Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Every time I hear the name I think of Alison Steadman in "Abigail's Party" saying "Demees Roossoss"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,637 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

I remember Roussos from an earlier time when he worked with Vangelis in the Greek progressive rock band "Aphrodite's Child". I was a hipster even then. Gonna search-out and play the album "666" and give it a spin later tonight.

Sad to see Demis go, but like others, amazed at how young he was. I really thought he was more Nana's vintage. R.I.P.

Couldn't believe it when I heard on the news that Derek Davis had died. Was only listening to him last weekend on the Marion Finucane programme.

He was a wonderful broadcaster and a bon vivant who knew how to enjoy himself.

Very sad that his retirement was so short.

    RIP big man.

Sorry to hear about Bill O'Herlihy's passing. He first came on my horizon when he did that unforgettable programme about money lenders. His own life was threatened at the time - brave journalism and ground-breaking at the time.

Sorry, I didn't mean to minimise the loss, just that (in my world at least) Jerry was very well known.

Their baby daughter was also left critical in the accident, and left an orphan at the very least, very sad on so many levels,

    Young family decimated,
    Supreme sporting talent snuffed out,
Both parents too young to die needlessly,
    All preventable.

This one slipped by me a couple of days ago. Chris Squire, bass player with the band Yes. Gonna wipe the dust off "Tales of Topographic oceans" and "Closer to the Edge" today and doodle the Yes logo onto a denim jacket.

probably her best song (and one she found the most difficult) was Alfie, for the soundtrack.

This Youtube clip shows the efforts she went through.

Always a big fan of Minder myself. I don't think the BBC would have done Only Fools & Horses only for it.

Read recently that during the run of Minder, George Cole was in a restaurant when he heard someone exclaim 'the world is your lobster'. He knew immediatly that it would be a perfect line for Arfur.

He paid his fellow diner £25 on the spot for his trouble.

    RIP George
