Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Same as yourself kauto. Absolutely exhausted & have zero appetite due to severe nausea. I could easily get 8/9 hours unbroken sleep a night & wake up feeling like I got 10 minutes shut eye. I can't take iron due to sickness & my blood pressure is constantly low so it's extremely frustrating to say the least.
My gp has told me to try iron tonics like floradix but the sight & smell of it is enough. I really can't drink it.
Does anyone else have any recommendations on how to get iron into my system? Some articles recommend iron injections, is that a common thing or has anyone heard of it before? I feel I need a boost but I know I won't be able to achieve it with my diet or a tablet.

Unfortunately kauto you could well be sick for the duration of the pregnancy, I know I was horrendously sick the last time so fingers crossed you don't go through the same. Baby came out perfectly healthy but it took me a while to bounce back properly. I suppose the one good thing is that I didn't really have any weight to lose because I didn't get an opportunity to put any on! Silver lining & all that ha ha:)

I know that feeling, I could sleep for 10 hours at night, get up, have a bit of breakfast, get dressed, clean my teeth and then need to lie back down. I just have no energy at all.

Food-wise I know I'm not eating as well as I should but with the nausea it's so hard! I have hardly any appetite :-(

I know. I have great ideas of eating really well but in reality I'm doing extremely well if I manage a dry cream cracker or a slice of brown bread. I get so jealous of other women when they talk about cravings & eating non stop :(

12 weeks today, woop woop! (by dates, that is - measuring 5 days bigger, according to a 10 week scan. Hmm)
Telling the in-laws on Saturday, can't wait. My little girl turned one last week, and I just think it's so amazing that there's another one growing inside of me.
Also, I've already got a bump going on! There's really no hiding this any longer! :D

Get one of those pregnancy pillows - they look like a big snake, that snakes around your bump and bum. I have a sleep-genie, I think? That really helped me in my first pregnancy - and keeps you on your side, when you're not supposed to sleep on your back anymore. That said, sleeping on your back gets really uncomfortable anyway once the bump gets big.

3 weeks have passed & i'm going for my real 12 weeks scan today! All excited. Next week i've my obstetrics appointment in CUMH. I'm hoping to go on the Domino scheme with a Doula as I feel thats the best use of my maternity over going private that I can't really afford. Ive rediscovered penneys for cheap "hiding" clothes. Lovely low rise chino's for 13euros, you can't really go wrong, plenty of growth room in them too. I can't wait to make it official now! I wonder is Kate Middleton a March 2015 too ;-) she might join our board! lol.

awe so exciting about the scan, have mine on Thursday, cant wait to be able to tell everyone else then! haven't bought any maternity clothes yet but got a bag of them off my sister, been living in maternity jeans and leggings for the last 2weeks or so!

think my nephew is tryin to sabotage my pregnancy :-P my sis thought he had slapped cheek syndrome yesterday and went Dr who rang temple street and asked and it could be it, so have to say it at my appointment on Thursday to get a blood test to see if i'm immune! and then today she texts to say he has the vomiting bug! fingers crossed I didn't catch either!!

Finally had booking appointment and first scan this morning. Thought it would take ages but was in and out of Holles St SP in 45 mins! Everyone is so nice in there.

All looking good anyway - there was lots of waving and bouncing around going on. Felt very strange watching it on the monitor - it was like watching something on TV that had nothing to do with me.

Took the plunge after that and bought a pair of maternity trousers for work in Mothercare - everyone super nice in there too.

Planning to tell the family at the weekend - first grandchild on my side so should be fierce excitement :P

Congrats cheese princess! First grandchild is always super precious. No wait in CUMH we'd to swop scan times with a couple as my husband was running late by 5mins, haha, I had expected long queues.

Bit late joining this thread but here I am!

So we are expecting baby number 3, due March 18th.

Bit of a surprise pregnancy but I think I'm getting used to the idea. My baby only turned 1 last month so I know I'm going to have a busy time on my hands!

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭baby_pebble

Congrats :) when is everyone planning to start picking up a few bits? Don't want to start too early but don't want to end up buying very thing at once either

I think I'll just get the bare essentials after Christmas. Lots of people say they bought way too much stuff and didn't use it and it's better to wait and see what you need.

Plus MIL is already talking about the hamper she's putting together so there'll be loads in that :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭baby_pebble

I'm thinking more so the cot, buggy carseat and those must haves? Would rather get them over length time, alot of money if I buy them at once :P

started looking up buggy/travel systems because thats going to be the biggest expense, my sister and 2 sister in laws all had their first babies around same time and all bought different ones, I have used them all and theres only 1 i'd buy, its the baby jogger city select, but there expensive and cant seem to get himself to understand why I want that one! at least by looking now we can save for it and it wont be such a sting!
his mum is paying for our cot when I pick one! and think we can borrow Moses basket off a friend.,
we both got new cars recently and neither of us have isofix now so least thats one expense we wont have now!!
haven't anything actually bought yet, need to clear out the spare room first!

Hello ladies & congratulations to you all. I'm 16 weeks, due on the 04th of march after 2 miscarriages in the last year so really excited that this time all is going well so far.
Do any of you have any groin pain when walking or going up-down stairs?

Nearly 16 weeks now and definately have a bit of a bump

  • Registered Users Posts: 42 E_M_K

I've started back running now that my boobs aren't super sore anymore but I've got sore ribs after it!! Esp around the top, near bra line, is it from moving ribs? Has anyone had this? My energy levels hav picked up too since the first trimester is over. Any good suggestions for pregnancy Pilates/ yoga in cork area? Trying to keep active so it's easier on the other side. I signed in with the domino scheme in CUMH.

Hi - just found this thread, glad to know I'm def not alone with the sickness, exhaustion, sore (giant!!) boobs and bloating etc Biggest issue for me is the bloodhound nose...I swear I can smell a bad smell 3 miles away. And the slightest smell makes me gag...mouthwash, the new sofa we got, hubby's aftershave, the air freshener in the toilets at work, the smell of the new (to me) car...the list goes on and on and on.

Anyway I'm 15+5 today due around 14th March - and just had my 2nd scan in Holles St on Monday, was great to see babs waving at me with his/her big long fingers :) He's developed a lot since the 12 week scan.

Already had to give in to the maternity jeans...the belly has popped already! not sure if it's all baby or all bloating but it's definitely there.

Woke up today with a pain in my back, have had issue with my back for good few years now sadly so I know pregnancy will only get tougher on me. Any tips on getting comfortable in bed aswell? Should I buy a pregnancy pillow or anything like that?
Don't even have a big bump yet or anything so can I only imagine how i'll be getting bigger!

Has anyone got the flu vaccination? They're doing them in work next week and everyone says pregnant women should get them. But I've been over-googling and saw a couple of mentions of a link between the flu jab and autism in kids. Don't know what to do now

i'm unsure what to do about the flu jab too! I used to get it every year but for last 2 I wasnt able too because I had a cold at the time and now i have one again, maybe its a sign!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭baby_pebble

I have never had the flu vaccination and never suffered any major flus maybe the odd sniffle with the really cold weather. Feel strange now that I never got it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 42 E_M_K

I only had this conversation at work this morning, we get it here. My friend is a pharmacist & said I should get it as a flu is really bad for the baby (proper flu where you're in bed for a few days zonked) but I can't rem the last time I got a dose like that. I'm of the mindset if your fit & healthy your body should be able to fight these things but its not just me anymore. Hows everyone doing anyway??

Popping in from May thread (I read all the threads, think I'm obsessed!) just to say it's a combination of the flu being quite dangerous for the baby but also when pregnant your immune system is a lot lower than normal so there's also a greater chance of you catching it! It's that combination that leads to the recommendation that all pregnant women get the vaccine. I'm a pharmacist and have a super immune system from all the bugs and illnesses I'm exposed to in work - usually get one cold a year if that and haven't been on antibiotics since I started working in pharmacy but I've had 2 horrible colds already since becoming pregnant and will be getting the vaccine as soon as this one passes

Your body's immunity is quite compromised when you are pregnant, that's why the vaccine is advisable :)

I'll be getting the vaccine as I did with my last pregnancy.

My GP who is pregnant herself recommended I get it sooner rather than later so I'd rather not take any chances :)

Almost 19 weeks now. Bit worried that I've not gained any weight but am in maternity clothes since 9 weeks and have a very visible bump. Have 20 week scan on Monday so looking fwd to that and hoping that all will be good :)

Hope everyone else is fit and healthy :)

Thanks @angeldelight for the insight! Sometimes all the info on the internet is all too impersonal and not very reassuring in any direction.
I'm 15w5d. Its funny how I feel like I've just started to blossom in the last week. I'm still in my own jeans but they are starting to feel tight especially in the evenings or after a big meal. I got some lovely comfy maternity skinny jeans in Topshop at the wknd (much cheaper order online though even in sterling!)
Another question for ye, has anyone started Pregnancy yoga or Pilates? I feel like i'm not pregnant enough looking to go (i know that sounds silly) will I be bored now versus a normal Pilates class?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭Cheese Princess

Thanks all for flu jab feedback. General consensus among health professionals it to definitely get it so I think I will. I've had flu maybe three times in the last ten years and it's horrible even when you can take all the good drugs!

On the subject of maternity clothes, I got some stuff from Asos last week and it's great. So much cheaper than maternity type shops and very comfy. I got two pairs of jeans, work trousers and skirt, leggings, tights, a cardigan and four long sleeve tops for €250.

I've signed up for pregnancy yoga from next week. I'll be 16 weeks then and not really showing much either but I think it'll be good for stretching and breathing etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭yamiki

Thanks for the reminder about the yoga girls, I must try and sign up for a class as well, 17 weeks gone now.
I did it last time, and some of the moves were a lifesaver for me when I was walking the corridors in labour. Contraction? Lean forwards against the wall, with your arms, and do big circles with the hips. aaah. :p So I'd definitely recommend it.

Good to know on the yoga moves @yamiki I plan to start a pregnancy yoga class this wknd, its PAYG so i can commit as much or as little as I want then. @Cheeseprincess on the ASOS clothes are they true to size or a bit big? I found i'm normally a 10 but ASOS can be hit & miss on sizing. I did come across across nice maternity clothes on a site mamalicious & beautiful bumps recently, def worth a look.

So got my first ever flu jab today (18weeks) doc def recommended it as it's safer for baby! My arm is so so sore though :( other than that everything looks good solid heartbeat measuring good an weight gain is good, all bump she said :)
On a downside took patch test for getting my hair done (just incase developed an allergy from pregnancy) turns out I have and had an instant reaction!! Was very sad not being able to do my hair next week :(

Just wondering did the gp charge you for the flu injection or count it as part of the combined care?
Also do you normally get your hair coloured? I was thinking of getting mine done too, I better get strand test first.

I have a medical card so I'm guessing that covers my jab? I always get my hair coloured but since I got pregnant I didn't do it, so I booked in with my hairdresser, told her I was pregnant so she done a skin test and straight away it was itchy and burning! She told me to try another salon with different product but to make sure I get skin tested!

Try Aveda colour, it's mostly natural :)
