January Transfer Thread - I want! I want! I want!

So then everyone can agree the team isn't good enough - at the back, in the middle, down the flanks and at the front. Yet again (why does this keep happening? :p)!

Father Christmas doesn't do transfer windows but if he did which players would you like to see him shove down the chimney, and which would you hope he takes back from previous years deliveries?

Name your club and what you reckon the budget might be.

Liverpool budget up to 15-20 million. Strikers. Two of them, a strong midfielder would be nice as well. Dunno how much I'd like them but right now Sturridge seems to be most likely but a few others names are floating about such as Tom Ince (which again looks very possible), Demba Ba, Burak Yilmaz, Bafetimbi Gomis and of course Darren Bent (!) In the middle Arda Turan would be a great addition but might be a more likely summer target.

Out Joe Cole and Stuart Downing to QPR/West Ham/Boro, talk of Reina to Arsenal again but hard to see that.

If Liverpool have a budget of £20m I'll be astounded.

Huntalaar would be the perfect signing imo, although I realise that it most likely won't happen for a number of reasons

Most likely to happen - a loan signing or two and maybe a £10m outlay.

    Manchester United fan.

If we can keep everyone fit I'm happy with the squad as it is tbh although I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Busquets type midfielder.

In the real world we will probably regret not getting cover for some position when we have our first to fifth choice in said position on the treatment table.

From a chelsea perspective a striker is the priority. Sturridge looks to be off leaving us with just torres. We will need at least one but probably 2 strikers. Will also probably be looking for a midfield with romeu out for 6 months.

With a lot of players just coming back from injury the main priority for me, a spurs fan, is a bit of competition for Bale and Lennon out wide. Someone like Willian from Shaktar would be great as he can play both wings.

    Club : Chelsea

    Funds : £10-30 Million

Players in : 1 CF, 1 CM (optional) 1 CB (optional)

    Players out : Sturridge (potential)

I think the squad is thin enough on quality. We have about 13 good players with 2 or 3 stand outs in that group but we need better cover IMO.

CF is the most widely publicised position we're meant to be covering, if Sturridge goes I think we'll panic and end up with a Bent or someone similar.

I'd be happy to see Huntelaar come in and maybe bring back Josh McEachran from a loan at M'boro, also Lukaku could come abck but I think they're doing ok on loan so bringing them back could hinder the good 1st team experience they're getting at WBA & M'Boro.

Sturridge looks lke the most realistic to be leaving at the moment, I cant see us moving in or out too many players until the summer when we could have another new manager.

if Spurs got Willian he would be straight into the team as the CAM
    great player

    Liverpool fan here.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel - young, good on the ball, but physical enough to cope with the Premier League. Natural goal scorer in a sh!tty team. £12 million should get him.

Douglas - powerful centre back who could be a weapon for us in set-pieces. Could be a very capable replacement to Carragher when he retires this Summer. Available on a free from FC Twente.

Thomas Ince - if we can get him for £4 million, then by all means we should sign him up. He might not start every game, but he is quick, has great movement and knows where the goal is.

except you guys need a better defence :pac:

Arsenal here , we also need a better defence , although the poxy manager ARS...HOLE wants to keep signing more strikers

we dont need strikers , were getting goals
we need defenders to prevent goals and all the draws were getting...

We have one striker. Striker is absolutely the #1 priority in January.

The defence is actually pretty well stocked. Although we could probably do with a left back for when Gibbs gets injured.

Arsenal should be looking to bring in 3 players in the 20 to 30 million range; 2 forwards and a midfielder. Instead we'll probably end up with Henry on loan for 6 weeks, the new Emmanuel Eboue and a project like Zaha if we're really lucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Spurs £10-£20m more for the right player.

Trying to think of who we need and the issue is concentration really Gallas Losing his late in the Game and Caulker too we are scoring plenty of goals Willian would be great if we can get him and would ease the burden of Lennon and Bale to break teams down.

Villa on Loan would be great if he really is unhappy at Barca but I don't expect much business if we get all our injuries back in the next two weeks(Dawson, Kaboul,Benny, Parker, Ade,Bale)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,720 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    Arsenal

LB cover (would be great if the player could cover RB too)
DM - M'villa would be cheap. Diame depending on his injury.

if those are done, get a top top winger and put Podolski and Walcott as further striking options.

I'm happy enough with our defensive options when fully fit.
When Vidic gets back to some sort of form I think you will see a lot less of those silly set piece goals that we have been leaking in abundance. That's where the majority of the goals we are conceding have been coming from.
Smalling back is a massive plus also and Evra has been playing much better of late.

    ManUtd:

Out: None (as I think this will be last season for Scholes and Giggs)

In: 1 CM, Knee caps to Anderson, Ankle guard to Cleverley and shorts to Phelan

    Newcastle United

In: I think Newcastle will spend between £15-20 in this window given the poor performances so far this season. If the rumours are true, then it look like Loic Remy will be arriving from Marsaille for £10m. Mathieu Debuchy was heavily courted in the summer and apparently the Toon are still interested, so if this move was to be completed, then your looking at about £5-6m. Depending on what goes out, a midfielder may also be signed.

Out: Obertan is apparently to shipped out in the Remy deal. Ba I feel is all but gone to either Liverpool or Arsenal and I can see James Tavernier going out on loan. Hopefully Marveaux will be retained, as he deserves a run in the side. But for some reason, Pardew is reluctant to play him.

I cant remember where I seen it, but I'm nearly sure it was on Boards. A poster said that he heard David Villa was being loaned to Swansea in Jan so he can basically build up his reputation again so Barca can sell him for as much as possible.

This was a few days ago, looks like he was spot on.

I didn't see that. The bet specifies loans count so it's a possibility. Would be great for Swansea!

I will get the ferry over to Liverpool and personally murder every single one of our scouting department, Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers if they allow Villa to go to Swansea and we sign Sturridge.

The ratio of how many times skybet go odds on with a player transfer to the amount of times said transfer actually happens is > 10:1, there's probably been contact between the clubs but imo there isn't a chance Villa will agree terms with Swansea.

Ajax fan who also follows Liverpool. Don't want Eriksen to leave mid-season but would love if he ended up at Liverpool. Huntelaar would be my number 1 choice. One of my favourite players. Scores goals. Full stop. Walcott and Ince should be whichever could be gotten, no room for both assuming another striker comes in (not sturridge please!!).

I have a feeling loans will be the way to go. In which case why not go for the likes of Kaka or David Villa? Worth a shot..... :p

(Kaka is probably still decent right?)

According to the media in Germany, Huntelaar thinks about staying with Sch****. Sorry, if I destroy any hopes of signing him

Have to correct myself, now Sport1.de saying, he's on the way to Arsenal in January

£179m spent on players the last 6 transfer windows and their team is still a mess. Ridiculous.

Whoever is making the decisions when it comes to transfers has a lot to answer for.

Sturridge had the best spell of his career at Bolton when he was a STRIKER.

He's incredibly greedy because he only thinks like a striker.
If Rodgers can coach it out of him and get him playing properly as a wide forward he'd be a good asset. Or actually play him as a striker.

    Sunderland

Huge, glaring need is at center midfield. A Mulumbu/Diame type (obviously those two won't come to us) is what we desperately need. Until we get this sorted we're never going to progress and it may be too late.

A center back would be nice. Michael Dawson has been rumoured and would be decent.

Other than that, keeping hold of Danny Rose would be great as Spurs have an option to recall him in January if they want.

As for outs? Can't see anyone who plays week in, week out going apart from Rose if Spurs want him back but he's not our player anyway. Hopefully players like Campbell and Bramble will be moved on, Ji and a few of the other young lads out on loan. I'd love Bardsley to be on his way too as he's basically a joke at this stage but he'll be needed as cover.

You're not going to get a young English striker with caps for less than 10million anyway.
