Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone recommend the best skin to use on the Fire TV stick with Kodi/Exodus integration?

I tried Titan out which was good, but brought whole thing to a standstill.

I use tvaddons on both my fire tv and fire stick - no problems and runs smooth. Have tired others in the past such as the beast and they were sluggish

Oddly stopped working on Fire TV box (gen 1) but kept working on Fire TV stick.

For me a change of DNS provider, followed by reboot of modem, router, switch and Fire TV fixed it.

Who did you change over to unotelly support are giving me the run around here.

Sent you PM, not sure if Boards like us talking about DNS providers.

Anybody running Mobdro on their Fire Stick? Does it run well? Can you select options with the remote without issue and everything?

Yeah I run it. Runs as well as expected (don't expect HD TV or anything)

Good thanks for that. What about when it flashes up ads etc, is it easy to exit from them as well as make selections in the menus using only the Amazon remote?

You can install a mouse app. It's slow but works fine.

But do you need it? And is the mouse app on your phone or on the Fire Stick?

Exiting ads is simple using the remote. You still have to wait for the X to appear though.

    I rarely see ads

I am finding this is not the case lately, there's an amazon ad that will not take the hint. It's impossible to hit the x with the standard remote. I have a Bluetooth remote with a mouse pad so that usually makes these things much easier but not on this amazon ad!

That said, there's a screen mirroring option on the firestick so if you have screen mirroring on your phone you can play any apps of your choosing on the phone and watch them via tv. Not ideal but workable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,872 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

You hit the "back" button immediately to get out of that Amazon ad. The ones with the counters are the ones you need to wait for before you hit the X.

i subscribe to Prime Video on the special offer and have two Fire TVs here, but i can't seem to watch Prime on there.

Last time I tried, it charged me £79.00 for full UK Prime, deliveries and all which don't work here.

Both are registered and showing in my account but i can't get my Irish Prime Video account linked.

    Any tips?

As far as I'm aware the video subscription open to us does not work on the Amazon Fire TV or Fire Sticks. You have to access it through an app on your phone or PC/laptop/tablet.

    Thanks.

Thats a bummer - it works on the app on the Living room tv anyway thankfully.

We do get short changed here ! I have an Echo too, and its seriously limited in Ireland.

Anybody who bought into these systems should have known beforehand that Amazon does NOT support them officially in Ireland. No point complaining if they are not fully functional.

Hopefully some day that might change, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

I think their legal department might have something to say about running illegal streams in their reception!

Nope. RTE is freely available to stream, as are Sky News/BBC on freesat.

Yes, straight from the providers with their permission, not the illegal streams from any other source.

Mobdro uses free public streams where available. Not all the streams are illegal.

Do you really think you can take a free stream and do what you like with it for your own profit? Sell your own ads on it, strip out the ads you would be forced to watch on the content providers pages and deny them that revenue? It's illegal, a SWAT team isn't going to kick your door in but it's still illegal. I don't see how anyone could argue that there isn't anything dodgy about the way Mobdro gets those channels.

Can you still get these anywhere in Ireland, especially now amazon is available here properly?
    In a physical shop?
They're not on the currys site

Amazon is not here properly. Amazon Video is available in Ireland but not with full UK offering and therefore the Fire TV/Stick devices are not available to buy/ship to Ireland.

Only way to buy is through Parcel Motel or similar.

Cool ,can I put my UK amazon account into it straight away and it will work straight away?
Can I put in an Irish Amazon account and with either is there any palava/mucking about to be done with post codes?
Is there any difference in what's available between the U.K. one and the Irish,I can use either as family members have both

    Thanks

Most of the UK content is geo-blocked so won't work in the ROI (perhaps it will with a DNS proxy or VPN).

Your Irish account should not work in the Fire TV/Stick.

Massive difference in what's available in the UK and what's available in Ireland. Barely worth the €2.99 they are charging for over here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 184 ✭✭Doctor Shivering

    That solves that so
I have a proxy service that unlocks ITV hub, five player and BBC player so I presume that will work the U.K. Amazon account

Do I have to register the stick or just sign in? It's being dropped over tomorrow to me
    Cheers

I note that firetv stick 2nd gen is available for pre-order on uk and german websites. Supports h.265 natively and will allegedly have alexa voice capability on launch.

I got the fire tv instead, man I'm in gadget heaven with it
Signed in with a uk prime account without a vpn or dns service and it works fine
It shows a list of what you can view abroad when you have an Irish IP signed in as U.K. Prime

    Love the interface,it's so slick
Bluetooth remote means you can have the box in another room with the hdmi cabled into another and use the remote- very cool
    Voice assistant is mad :D
Watching the new spy series patriot tonight, first episode is interesting
