Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hello,

    I have been rowing on an concept2 for about 8 months now and I would like to get outside onto the water! Does anyone have recommendations of a club that would welcome a new member? I figure I need an introductory course as the techniques are quite different!

    All tips welcomed!

    The attitude to adult beginners has improved a lot in the Irish clubs and many of them, including both of the big Dublin clubs (Commercial and Neptune) run learn to row courses. You will find links on the club websites or on Rowing Ireland. There is also a specialist club, Phoenix Rowing Club, in Islandbridge which trains people to row recreationally in touring boats rather than the racing shells used in the competitive clubs. Recreational rowing compared to competitive rowing would be more like hill walking compared to running or race walking.

    Oh thanks Deesalaam. I will look into Phoenix Rowing club. I have emailed Neptune but I have gotten no responce from them. I will try again later this week.
