Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

raging I never came across him earlier - i've been as far as Manchester for 3 full sessions, that's no fun getting the red-eye, being tattoo'd for hours then a dash for the flight home the same evening ....I would'nt mind, Robert is a far superior artist to the guy in Manchester and it's only an hour's drive down the road !!! (mind you, I got a ticket in the library on my last visit.. :( )

Hi everyone. Does anyone have an opinion on Living Art in Limerick? I want a small design done near my wrist and my friend has recommended them. Heard good things about Allstar and Bullmans too though. I'd love some advice. Thanks.

    Hi everyone!

Looking to get my knees tatted, but want some sick roses to go on them.

I already have a good few tats and am looking for someone who can do some really nice neo tradish or traditional rose tats. I'm sick of looking for artists myself and am hoping someone knows of an artist who is as good as Kirk Jones etc.
    all the best

Got my first tattoo yesterday ... there's a photo in the ISYM thread, to be honest I guess I've no idea if it's good quality or not, but I love love love it!

Eimear Kearney did it ... I'd highly recommend her for tattoo virgins like myself! I only had a very vague idea of what I wanted, but she was really confident about transferring my wishy-washy description into a lovely design, I felt totally safe in her hands!

She told me afterwards that she has a reputation for having a very gentle touch, that people often fall asleep while she's tattooing them. I can see how, I very nearly did a few times! The pain was nowhere near as bad as I expected. It took over three hours, it only started getting painful in the last half hour, I guess because the whole area was tender at that stage. But still definitely bearable pain!

Don't have any experience with Living Art tbh but you wont go wrong going to All Star, both Ross and Paul are excellent artists

Can anyone tell me the best tattoo artists in Europe? I have read most of this thread and recommendations seem to be Irish based. I'm prepared to sit on a waiting list, I'm prepared to travel and im prepared to save ever euro i can and pay for the right artist. Basically I'm looking for the best. Anyone got any first hand experience ?

I'm thinking of getting a pet portrait tattoo, most likely b&w. I've had a look around and I think I might go with Pawel in Skin City. What do ye reckon?

I reckon you'd probably need to post some pics/links of the style you're going for to get suggestions! I'm sure there are tonnes of tattoo artists in Europe who are "best" at their particular style.

Pawel is brilliant. Denise in Snakebite has been doing some great animal portraits the last few years too.

Hi guys. Im looking to get my 2nd tattoo and don't want to have to travel to the city. I'm near Balbriggan and ideally don't want to travel further than swords. Have my own drawings for what I'd like done. Any recommendations on experienced\established tattooists in the area??

    Thanks

Any reason you don't want to travel? It's going to be on you for ever, a train journey into Dublin isn't going to break the bank or take that much time.

Of course I'll go into Dublin, but if there's a good spot closer to home which people recommend that'd be even better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,428 ✭✭✭joey100

What sort of style tattoo you looking for? Different artists would specialise in different style, the more information you can give about the design the better really.

You won't be disappointed. He did my bio-mech heart tattoo on my chest, and it still looks amazing *counts* some 7 years later! ( has it really been that long?)

Anyone any tips on contacting Artists abroad?

I've been trying to contact an artist in Warsaw who I would love to design my first piece.

Sent a couple of emails first one just asking if he was available in a certain month but then I read to include as much detail as possible on the tattoo idea so I did. (perhaps should've included sizing)

I ended up emailing a friend of his who's studio he was working as a guest artist who told me he would write to me the next day.

No response. its been over a month since I've tried to get in contact. I understand artists are extremely busy and probably get a ton of requests but is it usually a game of waiting to hear back from in demand artists?

Unfortunately, yep. I've had artists reply 2-3 months after I've sent emails. I think if they really like the piece, they're more likely to respond.

I received the below auto reply from an artist which might give you an idea of what some artists expect in your email to them:
I'll try to reply to all tattoo inquiries, but it may takes me several days/weeks. Make sure you gave me enough details concerning your project (idea, size, location on the body, city you want to book for, budget, etc). If your message does not include any of these, there's a slight possibility that i won't reply. I also give priority to project I like the most and to people who wants to do some flash from my book. Be patient, it may take me a while since I travel a lot but I will get back to you.

    Hey all,

Looking for recommendations for tattooists in Dublin, I have a design for a tattoo on my forearm but I have no idea what shop to use.
Do I need to go to a shop to see if they can do they tattoo for me or is there any sites I can upload a picture to and see if they can do it ?

Go to a shop.See the recommended artists thread.

Sometimes a geometric tattoo that looks great on a flat piece of paper will look **** when its on a non flat body part with muscles, fat etc.

I can highly recommend Mark Anthony, he's currently in Reinkarnated and will change to Spilled Ink by the end of the month. I got lots of geometric work by him, he's a very good black- and dotwork artist.

Hi just looking for an update on recommendations for Wildcat in Stephens Green. I want to get a small tattoo, symbol, so there's no style as such.

I'm looking for a place where they are nice and friendly to the newbies :) I can see the place has been widely recommended but nothing up to date on the artists that are there now, so just curious would people still recommend the place?

Was also looking at Snakebite but I'm a bit time poor so Wildcat is the handier option at the moment.

Malahide bodyart studio might be another option for me. I see someone was happy going there recently, any other opinions on the place?

    Thanks

Hi, I got a tribal tattoo in Cork a few years back, have never really loved it tbh, it is quite big on my upper arm, I am looking to get a cover up with a tribal Polynesian style, maybe 1/2 sleeve if required to loose the style of the plain tribal piece.
Wondering where is the best place in Cork to go for Polynesian style tattoos and would they have a problem doing the cover up, over someone else's work.

    hi folks,
have ye any recommendations for someone in Dublin who does armour pieces?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Geometric is a pretty broad term - are you looking for basic fine line stuff like triangle/diamond patterns, or are you looking for sacred shapes like mandalas and dot work?

I'm very impressed with Wagner's in Dublin Ink's latest stuff, especially his dot work. If you're into that sort of stuff he's defo worth checking out.

Modern Primitives specialize in it also but I'm not overly mad on their style, but they're still learning and getting better etc.

Someone posted an absolutely wicked dotwork mandala by Rob in Wildcat in the pic thread. Really tidy.

If you're looking for that fine line/abstract geometric kinda style (think Dr. Woo etc) to be honest I don't think there's anyone in Ireland good enough to do that right now (in my opinion).

It's mainly dot work, circles and fine lines. Haven't found anyone that's confident enough to give it a go yet !
