Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i applied in December and I hadn't heard anything up to lat month..i rang and was told that because my husband was self employed it had gone to an inspector..the inspector called to me on Monday last 21.05.12 and 1 weeks payment went into my account 28.05.12..i was told on the phone that a certain percentage have to go to the inspector..some people will get a visit and others won't

i know thats not much help but that was my situation with them..hope this is of some help:)

If the applicant or spouse/partner is self employed that application will always go to an inspector the first time they apply. Its the same for people who have income from rental properties, farming or employed by relatives.
They usually wouldn't be sent to an inspector again for a few years.

After that there is a certain percentage that are sent for other reasons.

I thought to quallfy for fis the least hours u can work is 19 so that would add up to 76 hours a month so how is that I am the same work 19 a week but my claim has been sent to social welfare inspector

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,920 ✭✭✭cee_jay

19 hours a week does not equal 76 hours a month.
    19 hours a week -> 19x52weeks = 988 (number of hours a year).
    Number of hours a month = 988/12 = 82.33.

76hrs per month is not enough. You must be multiplying 19hrs x 4weeks = 76. There are 4 weeks and 3 days in most months. you need to be working 82.33 hrs per month to qualify.

You must be working 82.33hrs per month to qualify . 76hrs is only a 4 week calculation

Its usually done within the first 2 payments unless there is a hold up with a another payment.FIS are probably waiting to hear back from a CWO/another DSP
    scheme.
If there is no other scheme you or your spouse are on ,I would ring them
    today.

I rang yesterday. One team is working on Feb, another on March. Hence the different dates. 10 - 12 weeks its taking to process claims.

Hi all, I received a letter refusing FIS, I received it last year and nothing has changed but they said that I am over by €10. I am going to appeal but I dont know what to say on letter. With levys and increases in everything we buy and my child is hopefully going to 3rd level, I am struggling as it is. Is it worth my while appealing when they have said I am over the limit.

oh wow thats the fastest fis renewal in history!! we waited 6 months for ours, only got it last week! we have 3 kids and we lived on basics for months, when i got the money i was nearly half afraid to spend it i waited so long!! well done you, families shouldnt have to wait so long its not fair, kids cant understand why they cant go on day trips or why you cant pay for stuff, its a joke.

Have they disregarded your eldest child and reduced your limit? Maybe if you can provide evidence they are in full time education it will bring you back within the limits.

It depends on your income from work and one parent family payments and how many dependents you have.No way of knowing if you will receive FIS on the info you have given us.

Rang today , said they're working on the 13th Feb, told me mine (9thFeb) would be another two weeks , rang again an hour later was told there is a back log from the 24th Feb, so I'll be waiting another three weeks , wound up. I could go on an all out rant ... but I won't !

I would imagine the phones are quite busy and maybe we should not be ringing them twice a day, Maybe you should call them again in a few days . The 24th Feb is on a Friday and the 13th Feb is on a Monday, the claims start on a thursday

I have only 1 child so they havent disregarded them as they would have said in letter, anyway I appealed the decision but Im not hopeful of a positive outcome. I thought I would get a little more help on this page but I suppose everyone have their own problems.
    Thanks u for replying anyway.
