Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The apparent climatic fight scene resembles the Matt Fraction storyline. Which, I liked a lot. I don't want to hype this, but it will be hard for them to **** this movie up.

    Fantastic.

Exactly! It didn't matter how bad the rest of the movie was, they put the best 10 seconds in the end of a trailer with sabbath, and it sold millions of tickets as a result :pac:

him kicking the car with Pepper and Happy in it was cool too great shot as it slides away and he's standing there looking like a total badass.

The toy marketing people must be creaming themselves.

    Imagine all the possibilities.

I bet the toys will still end up being ****e though.

So, looks like yet another finale featuring variations of the powersuit? Uhm, I love Shane Black n' all, but ... really? Was this the best they could come up with, even with the Avengers giving them (literally) the universe to play with? Obviously I don't want to read too much into one trailer, but it seems odd they'd go back to that particular well yet again.

well its a iron man film people watch it for the power armor fights and fancy cgi to a fairly large extend

    Oh yeah.

Going to be awesome, I predict millions of nerds exploding waiting for this film to come out.

Screen Rant's look at all of the armours is really good, but full of spoliers!

    Autonomous, per the comic books.

Not sure if spoiler, but the overall plot im gathering from the trailer seems to be
a mix of Extremis and the Matt Fraction arc. Extremis was short enough, explaining how Tony gets to the point where the suit basically flies onto him and the tech gets so advanced it can control itself. The entire Matt Fraction arc (which went for a couple years in the comic production) was overall about Tony's "Nightmares" that the stark technology would not only become commonplace but weaponized and too easy to manufacturer. In the trailer, the Mandarin appears to wield some kind of bomb that would resemble some sci fi explosion - and is probably an Arc-reactor Bomb. The arc ultimately ends with Stark being forced by the mandarin to build some really apocalyptic **** (Titanomechs) but we wont see that in the movie... what we will see is instead of Tony suiting up a bunch of past villains, the Iron Army will be in the climax, as Mandarin pulls off whatever his mwahaha scheme is, and will get killed. The movie may possibly end with Tony figuring out how to weapon-proof his tech, as in the storyline, and free from the burden of worrying about his nightmares, dons some space armor and heads out; queue Guardians of the Galaxy perhaps.
/braindump /$5 if right /$3.50 if somewhat right

The new international poster is pretty sweet. The theatrical version for Ireland will be very similar but without the armoury image at the bottom.

Is he supposed to be chinese?

Or does he just like the art style?

For the movie universe, probably not. In the comics he is definitely asian though, and his rings are explained to be alien in nature, each of them is meant to have an alien consciousness inside like an Eldar Spirit Stone. In the comics, very much like Wraithlords, the Mandarin/Aliens planned on Stark building Titanomechs to use as vessels for each of the rings. Ten Titans in total would have taken over the globe. Which, also reminds me a lot of the Titans from the Dune sci-fi universe, except in that there were 20 of them, and each were originally human... /nerd ramble

I wonder what (if any) powers his rings may exhibit in the movie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I've seen one trailer and a tv spot, that's it. even the teaser gives away too much, you'd wonder at the thinking behind giving EVERYTHING away with movies these days, whatever about whetting people's appetite but jesus let us see some of the film without knowing every detail as well. I miss proper teaser trailers, with specially shot footage.

Seriously spoilery TV Spot for IM3. Do not watch if you want to stay uneducated as to the plot.

It's worth reiterating, DO NOT WATCH THAT SPOT IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SERIOUSLY SPOILED

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85,050 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

That spot has been pulled, fortunately. Did not see it.

This is another spot though. Spoilery, ah, who knows. Probably not, if you've read into this movie at all in the last year.

Kinda off-topic but any reasoning for the amount of Marvel / Paramount movies being released in the UK & Ireland ahead of the US?

Iron Man 3, The Avengers (I won't dare utter it's "other" name), Thor and Thor 2 all were / are getting release dates here a week ahead of the States.

Apparently we formed a good chunk of their overseas box office sales (beaten by China I believe) so maybe it's to encourage more people to see it as it looks like a treat that we're getting it early

    yeah.

i always got the feeling that we make a good "test" market as a ridiculous amount of our population turn up at the cinema when compared to other regions.

if its a massive hit here i can see the studios using that result as an excuse to roll it out into more screens in the states, if they get an early warning of bad buzz- they par back or stick to the original number to limit their losses.

plus we used to pirate the fuk out of em.

    :D

It's pretty expensive from what I read on the forums here to go see a film in USA and Canada. Twice the price ?
So maybe that helps with the audiences over here.

That and people are not super-comic fans that go see the films just to get angry at what isn't in the films then go argue on some website for months afterwards.
I think the number of "Sheldon's" here is lower than America.

Canada is about the same as here, though they have half price tuesday nights.

Are you sure, I've never been to a cinema there, but the boards.ie forums for Canada and USA for people living over there say that cinema is twice the price. I could be wrong (again).

Canada isn't too bad. Tuesdays at my local cinema is only 8 dollars a ticket. And usually prices are around 14 dollars.

Annoying thing is that they don't really sell seats just general admission tickets so you have to go early to try and get a good seat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

a cad 14 dollar ticket is equal to about 9 quid once you factor in the exchange rate so its pretty much the same here (less your talking about 3d films which set ya back 13 here)

that 8 dollar one on tues is great value.

that'd be about a fiver here.

Two different lego set in Smyths yesterday actually spoiled two bits of this film for me (the way the characters are on the box art).
    Links contain possible spoilers:
The first is not too big a deal, but the second I did not see coming.

I realise that the box art may not be reflecting something that actually is in the film, but the set ups, especially the second one would be an odd set up for the official box art if it didn't come from the film.

Regarding the second you must have been under a rock not to know as its been well publicised all over the place and hard to avoid.
