Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    They say its about 1 degree celsius every 150m.
    That can vary depending on the air mass overhead though but it usually would be 150m.

    wexford seriously ?? there was a foot of snow in parts last year , i remember the brother sayin he couldnt get to work for a few days !!!

    wexford???:confused: my friend has a holiday home in rosslare and went out last christmas and said there was well over a foot of snow, or just as much as dublin there and thats on the coast !!

    Normally I only offer these to residents of Lake Huron counties of Ontario, and it works out fine. :)

    Normal service returned for Waterford so MT eh? Cold mushy sleet turning to cloudy but windy, to rainy, and back to July where we get the same but in 20 degrees :)

    Snowless for us it seems this winter!

    The government can rightly say they were just being prepared.

    The forecasters always allow for error.

    The papers will blame the government and the forecasters for getting it wrong.

    must be , its dated the 18th which is today ... a hell of a lot different to mt's forecast !!!!
    there one sounds quiet boring/typical ireland winter weather ..

    Well it saves a few hundred on oil/coal/electricity and ~€400 on winter tyres. All in all I'd say the positive weather solutions forecast leaves possibly €800 extra in my pocket at the end of the winter so I know which one I'm crossing my fingers for.

    There is not much consensus over this years weather.

    James Madden has a different forecast to Peter O'Donnell who has a different forecast to Positive Weather Solutions etc etc

    I am expecting a bad winter and it doesn't hurt to prepare for it.

    Me too. I think this years winter sting will be in January and February this time though,unlike the last couple of years. So when people are basking in 13C on Christmas Day, I won't be fooled....:cool:

    It's a guessing game really! One person says one thing, someone else says the other thing....at the end of the day no one knows really, just some are more accurate in their predictions than others!:D

    The usual stuff really. Salt for the driveway, some food, shovels, good pair of hiking boots.

    I live 10 minutes from work so I can walk there everyday and Tesco is 15 minutes walk from my home. Tesco did a good job keeping stock last year so bread and milk is not a big problem.

    Saying that Lidl and Aldi are too far so I will be stocking up on the food stuffs from there at the first sign of any heavy snow.

    Monday 15th of November last year was the date the first real thread appeared regarding the cold that appeared on the charts that was about to sweep over the country:

    Quite a way to go before then, a good 4 to 5 weeks.
    On another thread a week before that, the temperature had reached 18 degrees in London.
    So right now, hard to know what way it will go, other than to say its getting nearer that time every day.

    Dont know but look at the dates and time of the posts. Not all the charts are like that.
    The cold didnt get rightly going uintil about the 21st of November last year and beyond. So we're still a fair way off that point.

    It's a standard problem with posting direct links to charts from these weather sites, they are continually updated so are useless unless you view them at the time of posting.

    Apparently you have to post it as a picture instead

    Are we in store for another snowy winter? I have heard mixed forecasts (probably unreliable) but some seem to think we could have snow by the end of October? Surely it's too early.. I can definitely feel the cold over the last few days! I, for one, welcome the snow :cool:

    No snow for the end of October, unless your on a mountain in Donegal, no body really knows to be honest, If you read Mt's winter forecast you might get a better idea

    is anyone else losing hope in this winter for no real reason? i know theresmore signs pointing to a cold winter than a mild one, more forecasters too but i dont know why i sort of wouldnt be surprised if it were mild this year :( its sort of 40:60 for me, might be normal,horrible,wet boring or may be very cold respectively.but i'll hold out hope :D

    I'd be happy with a reasonably dry, cold, crisp winter. If it snows, that'll be a very nice bonus.
    What I definitely don't want is a mild, wet, windy winter.
    The country appears to be rotting after all this recent mild wet weather. Mould, moss and fungus appearing everywhere. It's like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean and Davy Jones.

    I am starting to lose hope but I am still prepareing just in case.

    Negative comments seem to stick more than positive ones. (Depending on your point of view):D
