help lookin for the names of some good books about the mission to the Congo
those pics that sparked my interest

At what point during the deployment did the Irish contingent get issued with the FN FAL. Parade photo show the Lee Enfield.

Was it changed because the Defence Forces were upgrading or for operational reasons.

Either way a tough gig but they are/were tough men.

Hats off and Respect to them all.

I went looking not that long ago, but couldn't find anything. I will look again later. Amazon would proubley be your best bet

As far as i know the FN FAL was issued later. They deployed with the Lee Enfield.

As said, hats off to them. They were doing a tough job and suffered a lot of loss. Brave men indeed

Mad fact , served with one of them (REAL OLD SWEAT ) and was shown their dog-tags ..... made of leather !

Can anybody shed some light on the type of helmet the mortor operators are using? Looks very strange.

If I'm not mistaken I've seen this pic before and that's a HK417, yum-yum! I'd love to know what he's aiming at though, considering the 'copter is on the ground.
