Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Spit actually isn't a real aircraft. I believe that this is fibre-glass replica. Nice pictures all the same.

    4) I thought the Bison too. It might be a Beagle though.

    6) Think it's an SU 15. One of the same type that shot down KAL007

The rest you guessed same as me

There used to a lot of gate guard spits back in the 70's /early 80's they replaced them all with replicas ( Uxbridge/Northolt being examples )

Yep, saw this on episode one of James May's Toy Stories (the one where they build a full size Airfix Spitfire) - the company who make the replica spitfires made him the one-of-a-kind kit in question :)

Bought my bro a voucher for Simtech Aviation for christmas, breifing and flight job,
Really friendly staff and great and teaching you in an un-complicated and understandable manner,
He loved it and I got to sit in and carry out some 1st officer duties,
Take-offs, Landings and rejected take-offs, great stff, enough to convince anyone who thinks they would love flying that they would definately love flying, as such both me and him are join a flight club and start lessons and then who knows...

    Anyway, some pics:

Gah, you're making me jealous now! Was lucky enough to have a (very brief) go on a B737 simulator too once - in SAS's training facility in Arlanda (Stockholm) a couple of years back, but my camera was back in my hotel on the one day they decide to give us the tour! Waah! :(

(As an aside, they used the heat output from the computers running the simulators to heat the (rather large) building, which when you consider it's in Sweden, that's saying something :p )

can you book vouchers for their new avro simulator or can the public only use the 737?

Their moving to a new building on an industrial estate just down near the end of the 28 runway,
They'll be moving the 737 out there aswell, the new ATR cockpit will be set up in March(its currently on its way from Canada), they'll also have the Avro out there too, and I think they said their moving the Aer Lingus one(its mahooosive) there too, so you'll have a few options if you wanna try,
I believe they'll all be available(though I'm not sure about the Aer Lingus one) to use,

well worth the money....but be prepared to get bitten by the flying bug, and its got quite a set of fangs:D

    thanks for the info!

so by march do you think it'll be all set up in the new premises?

it would be great if there was 4 different sims to choose from

Well the instructor said the new ATR will be ready in March, I think the Avro is in the new place already(the building is open, they just havent moved all the simulators in yet), so they'll also need to move the Aer Lingus one and the 737-200,
It would be nice to choose which one to use, that said you get less time on the newer ones simply becasue they are more expensive to run and maintain,
eg: with the 737, you get 30min briefing and 1hr flight, with the ATR(full glass cockpit) you'll get 30min briefing and 30min flight though these might change over time.

    Thanks,
Its a good thing im so into aviation and what not because the amount of 777's, 747's or A340's can sustain my interest when sitting there in a queue for so long, that said I'm sure it gets old fast when your doing it every other day!

We should really do something about these extraordinary rendition flights, a 747 is just ridiculous.

    WTF..

Joke - the extraordinary rendition flights that supposedly used to go via Shannon looked like small cargo planes in plain colours with no branding or whatever.

The 747 reminded me of them - the joke being that the US are using 747s now rather than Gulfstreams.

I didn't get much sleep last night.
