Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Order have been added to Oxegen's sister festival T in the Park so they should be playing Oxegen aswell.

That would be good, but New Order are just the kind of band that would play T in the Park and not Oxegen. There are always a few big name bands that don't.

Will chemical bros be playing again this year? Any one got a few possible that might get the line up? Any chance of QOTSA, even though Homme is seriously ill

Should have gone to the Phoenix Park last year then. And word on the street is that Eminem is playing Slane.

Well there are always bands who play T but not Oxegen/Witnness. Me thinking New Order won't play here... No reason really. Just a feeling. I'd like to see them, so hope I'm wrong.

Honestly what a f**king line up for Oxegen this year. Things were great last week as they were but with Queens of the 'Motherf**king' Stone Age playing this is just going to be the best weekend ever! :D There are so many bands I love playing (probably too many!) I probably won't get to see them all!

Only 4 months away now! :D:):D:):D

A mate of mine claims Athlete have been confirmed.
That'd tempt me even more but he is a muppet so probably not accurate.

Eh... There'll be many many more. Should be 100 in total. But those are the biggest bands most likely.

    Very true.

Apparently the Frames are playing some festival thing down in Cork over the summer along with Paddy Casey & that shit band Damien Rice used to be in.

how are you able to say ****ed?

Be good to see the frames at Oxegen but then Travis might be better due to the rarity of em playing here

This has probably been asked before, but what's the story with bringing things into the venue, such as packets of cigarettes?
Are you searched so that you only buy the cigarettes or beer on sale inside?
Are there different restrictions for campers and non-campers?

I'm not a smoker but i wouldn't worry bout it ... i go in with at least a slab of beer each year and there's no problem - thats into the campsite btw.

from the flashbacks i can remember though they stop ppl with cans going into the venue area ... but yet i also have memories of drinkin lotsa cans inside the venue area .. brain + alcohol = mushy peas memory:confused:

You can bring as much alochol as you want (I think) into the camp site, but you can't bring it into the stage grounds. You can bring cigarettes into the campsite and stage grouds, I don't remember anywhere selling cig's at it.

They sell cigerettes at the kiosks alright, but you can bring you own in anyway. Cans allowed into the campsite but not the venue. Quite reasonable.

I don't think it was mainly due to David Bowie to be fair. There were people paying double the face value for tickets in the few days leading up to the festival. I'd blame it more on MCD's hype then anything else. Changing the name to Oxegen, having a little sun as the logo. People are idiots.

:o My friend and I queued overnight to get tickets to see David Bowie, everyone who wandered past thought we were nuts (lots of folks on Galway's streets at odd hours). But we did get 27c and an eclair of some drunk lad who thought we were begging (with a sleeping bag and a discman with speakers  )
And then David Bowie ended up being hospitalised just befor the gig! Soneday I'll get to see him...someday....

So just to recap, if you're going into the campsite, you won't get searched?

    For anything?

    Seems so..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭rabbitinlights

You wil be searched for glass and fire starting stuff. They might poke your sleeping bag etc when you go in first, but they only realy search people who are arriving with a tent and sleeping bag, if you look like your tent is already set up and are just walking from car park to your tent they dont normally bother.
