Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

well RTE employees have signed up multiple accounts before to plug their shows and 'stars' across various sections of this site. thats the level they are at :)

but no, dave mcsavage is awful and i think its more the nature of his employment in the company that annoys boards users the most. ya know, spending of license money on an unfunny jerkweasel because he has good connections and stuff. and its especially annoying considering that this island has such a good pedigree of comedians and writers that someone like mcsavage is considered by people, and i say this cringingly, funny...

Oh I didn't realise he got the show because of his connections. I'm suprised he didn't think to have a TV show before 2009 then, considering his connections you'd think he would have availed of them before now-? How long is he around now?

I first seen him a good few years ago in some comedy club in dublin and again only a few weeks ago in the International Bar in Dublin- I've never seen him street perform but sounds like alot of people have had bad experiences, but I really enjoted the night in the clubs.

I work in the media and doubt his connections are what got him his first show after 10 plus years in comedy. But who knows maybe I'm wrong:confused:
    Doubt it tho:pac:

Saw the live show in vicar st. It was misleadingly titled "the savage eye live". One thing was very obvious, Mcsavage was head and shoulders above everyone else on the night, but strangely was shown up for not having much material. The supports were **** bar for a fews moments of light. Mcsavage himself was brilliant, but after the half way mark he resorted to the "international" and street routine inc getting aiden bishop up on stage to do an ancient routine i saw years ago in the international. Over all though he was good, but loses points for lack of preperation lack of material. I look forward to Savage eye II.

I honestly think the guy is a comedy genius. The Savage Eye was so spot on it was scary.

Obviously theres alot of people who disagree with his portrayal of Irish society but for me he consistantly hits the nail on the head and his observations are hilarious.

I was actually surprised RTE had the balls to take a risk on it and for the first time I have a bit of respect for them. I think the Katherine Lynch stuff is muck, but it appears that there has been some kind of revolution in RTE in terms of taking risks on new shows, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt but fair play to them for trying, its about time.

I see McSavage has been booked at the Helix for a night in the comedy festival.. How the Fuk is this guy getting gigs like this ??? Did they go and see his recent live act before booking him ???

there's a limited pool of comedians to pick from for festivals, so all the local heads will be getting a slot.

P.S. McSavage has been working for RTE for years as the warm up comedian on the Late Late (guess how he got that job?) so it's not like they picked him out of obscurity.

BTW the savage Eye was the complete extent of his material. His next series will be him slagging off spanish students and them looking at him blankly as they have no idea what he's saying. And when that routine is exhausted he'll start calling women lesbians for not stopping and watching his comedy.

100% agree.....ireland has a big disturbing dark side that most people won't admit to....hence the anger for him telling it like it is....its funny because its true

Each to there own opinion of course but a TV show is a lot different than a live show.

The reason I am so surprised he is still on the circuit is due to the first and last time I seen him in the International bar... Very few people laughed for his whole set and he got increasingly frustrated.. then towards the end of his set he started to pick on the only black person in the audience and made lewd and unfunny comments about being black and being a woman. At this stage people started to leave including myself. Not cause I was personally offended more for the fact it was unfunny and unintelligent comedy. He was not asked back to headline the second show that night.

I have said enough about this wannabe :-)

Its incredible how sensitive and politically correct the country is! I'm not a fan of this guy, however i would agree with him that a) Big brothers do tend to kick this **** out of their little brothers. its not child abuse its just human nature - i should know i had two older brothers :(.....and b) i would never ever trust a priest around my children - its to do with that whole huge paedophile ring in case ya were wondering.

Irish radio is so incredibly boring and all the hosts are politically correct zombies. Try listening to some radio in america, for example someone like howard stern or some of the bible freaks bashing homosexuality. Its called an alternative view, which we grown ups are supposed to be allowed to listen to and decide whether or not we like it.

P.s before the PC brigade come along, i am in now way homophobic and do not endorse bible freaks bashing homosexuality.

Its incredible how sensitive and politically correct the country is! HAHAHA Not sure were you live but I see and experience the opposite in the last 10years.
We had a transvestite bingo quiz show on during the day at one stage.

He is just a crap example of somebody trying to be controversial you hear him for 5 mins and ok he's vulgar he takes the piss out of people, I know loads of people in general life or in the pub who take the piss out of each other in a far funnier way than this guy :-)

In regards to American radio, we are saturated with American culture all we listen to is manufactured amaerican pop music, big budget souless American movies and eat American corperate take away food. Culteraly American has a lot to offer but majority of what we are force fed is dreadful.

    Happy Friday :D

Never really heard much of his stuff when he was in the streets, but I thought The Savage Eye was the best thing RTÉ have shown since Father Ted. He might be completely ****e at stand up and live gigs, but it was a long time before I laughed out loud at any of RTÉ's 'homegrown' programming.

Father Ted was originally aired on Channel 4*.

*I'm assuming you didn't know that, unless you think the Savage Eye is the best TV show of the last 15 years, which would be frightening tbh

He really isn't. He's a complete twat who thinks slagging off people makes him funny. the only good thing about "The Savage Eye" was that he probably thinks he doesn't have to shill himself at the top of Grafton Street any more, the alco gob****e.

Actually I did know that, and I was referring to tv shows they have shown, not made. That does seem scary now that I think of it.....I guess I should have specified it to shows that RTÉ have produced in some way. Most of their programming is absolute ****e anyway. Anything that does do well, slowly gets ruined once they realise they have a hit. I long for the good old days of Blizzard of Odd and the like.
