Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would love to try this, never shot Bullseye before. Do shooters wear the bondage jackets or is that disallowed ? also for the prone section, i suppose you'd need to bring your own shooting mat ?

If you are thinking of these Jackets:

    schietjas.jpg

Then no. They are Olympic jackets and not required for Bullseye shoooting.
also for the prone section, i suppose you'd need to bring your own shooting mat ?
If it's dry you won't need a mat, but if you want to bring a mat then go ahead, but none are supplied.

They're also only used for ISSF rifle shooting and can't be used in ISSF pistol at all - we just stand there and shoot like everyone else for pistol, whether it's for air or smallbore:

Seen the last couple of pistol matches in the Bullseye 360, it's good to see the rifle section of the Bullseye 360 starting up.

Would a man be at a big disadvantage with a 10/22 in the .22 rifle ?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 28,623 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cass

    Absolutely not.

The Ruger would be more than adequate for any of the short range comps, and even worth using for a bash at the long range one. It's only a 100 yards for the longest comp. Well within the rifle's ability to hit. The times allowed for each course give you enough time to steady and aim so don't be rushed. Too many times people think they have less time than they do and end up firing quickly.

With the semi auto you can hold a good fixed position and not have to worry about cycling the bolt so may give a slight edge, but as said you have enough time so give it a lash.

Whats the latest time you can arrive and participate?

    Depends on turnout.

Usually the lads allow people to enter for as long as the comp goes on. Also as there are re-entries it can go on for some time. So unlike some shoots where there is a cut off point/time this will go for as long as people want to shoot it.

Sadly, i won't make it this time, work is getting in the way of my fun, as usual. Cass, do you think there will be another similar event before Xmas ? I definitely get to the next one.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 28,623 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cass

    That's the plan anyway.

The last one was smaller so with the inclusion of the 100 yard shoot we're expecting it to attract all types of shooters. There are plans to hold a few each year, but as always it's down to the availability of the ranges. This type of comp takes up between 3 to 4 of the ranges so trying to get a weekend where none of these are used is hard enough.

However as they come up i'll let you know.

The Bullseye 360 Pistol Comp usually starts at 10.30am with the Bullseye 360 Rifle Short Course starting a little later at approx 12.00 - 12.30.

Once the comp is on going, you can participate.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Cass,
Any plans to run this competition again?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 28,623 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cass

I'm just waiting on getting the results myself (been busy IRL so haven't gotten around to it yet) and when i do i'll post/send them to whomever wants them.

As for running the comp again. The interest was high and turnout was good so another comp is definitely on the cards. When that will be is not known yet as the MNSCI hosts a number of comps from many organisations so trying to "squeeze" in some free time, as we need three ranges to run them all, can be tricky. However it will not go on for months on end, and as soon as we can get a free weekend we'll have another one, without a doubt.

I was told results would be sent out to your email only, not too sure if that's all the results or only my own.

Christy was saying they are hoping to run another one next month.

I've contacted the lads, and they are busy with real life stuff so said they would get them to me asap. IF lads are not comfortable with having their names up i'll hold onto the results and PM them to anyone that wants them. The response will be quicker than e-mailing the lads as i know they are dealing with issues outside of Boards.
Christy was saying they are hoping to run another one next month.
I haven't spoken to him since Saturday so that is good news.

So just off the phone and a preliminary date of November 8th has been set for the next shoot. I'm awaiting confirmation on this over the next few days, but i'm throwing it out there to give as much notice as possible.

I'll start a new thread when the date is finalised, but all indications are it'll be the same format, prices, details, etc. The only difference is the times per detail will be adjusted.

    More as i get it.

Some lads are only getting results today. This was due to personal issues with family members of the lads involved. As such they have asked me to post this on their behalf.
    Hi Badajoz.

We ask all competitors on the day if they want to submit their e-mail addresses and full name so that we can add them to our BCC mailing list, and contact them with the scores when each competition is over. That is the only way that the scores are circulated as some competitors don't like their names being posted on any website.

So to anyone attending the next match on November 8th, 2014 please make sure when registering that you include a relevant e-mail address and we will forward the scores on to you.

To all others, my apology for the delay with emailing the results as I had a family emergency, sorry guys

I'll start a new thread when the date is finalised, but all indications are it'll be the same format, prices, details, etc. The only difference is the times per detail will be adjusted.

    More as i get it.

Maybe just adjust the timing of the 50m down to 5 minutes.
    40m to 4 minutes
But leave the 25m at 2 minutes at the least as people with bolt action rifles and only the one mag will need this time

I shot both the rimfire and the center fire with single shot bolt action rifles. I know I was a disadvantage in using a single shot but I feel that this discipline and timings are OK for rimfire but I will not shoot center fire again as I feel the distances are inappropriate for center fire rifles and 36 shots with such a short time limit is not good for high velocity calibres.

Just had a look at the scores and I came out with a 2nd place. Delighted with that. I may zero my .22's to add to the fun for the next one :)

Nah..... I shoot IPSC Rifle abroad with my centre fire rifle with a hell of a lot more rounds in a fraction of the time allowed in the Bullseye 360 Rifle Competitions with no problems, these times and distances are actually fine and slow, 8 minutes for 12rds, 4 mins for 12rds and 2 mins for 12rds, loads of time...

I thought IPSC disciplines used magazine fed rifles, including semi autos?
