Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ya musta been driving like a granny in a Micra to achieve that!

Drove to Galway and back from Dublin the weekend and made 28.25mpg. Not bad considering I had the cruise at 80mph for the majority of the journey.

EDIT: Just saw the 105kmph post - you were driving like a granny! :p

I always take it handy if i'm not in a rush, driving at the limit in this country on motorway can be infuriating. Got 34mpg all the same at 125kph to galway and back with 4 lads and luggage. They do well on motorways, shockin in town!

Yep! Guts of 30mpg on a nealy two tonne 3.5L barge @ 80mph is pretty good IMO! :)

City driving - not so much. :(

argggggggggh the poxy hours of rain today has defeated my tbar leak fix on one side

Phone call to Mr.T in the morning for an eccentric rod kit...I guess I may have to give in and get the seals if that doesn't work.

Changed the built in headunit in the Civic over the weekend. The difference in sound quality now is unbelievable, it really shows how crap the standard headunit is. The adaptor for the steering wheel controls doesn't work, I have been back onto the company who make the conversion kit and they were having problems with a JVC unit at the time aswell, but they are going to send me out a modified harness which should sort it.

That headunit changes the dull looking dash as well,
Are you upgrading speakers as well?
I am in a bit of confusion as to what to fit the the Toledo doors.

E38 7 series fire extinguisher, about €200 with all required brackets:

More or less, I knocked off the cruise control for a fair bit of the trip both ways due to boredom, didn't go much over it, averaged 53mph according to the car so wasn't straying much over the limit anywhere.

Got a load of stuff done to the car this weekend! challengemaster came down to kilkenny and we both installed the Eibach Pro Springs in his 320d and my 325. Learned a lot, and it took a bit longer than we thought.. Im still in bits :D

We also installed clear / smoked corners and side repeaters on my car and cm changed one of his mirror covers he might post a few pics.

    before:

    8b4a2.jpg

    after:

    b8571.jpg

    Removing the old spring

    44361.jpg

Difference between stock and eibach springs!

    8587c.jpg

    Installing the eibach spring

    8babb.jpg

Cleaned all the components and cleaned the top mount bearing with WD40 and re-greased it with fresh grease

    8996c.jpg

There was a small but noticeable drop but its supposed to take a few days and a few 100 miles to settle in.

    a1c28.jpg

There is a big difference in handling, theres a firmer more stable ride and the steering is much heavier and more precise which is nice.

Picking up a set of MV2 alloys friday night in Louth and hoping to get some decent part worn tyres saturday and the angel eyes are going in too.. wooh!

    Mechanical refurb nearly completed...

Still have a few small bits to do, but my car is nearly in mechanically perfect condition!

Dare I say I preferred the orange lenses, but in fairness the lowering looks well worth it. It looks like you really bought a Minter Conzy, good to see there's a few decent 325's out there. :)

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

Thanks lads, I thought it was a bit dated looking but the small mods are bringing it up nicely. Cant wait to get the MV2s on as the current E90 alloys are the wrong offset and they rub a lot when theres a few passengers and a full boot.

Your mad 166man the orange indicators are like something off a JCB! :D

Looking into getting black trim to replace the chrome or spraying the existing one not sure.. and maybe a M Sport front bumper and ill be happy

Maybe seeing the entire car would help, or driving it for that matter :D. I don't know there's something sleeperish about the JCB tail lights. Pull up against a 318i and you wouldn't know, until you put the boot to the floor! Fine machine though I really like it.

Which may I ask are the MV2 wheels?

The wheels that are on it are not that popular, they are the standard wheels on the E90 320d M Sport as far as I know, most people opted for the MV3 style though. Selling them to my cousin for 150 as winter wheels for his E90 330D

Being as brutally honest as i normally am i was just about to post and say how the car looks much nicer with those as opposed to MV2's.

Mv2's are a nice wheel, don't get me wrong, but imo they were only nice on the cars they came on. if you can get a genuine set fair enough, but the reps don't sit nice.

    Still a nice wheel though.

They came on E46s didn't they? I think they even started on the E46.

    Yup, only on the E46.

By cars them came on i meant Genuine M sport E46's.

That said, MV4's are nearly nicer on an E46 than an E90.

I dont think I would be changing the alloys for a while if they weren't rubbing but they are unusable on my car. On the way to dublin the other day with a full car there was 2mm of clearence between the arch and the wheels :o every little bump made the car scrape the tyres.

I always liked the look of the MV2s long before I even considered buying a 325 so hopefully they will look well on the car.

i bought a set of wheels today, 17 Rs4's with new tyres. Gonna take off my wheels and give them a break/refurb.

Pure copy/pasta from BMW-driver... This is (again) what myself and conzy did at the weekend
Well, if anyone's been reading these threads lately and seen conzy's 325i thread you'll know we both tackled the Eibach fitting ourselves at the weekend.

Armed with the finest of BMW approved tools (:D), we got to work

    1E8184C5307F422D80A441AE050F0AD4-0000315821-0002723329-00800L-B71A929901C14BB78CA0E71E70C1E673.jpg

Because we're both idiots, we never took before photos. :D There's enough photos of the "process" in conzy's thread, and he was the one taking the during pics...

What the instructions don't tell you, is you may need to manufacture a 16 and 1/4 spanner for a very odd shaped nut.

Here's some quick after pics - my car is filthy, it was raining too... bleh

And we had a few of these left over at the end, no clue where they're missing from :D

    F1F72DCCCDD04769A1D3875A87325863-0000315821-0002723326-00800L-3782EA258A5242B2A96776BD38AD4BB8.jpg

    Problems found:

    1) Some gobshíte changed one shock by itself and now the other one has failed, result: I need to buy two new shocks.
    2) I'm nearly certain that my front driver side caliper is sticking... :(

Now I am certain my caliper is sticking like a mofo. I've come to a funny little question, fix it, or do a 330 brake upgrade on the front. I know this will skew the brake bias a little more, so I'll either tackle it with more aggressive pads on the rear or if that fails, fit a brake bias switch.

I'll be sorting german style pressed plates at some stage in the near future, I'm worrying more about the slight mechanical issues (ie. the sticking caliper and broken shock) first :) There's always time to beautify the car!

    God bless mr eibach!

My own 7k km rule was reached since the last one so i Changed the oil and oil filter today with fully synthetic 5w30 again. This is definitely the easiest car ive done this on, its literally a 10minute job. Also bought angel eye headlights from germany, they have a lever to switch from lhd to rhd which is obviously necessary.
Ordered corsa opc indicator bezels too.

Dont know if ill end up using the angel eyes or not but i bought them mostly for the projector headlight as i want to put xenons on this car

    In the last week ive
    Fitted lowering springs
    Changed the coil (temporary job)
    Changed spark plugs
    Oil and oil filter
Bought new headlights, xenons and vxr surrounds :D

i also had some horrible looking bobbling on the bolster of the driver seat. thanks to EPMs tip at the meet last sunday i used a razor to try and fix it

some of the seat before. it was like this on about a 6inch square patch

the bolster afterwards with the fluff accumulated

the end result of fluff, delighted. the seat is completely bobble free now, thanks Eoin :D

I put one of these on my sump. I know they are not suitable for every car but it makes it quicker and cleaner to drain the oil.
