Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is the danger with buying from Halfords. They can't assemble bikes correctly.

I know it's not an aesthetic consideration but disc brakes and deep section wheels are a really crappy combination - the stiffness of the fork combined with that of the rims is likely to give poor ride quality even with wider tyres.

See this Cycling Plus review, for instance...

    http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-cannondale-synapse-hi-mod-disc-dura-ace-di2-14-48824/

"Handling is laser-precise, but your hands perhaps get a little too much information from the front end"

This is magazine-speak for "rides like crap".

No personal insults dude and I already wear glasses. They have no effect on my aesthetic sensibilities.

Or cpnsidering the ****ty tone of nearly all threads on this forum at the moment, I should reply with the standard:

"Well, I don't see you contributing with any constructive posts."

or my favourite and more pathetic

"I've gone through every page on this thread and haven't seen a worhwhile contribution from you"

From now on all replies in the negative should be in gif format, like

    or

beautiful. Pair of deep section carbon wheels with white decals would be the business on that. Hope you didn't have trouble getting it they're not the easiest crowd to work with but worth it in the end!
[edit] for that price though i'm gonna guess you bought it second hand and didnt have to deal with them!

Frame bought on here. Badly paint damaged. Carbontec recondition it by respraying rear triangle and compounding the rest for a few quid. Sram Force second hand, same with bars, stem (bothe Pro), seat post (FSA carbon) and saddle (Specialized Romin). Wheels are off previous bike (Ultegra).

All comes in sub 8kg too.

I love when a bike looks that good so reasonably - Way more satisfying than just buying off the rack

Lovely - I think Planet-X are doing some really nice frames these days. Far nicer than a lot of the big guys.

    Enjoy!

I went with him after clubmate had badly damaged frame repaired and resprayed. Nice chap.

Hi, it's pretty light for TI.. I think it's around 6.4kg or so with race tubs..corima rims with Tune hubs.

    Lovely bike.

It actually came with a white saddle (fizik ardea)
I stuck my Spesh Toupe on instead.
I prefer a black saddle & tape to white, just personal preference.
I've ordered Widget Grip Wrap tape in black.

I meant to say I went with a size M (I'm 5'9") and it fits me perfectly although the Canyon calculator was telling me to go with a size Small.
I find it light, responsive & fast and the front end is a bit lively.
Need to keep an eye on it!

I'm 5'9". Canyon told me M, so did bike fit but it was too big for me!

Same, I'm 5 9 and did actually go with a small and it fits perfect with a slightly longer stem. Its a racier fit though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,012 ✭✭✭furiousox

Yeah there's not a huge difference in measurements between the small & medium ucf.
The lower headtube on the 'S' was one of the things that put me off.
(Flexibility is not one of my strongest points)
The ucf M geometry is pretty close to my previous bike (Scott CR1) which was another factor in choosing.
    100mm stem on the M.

I'm 5'11" and also went with the Small frame, ultimately changing out the 90mm stem for a 120mm. Like yourself, it's a racier fit.

If I can be pedantic for a moment, the logo actually only shows St George's Cross and St Patrick's Cross. St Andrew's Cross has wider lines which would hide the "Irish" cross.

First carbon bike in 4 years. The basic Canyon CF SL with 105 though with a KMC chain. Definitely some cost saving on the part of canyon with their own brand bars and stems. I didn't like the shape of the bar that came with the bike so changed for a Ritchay Comp - a basic enough bar which still came in 80g lighter than Canyon's own brand bar. Anyway...

It's compulsory for Canyon owners. ;)
