Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I look forward to bending my S6 while making a 4k video call from 50m below the surface!

    See how I know this is mostly bull$hit? 6.0 is at least 2 years away. 5.0 has just been released and isn't even 1% of android devices yet. 6.0 hasn't been named, and won't be until near its release just like lollipop and kitkat. Anyone trying to think of specs samsung might use and saying that the latest android version in a month or two will be 6.0 is just full of it.

    7-8mp FFC is fairly pointless for video chats since you'd need a phenomenal connection to transfer that, though it could be a for a selfie conscious owner.

    Samsung is highly unlike to introduce something like purposely bendable phones without trialing it first in another device. LG have the G flex, rather than having that feature in the LGG3.

    I'm really hating this spec race when it comes to screen resolution. I have a 1080p 5" screen and I can't see any pixel no matter how close I look. Anything more than that is just going to be detrimental for battery life. I also have a QHD+ laptop (3200x1800) and I don't view youtube videos at more than 1080p because despite my really fast broadband, the lag is insufferable, and just not worth a minor boost in the resolution of my porn youtube music videos.

    I've also heard rumours of Samsung veering away from Qualcomm after an apparent fsckup over the snapdragon 810. Generally they use their own processors in devices not meant for 4g regions anyway on flagships.

    Samsung have struggled recently as the competition have really upped their game (Apple, Sony LG HTC other Chinese companies) so they really can't afford to just lob out an s6 which is just a slight update on the s5. They really need to push the boat out while at the same time making their phone more competitive cost wise. Should be interesting!

    Well it wont be Android 6.0 - there are reports of new Android One phones shipping with a new 5.1 version

    Interesting Photoshop from the unpacked invitation.

    Hearing a lot of things about there being two big S6 versions, one that has the "edge" bit like in that mock up.

    not sure how useful a feature that is, but I've never used it. If the s6 has specs as expected it will probably be my next device.

    QHD screen: no thanks. Stupid battery drain for absolutely no discernable benefit.

    I'd actually like phones to be a bit thicker and heavier. A thicker phone would fit in the hand better, be more comfortable and less likely to slip or get dropped.

    More importantly if the phone is thicker it'll allow for a bigger battery, possibly the most requested feature of phones.

    It really needs front or side facing speakers by now, the days of a rear facing mono speaker should be gone.

    The trade off is a larger "head" and "tail" of a device, meaning less % of the front being screen.

    Only 6 days left now until the S6 is revealed.

    There have been a few official teasers released over the last couple of days.

    Samsung posted the following to Instagram;

    5qfNtJ.png

    and this to YouTube;

    Looks like they're going with a metal body design.

    AT&T and TMobile uploaded varients of this promo shot today, which looks like the expected "Edge" variant;

    Looking forward to Sunday....

    I've been with iPhone for about 6 years now, thinking its time for change and with my upgrade overdue I'm holding out for this to see what its like.

    Interface wise the iPhone seems better than the S5 (my son has it) but limitations are far less restrictive with Samsung and thats probably whats leading my decision to change.

    What are peoples recommendations on the S5/6 in comparison to the iPhone 6, are there obviously benefits to one over the other or is is a preference thing?

    I like yourself have been with iPhone from the beginning I have an iPhone 6 at the moment and I waiting to see what this is like I'm going to make the change to Samsung the restrictions on iPhone don't bother me as there are ways round them I feel like a change and if I don't like the S6 I'll go back to iPhone I'm looking forward to Sunday to see it.

    The Samsung S5 was very underwhelming and sales have shown this to be true. Samsung better have something good up their sleeves, or they'll lose even more market share to the likes of LG and HTC.

    This promotion was leaked on Reddit from an apparently confirmed employee of Sprint who are to run the promotion. Phone looks good...

    Some of these images floating around too, but looks like a much earlier prototype to me. Some people pointing out what looks like stereo speakers for landscape/horizontal viewing...

    Go for the 64GB version, no need for SD card slot then.

    what about when this dies and you want to move to the s7 sledge.... SD cards are handy for continuity between phones. SD card slot is a deal breaker for a lot of people.

    Non-removable battery is a step back as well - given the usual bloatware on samsungs a spare battery is handy. No matter how good they say the battery will start of as being able to swap them out is useful... specs aren't worth a damn if there's no juice to power it.

    Knox can be a pain in the bootloader as well if you like rooting phones.... and no sign of an FM radio either.

    Minor niggles for some but already talking about "compromise". Given how much its going to cost its not a great start.

    In saying all that they'll sell them by the shed load.

    128 GB version .

    Stayed with the S4 over this time last year S5 didn't think there was anything worth getting the S5 at the time , even meteor staff pushed to take the S4 over the S5 .

    I'm all over the S6 when it hits the stores here ,
    I'm happy with a 32 GB with and sandisk dual drive handy if I need more space

    4hrs battery life when charged for 10 mins. Also most phones if not all do not have a removable battery anymore. And FM radio is long gone as well. You can pick up radio stations with your 4G data.

    Very disappointed with the battery, 2500 mh is smaller than the battery in my G2 which was released in 2013 and that QHD screen will suck the battery dry! It's a bit Meh for me, will have to test one out but most likely wait for the G4.

    As a long-time iPhone user I'm well impressed by the S6 Edge. I have an iPhone 5 which is a good phone but I'm seriously considering switching back to Android when this is released.

    The most important thing for me is the apparent lack of lag. This was always a problem in android compared to the buttery smoothness of iOS. Combined with Android 4.0 material design, this could be a real winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

    The lack of a removable battery seems to be a major backwards step and gets rid of a major Galaxy selling point. No sure why they opted against SD storage as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 723 ✭✭✭Luke92

    I actually like it! And just thinking that 32GB is more than enough for myself. I use an SD card as I only have a 16GB. I'll have to see what else is due for release before I decide.

    I'm liking the edge, I'll be hoping to get my hands on one of those.

    I only went with the s5 due to a well timed upgrade/s4 hitting the deck incident but this looks like it's a decent step forward.

    I actually thought I'd be moving from Samsung this year.
