Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's no supercharged Jag but if all it needs is 4 tyres it looks like excellent value to me :)

i think 3 series of that vintage are known for corrosion on the rear pipes and the tank has to be dropped to replace them?

    Some key points:
    • Exec leather with D9 cards and elec windows all round
    • 65mpgs me hole
    • Last time it was for sale it had well over 200k miles.... Tut tut tut

Final Update on the ebay Megane for Auction. Someone went bananas and paid €1700 for it. I thought €700ish would be tops... !! as a matter of interest would anyone recommend ebay auction as a way of buying a car?

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Renault-1-4-Megane-Zero-milage-Selling-complete-car-spare-parts-only-/111076188393
looks like it is a damm good way to sell one, one would need to be careful spending that kind of money after a test drive, never mind some hopeful sellers spiel.

If you knew the real mileage it's only worth the NCT/ a tenth of the asking price....

If it were clean at least!

I did notice the stuff I said the last time was taken into account, must be gawking through boards :pac:

Hate those fcuking Stilo's. Honest to god the only good thing about 'em is the price. They're cheap and cheap for a reason. Hateful yokes!

To be fair the first run of them were loaded with spec. Loads of safety equipment, nice looking and something a bit different.

To paraphrase yourself, as long as you maintain them religiously and keep fixing them they're great :-)

I was looking at picking up a regular SR16, gearbox etc but if this is around in a month or two... Well, it's worth a look. :D

    VZR N1

Crashed, Almera front end and some dodgy body work but that's a doner and a half!

It is but the body work is in bits.
The engine and running gear are what make it special really.

Looks rough, proboaly has massive milage and could well be beyond enconomic repair but for €380 it could be alright

Jesus, being an old Nissan that should sit around for a while. Realisticly I could offer him €750 in 6 weeks...
    I'M SO TEMPTED!

Just work on it for a year until it's reasonable to insure. Hmm...

    Purchased this CLK200 today.
Overheating when moving slowly/sitting in traffic.
    ASR/BAS light on permanently.
    Needs 4 tires.
    Needs driver wing mirror, mirror.
Needs boot liner board and carpet.
Got it fairly cheeeeeeeap all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

nice! was only talking to one of the lads in work today with a 01 c200 (maunal) he said he struggled with the BAS light on the dashboard for a while and it turned out to be a faulty brake pedal stop light switch. the internals had broken down/ corroded. he swapped it for one from a scrapped e class of the same vintage and it worked.

    might help you out!

    Who's is the red FTO..?

That'd be mine aswell. My insurance is up for renewal and I can't justify the money I'm being charged so I'm giving it to the OH till I can sort out somewhere to put it.

I have to say, I love that shape of CLK.. Was seriously tempted to buy one before I got the A6. Are there any major and expensive issues with them that have appeared or are thet just ones that need continuous maintenance??

It was a kind of an impulse buy but I did do a little research before hand.
Rust is an issue with bodypanels and underbody.
Automatic transmission is prone to seals failing and leaking fluid onto the flywheel (won't be a problem for me as mine is a manual)
And the ASR light is a very common fault but very cheap quick fix.
I actually played up the ASR light stuck on as a knackered diff sensor and played up a whole lot of work involved in correcting it.
The seller had only purchased this car on the 10 of June this year so I imagine he bought it and suddenly realised he needed it off his hands asap.

Doesn't scare me, no harm in a bit of work.

No not me I'm afraid, this was my first fto which I bought from an Opel dealership in Louth.
