Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I also found this link. it seems likely you will have to order it from Britain. It's so hard to get special art material in Ireland. I have to send away to USA to get kitchen wax paper used to pick up loose gold leaf.

Just to note that this is a US site and therefore any orders would be subject to customs etc. There is no mention on the site of delivery outside of the US.

www.Craftemall.com - it's a new Irish website selling jewellery making supplies. Great for people looking for unique sterling silver supplies, Bali beads and lampwork beads.

Are you talking about 'freezer paper' by any chance? This mysterious substance that Americans always seem to have to hand but we don't appear to need!

If it is I have a link somewhere for an Irish supplier. It's handy stuff for sewing, painting, etc.

If anyone is in Blanchardstown to go to Inspiring Ideas, make sure you go across the road to the centre & check out Mr. Price. They have a whole aisle of art & craft supplies, including paints, canvas, paper, etc. They do alot of kid's stuff and a small section of (cheap) stuff for cardmaking. You can get a pack of blank cards for €2, a "fancy paper" selection for €1 and assorted card/paper packs for about €3. I also got double sided tape for 50c!

They don't have any specific craft items, but for the basics it's the cheapest I have found anywhere.

    Hi All

I'm looking for a paste that has a slightly uneven (sandy texture) can be used on loads of different materials and things can be stuck in and it can be painted. Something like in this link but they don't deliver to Ireland. (http://gonis.de/produkte/tischdeko/reliefpaste/). I'm sure corkartsupplies.com has something in stock but can some one maybe give me a product name? Thanks a mill for any help.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭TreasureBin

There are various brands available, like Aleene's Design Paste or other 3D pastes - but maybe they're not identical to what you want?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭happydayz8

thanks for that TreasureBin. Don't think that's it. Rather pricey for what I need to do too. I think I may try Pollyfiller. I've still plenty of time to complete my little project!:D

I've done different projects with a tub of grouting plaster and it worked quite well. Can be coloured with acyrlic paints before or after. ;)

Just want to recommend this wonderful site. It operates much like eBay but their insertion fees are considerably lower and their support is magnificent.

If you want to bring your business/creations to a global audience I would urge you to spend time browsing their site.

I have used these guys when in college for making my models. They stock most stuff needed by architecture students, except grey card. Very quick delivery, www.balsa-wood.net.

Amazon does send stuff to Ireland but if you're buying from a third party, it would depend on that individual where they want to send stuff to.

Just spotted this one on Ebid: http://ie.ebid.net/for-sale/metres-feet-white-wedding-party-cotton-bunting-handmade-jubilee-wedding-63983276.htm

    hi

    www.artmaterialsco.com

I am an artist and have had great help from this site.As to there prices and product there is an amazing spectrum to be found here. From artist to student quality and they deliver on time. One time they didnt have what I ordered so they sent me a better brush, now how often will art shops do that.Really I have been to 90% of the shops on the replies sent in the only other that I now go to is EVANS.They are one of the best for canvas and are helpful to as far as discounts and delivery.Remind them about being an artist to get your discount.
Agree with John that www.artmaterialsco.com is excellent.

I know I am quoting old posts, but I used artmaterialsco.com recently after reading these recommendations and 3 of 4 items I received were not what I had ordered. It almost seems like they took it up on themselves to send alternatives if the ordered items are out of stock.

Any else have experience with this place?

For anybody who wants to order from The Art Materials Company ( www.artmaterialsco.com )

I ordered stuff from them 3 times. Each time some items were missing. First time they said they will refund money, but they only marked it on their website as refunded and it never reached my bank account. Second time I had to wait one month to get missing items. Third time they send me only half of the items. For 2 weeks I was trying to contact them via email and phone - no reply. Finally I made a claim using chargeback and got my money back. It took 3 months… Their stuff is great but I will never bother again.

I bought stuff from there before, Fabriano paper, paint, brushes etc with no hassle, the other day I placed an order of paint and mediums. The paint was System 3 and it was on offer, as was the Cryla Artists' quality paint at the time. I got all the System 3 stuff but...

    I ordered:

Cryla Oxide of Chromium, Phthalo Blue, Raw Umber and Titanium White all 75ml

    I got..

W+N Oxide of Chromium, Raw Umber and Titanium White all 60ml
    Rembrandt Phthalo Blue 40ml..

    Ordered:

    Liquitex Basics Heavy Gloss Gel

    Got:

W+N Artists' acrylic gloss gel and Atelier (Chroma) Modelling Compound...

The thing about the gel is that the Liquitex costs €5.50 but what they gave me was W+N @ €10.95 + Atelier @ €9.95... I never used heavy gloss gels so rather than spend €10-€20 on stuff I thought I'd just try the cheap one first.

Don't get me wrong the stuff I got is better quailty like I pointed out above but it cost them €15 to replace a €5 order. Replacing the paint also left me some what confused, I think I'll just stick to Cork art supplies from now on.

Last time I ordered items worth around €350. They didn't send me 13 items (worth around €150) out of 40. Items posted to me were also not as I've ordered. Some brushes were smaller some bigger than I've purchased. Some were cheaper some more expensive. They've send different watercolor papers and sketch books than I've ordered. It was one big mess. They don't answer emails and phone calls and address on their website is PO box, so I couldn't ship it back. This company is very unprofessional. Serious retailer should notify you before sending items different than ordered. Lack of customer service is unacceptable.
I was waiting around 3 months to get my money back via chargeback. During that time I couldn't use purchased materials…
I choose my materials very carefully and it makes for me a difference if I get brush size 18 instead of 6 and it doesn't matter if 18 is more expensive. I needed size 6 for my artwork, but it seams The Art Materials Company knows better.

Celebrations on middle abbey street have a really good selection of arts and crafts materials at the mo, and canvases are much cheaper in there than eason's and the art and hobby shop :)

I haven't heard of that shop before. Is it an art supplies place or just a general wares shop that happens to sell canvases? (I googled but found nothing). I find tracking down supplies quite difficult generally. There isn't any 'one stop' shop that has a great range of everything 'artsy' and most of Amazon items in arts supplies other than books are marketplace sites that never seem to ship to Ireland.

Mind you http://corkartsupplies.com/ seem pretty good. I placed a substantial order there recently which was filled in full and arrived promptly.

They do a lot of stationary, but a good few art supplys aswell, and craft supplys, such as textured papers, coloured papers, stuff for making your own cards, paints, paint brushes, clays etc. good value aswell, a bit cheaper than easons, thre is also Evans and Reads which can be quite good value aswell.
