Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We are thinking of having a shot at bar before we go out. :P

    I'll be happy with 34. A top 10.

Just back home after playing in the Thursday Open. Hadn't played the course in many years so took the opportunity to get out and get some much needed practice in.

If we do indeed get the weather we are in for a treat as the course is in great shape. Not very long but you will need your short game to be on song to score well.

Feel I could win this or come 25th.

With your game you should eat up this course. Its going to be all about hitting good short irons and nailing a few birdies or eagles. All the par 5's are quite accessible.

I would expect a score of around 43 pts will be the winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,985 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Ah - only joking, feel it is a course that local knowledge is required.

Honestly think most courses like that need about 5 + games to get them and then even at that , it keeps giving after every game. A sign of a great course.

People may say - sure it is straight forward enough, but courses whit big rolls need you to understand them well.

Has to be one of the Kildare gang. Sure Kildare need to win something this weekend.

Maybe the favourite fixit doubled up with jack hobbs for the win or will it be a fillie double up against the colts qualify and shaunac93 ? or maybe the return to form of the old timer macker:)(word is good from the gallops).

Great day and as always good company.

The course was very easy so I expect some big scores.

My first time to play it and I quite enjoyed it. Had 39 that could have easily been 42 if I got my wedges closer. Had a nice eagle on the index 2 par 5 though.

Fix tells me my long drive on 18 didn't hold up, you know its not your day when 306 gets beaten !!!

Great just to turn up and play, thanks Seve and all for the organisation.

Oh and under 4 hours ! 3 balls rock !

Hit Glastonbury too hard last night. So, off to a bad start in the usual tradition.

Had a class day with mafc and The Champ . Was nice to have local knowledge and to watch The Champ bomb it.
I love courses that are a little different - can see it played easy today and Macker was spot on that a 42/43 was there. Even if Macker spoke the word that can not be spoken after "b
    "

Mafc looked like he had another appointment after, I played as slow as I could to wind him up more. Good laugh all round. You can see mafc has that deadly short game I wish I had.

Class long drive to take 306 yards- how far past did it get lads ?

I had a great round on the go - but after hitting some of my best shots of the day - I 3 putted twice, in fairness, only thing I did wrong all day on greens. Never got that 2nd or 3rd bird needed to win one of these.

Still, I won a pink purse, a Dunlop golf set , 54 euro for 1/2 the 2s and won at losing on the back nine again.

A few of us hung around after - nice to get to know a bit more about people. People are looking forward to the Jug and the drinks in Cork (big time)- and we chatted about how hard it is for Seve to pair people, as let us be honest - we don't know each other that well as a team.

Seve - as everything has been planed so well so far , will do another great job.

Tiger enjoyed his few pints , he loves winning.

Not sure If I'll be at summer events - work has me this time. But, never say never.

Catch all again soon - Glastonbury on the way.

Today was a day for the old guard - to show the new guard , we are not gone away yet.

Also - Tiger would have given the real Tiger a good game.

"Is it true you always wanted to touch one of Rory's balls Tiger ?" :P

Thanks again to seve and the organising committee for the fabulous day out as always.

My day started off with a lovely sausage sandwich which I finished at 9.24 in birr only to realise I was meant to meet CharlieIRL in a town half an hour away at 9.20 oops my bad!! Missed having banter in car and sitting shotgun for first time ever. Away got in my car and pulled into curragh at 10.31 (thank God guards don't go on back roads much anymore)

Had a very enjoyable round with macker and roadrunner. Myself and mackerel played some good golf most of the way round almost point for point but unfortunately a couple of bad shots mainly putts around 15,16,17 kinda ruined what could have been good scorecards. Roadrunner didn't have a great day today unfortunately, his bad shot decided to come out of hibernation. He got the shot shape working in his favour a bit on back but there was a sense of too little too late, some nice shots played though and plenty of potiential ( especially after the lesson from fixed and myself in the club house)

I was happy enough with most of my game today although took after my fellow county man and Had a cold day with putter. How I didn't break it or throw it away after 3putting the 16th from inside 8ft I'll never know. Anyway things can only get better.

Positives were my iron play was decent although need to figure out distances with new swing. And I think that's the most points I had in a boards outing. Just warming up for the big 3 :)

Course was is great condition and lovely to play. Will defo be back again. Look forward to the next outing already...anyone want to play practise round?? :)

Sometimes it's fun to be on the lossing side of bet and i was only to happy to hand charlie his 2euro after i wrongly predicted the winning score 38pts or less, little did i think i would beat it by four. did'nt think i would be on the winners podium today but there you go thats golf for ya. what a great day hit the driver really well today think i only had 2 pars and one birdie but made some great saves for no worse that bogie on all but one hole;).

Started the day in two ball with ballyk(hope all ok parlance) but merged with karl and pat to make fourball after fourth. Great longest drive by karl at the last.
Being a local course i was able to hang on and have a few bulmers(mrs collecting me) and really enjoyed the chat with fixthepitchmark, princess poppy and recycled who fair play to him hung on to the end even with a two and half hour drive ahead of him (reckon we should have a prize for the most miles travelled for the year:)).

Finished off the a great day with a barberque and few more bulmers and hopefully inside the top ten for the jug, was delighted to receive golf ball used by rory will be going on the mantlepiece covered by perspec.

A big thank you to seve for his hard work and dedecation to make this society the success it is today.

What a great day that was, fine course, fine weather, fine company.Thankfully had the young lad to caddy for me, leg feeling the best it has in months after a round(tho taking ibuprofen and paracetemol before playing defo helped too...hope we dont ever have drug testing or I will be f***ed now I have found the elixir of life :)
Had the pleasure of playing with spacecoyote and keano, two sound lads, myself and space played okayish, keano's game was left at home but still good craic around.
Scored 33pts, 17 front 16 back, chipping and putting was good, well the long putts were, started second guessing with the short ones and pulled a few because of it, still at my level anyday I can go around a strange course in 30+ points is good for me.
Thanks again to Seve and the committee for organising another great day out and well done to Tiger...again..dont ya just hate it when someone with 42 points starts telling ya about the ones they left behind..haha
Cheers all, see yez next month.

In fairness Seve it had to be said, from experience I know the amount of work that goes into organising a day like this, mostly all behind the scenes where nobody ever looks, and all we have to do is either turn up or give a heads up if we cant, not just is it a sh1tty thing to do but it the height of disrepect to the Captain and the committee and people would want to cop on and either decide to do the right thing or just dont join..simples.
