Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Perhaps, I was naive to think 11/14 working days as of september 17 applies. Looking forward to next journey, still appreciative of them tho.

First time passport takes longer and is excluded from the Passport Express "guarantee" turn around time. First time passports take 15+ working days.

    HiGuys,

I am sure this has been discussed a lot but this is a very big thread.

I went looking for my passport to update by esta for america to find it wasnt in its normal place. Tore the place to shreds and still couldnt find it.

I went to the passport office in london and I got my application and everything needed. The man there was fine and said that it takes 6 weeks but can be done quicker if I have copy and proof of travel in my app.

. Had a lot of trouble getting the police to sign anything so in the end with to a solicitor who signed everything but didnt have a stamp (not sure if i should be worried) i have no other ID so i got him to sign all the photos.

I got everything together, my old longform birth cert, a photocpy of my old passport (wont make a difference but anything can help)etc....also my register post return evelope. I wrote a nice polite letter and asked that if any issues with the application occur to call or email me and I will be available to amend at short notice. I went to the passport office after work and gave it to the receptionist of the building to hand deliver ( its got basically my only proof and existing left so...was worried)

It took over a week for it to be registered and its still still as registed and my issue date tomorrow 16th. Here's the thing though....I travel on the 30th to America. I have called...but we know how hard it is to get in touch with them by phone. I emailed and got a standard mail back saying it can take 6 weeks...but my reply was polite and stated I travel on the 30th and its a very important trip.

I emailed them again yesterday (which is about a week and half after my last mail) and no reply. I am two weeks from my trip and bricking it. I cant afford to miss this trip. I know my own sillyness has ended up with my passport going missing but I am stressed out of my mind with this.

Has anyone ever not gotten their passport when travel documents are attached?I also see that you need to get an esta about two weeks before leaving and I am worried I wont have mine in time.

Do you think if I popped to the passport office after work I would get a clear answer?

Any words or advice would be great.

When you lodged your application did you tell them you would be travelling? Did you provide a copy of your tickets/flight booking? If not you could email them your flight details and ask them to get your passport issued prior to your flight.

Wouldn't worry about the ESTA - you can do that up to 72 hours prior to flying.

    Hi Fx,
Ya, I put a quick letter in the application saying that my print out from my expedia booking was attached and that I left on the 30th of October. I was really just worried about if they will have it done in time and also if there are any errors with the application taht its not sent back at the last minute.

Booked the on line appointment the night before for the next day at 11am. Went in and handed in the application and called back at 4pm that day for the new passport.

    Excellent.

It wasn't for a bereavement or illness was it?

I have an appointment to get my passport renewed tomorrow. I'm travelling on the 24th . Should i expect to receive my passport later that day or will it be sent to me? Also, do you have to pay the extra 55 euro charge that day or can you pay it later?

    Thanks.

Got my passport today. Just a quick question on behalf of a colleague, she's a naturalised citizen and just lost her passport,it says online that she has to submit all documentation like its a first time application, since she's of indian origin, she has forfeited her country of birth passport since becoming irish,so she can't submit the passport then. Any experience with this any1?

Need some advice folks..... Group going on a stag Friday week to Edinburgh. Younger brother left it as late as possible to apply for passport and needless to say it was rejected Monday. To get all outstanding docs together and get them sent off wouldn't leave enough time for processing so he is in bother. We tried calling the passport office and also emailed them but no response. On the off chance that we actually speak to someone, do you think they will allow him to travel to Dublin and complete the application in person? Any ideas what we would do here?

Your best bet is to call into your nearest passport office and speak to the person at reception.

If all else fails, Irish citizens travelling to the UK with any airline except Ryanair don't need a passport.

Worst case scenario, your brother could get a ferry.

Thanks for the advice. Nearest passport office is Dublin, we are in Mayo so we would like some assurance that we will have have some success before travelling. It's a Ryanair flight unfortunately so Passport only. We are looking into ferries and also Aer Lingus as they will take a card drivers icense from I'm told.

So, issue date has arrive an no movement. Any advice where to go from here?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 infini001

Better to call them up,most of the time, they do not update the site in real time.It might just show approved by afternoon and posted later that day and sometimes it will just show that your new passport has been posted. If you call and spend 30min. b4 getting thru, they will push it to a checker, that was what I did.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 brayshizzle

Every time I call them I never get through to anyone sadly :(

I emailed them yesterday but no response. I know its two weeks away until I leave but I am just worried incase there were issues with the application or if I am needed to do anything more.

    :-/

She should be grand, so. She'd have to provide all the other docs to establish her identity again, obviously (naturalisation cert, proof of name, proof of address, birth cert, marriage cert (if applicable), and whatever photo ID she can provide)

So, after about 35 minutes holding I got through to someone. Deirdre was really reassuring letting me know it would be done. She took my details and the application number and said a note had to be put on the system to get it sorted quickly. Remains to be seen if this is true or just a throw off but she seemed quite legit. Fingers, legs, arms and bollocks crossed

Once you have spoken with someone there will be a note on that application so barring no issue with checking phase it should be fine

My issue date was today but nothing has been updated.

    Sent it off on 26/9.

Will have to check tomorrow and see do they update their website.

Changed to being checked this morning on the 5th day after this 10 day turnaround!

Delighted that something is finally happening!

Travel company needs it for online checking or something () so I won't have it for long before it's gone again!

I would suggest not giving it to anyone! They can take a copy if they need.

That's what I said but apparently they need the original.

They promise to keep it very safe and all that but I still feel weary.

They don't need the original unless you're applying for a visa which I don't think you are?

Tell them you need it to travel and give them a copy.

    A little worried here.

Tracking online has moved to 'being checked' as of today it seems (are they open on a Sunday?). Does anyone know the turnaround time from this stage?

"Application No. XXXXX. Received on 08/10/2014 and is being checked."

It has issue date of 21/10/14 though - is this the date they expect to send it?

I'm travelling early hours of Friday night/Saturday morning, and I'm aware it could take a day or two by post as we're in the north.

Should I ring in the morning? I filled out the online query thing during the week and they emailed to say they've noted my travel date on the application (but didn't mention time frames or if I should expect to get it on time or anything).

Sorry for the annoying (and probably often repeated) query.

Yeah it's a holiday to Germany and I'm an Irish citizen so no Visa needed.

I emailed them asking and will update how I get on.

    Thanks Fred!

No one answering this number, just a recorded message. Does anyone have a number for them that gets answered ?

    TIA

Edit: apologies, quoted wrong post, the number was 01 6711633

Maybe I'll finally get it on Wednesday!:pac:

Sorry for spamming up the thread so much lately.

My passport was finally marked as posted today so I'd expect it tomorrow.

I just have a question in regards to delivery, is a signature required or will they just pop it through the letter box like the normal post and what time should I expect it?

I ask because no one will be home tomorrow in the morning so I'm wondering if I should take the day off so hat I can be there for delivery.

    Any opinions?

    Cheers

London applications take 6 - 8 weeks. Even though you submitted proof of travel, the checker might not get to see it until this week or next.

Did you contact that email address I sent you?

    Finally got it today!

Didn't have to sign but the post man said he couldn't (?) Leave it through the letterbox.

Came a while ago while the usual post comes at about 8:20am.

So in total, sent away on 25/9, received 22/10

    nightmare.

so, i called up on wednesday as the site had not been updated. i had to drag the information out of them that there was something wrong. my application was rejected. this was due to not having another form of id....the passport was my only form as i dont drive and never been to uni.
i was told before that if i get all the photos signed i should be fine. obviously not.

i went straight to the passport office who were able to get me the letter i was supposed to be sent and the stuff i had to get signed again. it was basically the same as i had done with the photos...jsut on their letterhead (dont see the point)
so back to the passport office thursday, handed in the forms that were needed. i was assured by the women at the office it would be sent to kim ... who apparently is very gooda t getting these things done in time. i was given a date of the 28th or 29th but to email on Monday to follow up.

SO, all cutting it fine. What I dont know is why oh why ....on several occassions was the fact i had no ID made aware to me but the application wasnt rejected until wednesday.

Anyway, just want my passport or my partner will be very unhappy with the lack of honeymoon activities.

anyone know if the website is updated in real time or just twice a day?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 brayshizzle

so it was due to arrive today or tomorrow at the latest.

called up and was told someone would call me back.
    no one has.
emailed the office and was told that it wont arrive until thursday at 12. which is the time i fly out. they have known this for nearly a month.

i have offered for a dhl courier to collect it and have to me by noon tomorrow but no one is reply to my emails.

i have been promised and told things and nothing is happening and getting very little information and at this rate will not be able to get my flight.

they havent even printed it according to the last email i got.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 infini001

What a nightmare! you should've send them proof of your travel and opt to collect it in person rather than posting it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 brayshizzle

    Hi infini,
I live in london, and sent proof of travel with my application
they have approved it now and it should be here by miday thursday, had to spend a fortune to get a later flight with layover so out of pocket another 300.

i dont mind, just want my passport so i dont let everyone down.

Waoh! that's out of juridiction really, You've really tried, hopefully, you get it on time so you don't let people down as you've said. On the plus side, you wouldn't have to bother with passport now for 10 more yrs.
