while, would like to see him in our rabo games soon if possible.

Scrappy enough stuff. Not that impressed with the 14 (Daly?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

    Hanrahan's passing is just brilliant.
