Oh back to work Monday x

Can't believe Rachel is 2weeks old today.

Good luck with the bcg x x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

Well the bcg went fine, he didn't really cry just a little whimper but there was a nurse and a doctor and nurse told me to sit down and she took him over and held him which was good but once the actual injection was finished there wasn't a peep out of him, think he was more pissed off cos he was woken up :) so please god he will be ok now.
How is everyone today? It has turned into beautiful day here x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

D's appointment was very early, its usually not til closer to the 6 week mark. They would not give me calpol in chemist for him just to have for later incase he gets Temp until I check with doctor. So sent oh to different chemist n if he does get temp or anything later will ring doctor on call.
ye it is lovely to be out aNd about, even tho you get tired after it, You feel great!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Oh I'm exhausted after being out but it just feels great getting out,

Pushki sorry to hear c had a bad night again last night, hope it sorts itself out soon x

  • Registered Users Posts: 329 ✭✭0ctober

Pushkii I hear ya, H was the same last night nothing would settle her. Had an awful day today too, she was very unsettled and I'm feeling a bit unwell myself. I'm on 2 antibiotics at the mo and I think they're just making me feel a bit bleugh. I hope she sleeps tonight cos we've to be up early for a funeral. We could miss it if we had to but I'd like to go and pay my respects.
I've noticed in the last few days that H gets really distressed and upset just before she has a bowel motion. She didnt used to do this before. Anyone elses baby do this? There isnt much I seem to be able to do to help her other than comfort her til it passes. Any tips?

I know I always sound like one that's obsessed when I find something that works but have you tried giving some water October?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

I just gave r some water she just drank an oz. But I could see the relief in her face straight away x

The reason I started it first was because D wasn't doing regular enough dirty nappies, works a treat. And also the wind.
How is she today after the road trip yest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Yeah it used to lake ages to get her wind up and was more or less instant after the water,

She seems grand after the road trip anyway thank god haha x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

Ah good. Its good she doesn't mind travelling x
I am here making a lovely steak dinner for oh's birthday seen as we had to postpone our dinner out til next week. Bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge :):)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Oh enjoy it gee g enjoy every drop of it :-)

Happy birthday Mr gee g :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 329 ✭✭0ctober

I hadn't given her water before, must give it a try. How much do you give and how often?

Ooo that sounds nice GeeG! I've started to build up a bit of a store of expressed milk so once I'm finished the antibiotics I'm going to treat myself to a nice glass of bubbly! :-) I'm counting down the days haha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

I put 3oz into the bottle and left it cool down, she only drank an oz but she got her wind up straight away and had a dirty nappy after it too, will bring another one up to bed tonigt too to see again x

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭pushkii

id say the water should help October. I really must start expressing milk, i keep worring that if i do express C will be hungry. Enjoy the chambers gee g you deserve every last stop of it :-Di had a small nap this afternoon feel great after it :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

Aw girls, we had a beautiful dinner and I had a few glasses of bubbly and just chilling watching TV now. Its nice to just sit down and talk about random **** while D was asleep, rather than flying around doing bottles or hanging up clothes etc as soon as he comes in. I did enjoy every drop I have to say, well worth the wait :):)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Ah gee g sounds like ye had a wonderful night that's great, important to lake time out too x

Didn't sleep well at all but just gone down after big bottle and drop of calpol so finGers crossed he's back to himself after good sleep x

  • Registered Users Posts: 170 ✭✭kinioiri

My little dotie has been unsettled the past few days too. There must be something in the air with the August babies :)

The antibiotics seem to be doing the trick and all I can say is God Bless whoever invented diphene! (again) F seems to be fussing when I feed her from the sore boob, it's like its too slow for her or something. I have to persist because I need to empty it :/ I have decided I am going to put her on bottles when this clears up.

My mil is driving me crazy. I was having a little cry, well an all out breakdown the other day and who appers looking in the window :0 Now I have postnatal depression according to her. I'm sure she has half the town told. I am getting 4-5 phone calls from her every day since. I am going to crack lol. I actually have to laugh because I can see straight through her, she would love if I was depressed. I can safely say I am not thankfully. I was in agony and so tired, we all need a cry or a wail from time to time.

G Gee your night sounds fab, going to treat myself to a glass of Rose when I stop the breastfeeding. Might push the boat out and have the bottle. Think I deserve it!

    Enjoy the weekend everyone. x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Ah gee g the poor little thing hope he is ok today x

Kin I have to laugh, all our mil seem lo be the same :-) thank god mine wasn't near Me yesterday I had a bad day, r was very unsettled and wouldn't sleep and I was exhausted and just needed k good cry I'm fine today though x

GeeG glad everything is ok with D now, that must have been scary :-(

Well. I have had an eventful morning. God bless tesco is all I'll say! We were at the funeral and I decided to come back to the car with H as it was a 20 min walk to the graveyard for the burial and I didnt think she would last without a feed as she was due one. Right on que as we get back to the car she wakes for her feed. Grand I said, I'll sit in the back seat and feed her. Just about to get the boob out when theres an explosion in her nappy! I thought it was fine til I started feeling wet all up her back, she had pooed all over us both!! I couldnt change her on the back seat as the car seat was on one side and then a car was parked close on the other side so I couldnt open the door wide enough to lay her on the seat and stand at the door and change her.
Decided to run up to tesco up the road on the off chance they had baby changing facilities which they did thank the lord!!! I was lucky I had a spare set of clothes for H in the changing bag! Most of the ooo missed me as I had a muslin cloth under her luckily. Got her changed anyway which she roared through as she was hungry, back to the car where I got her fed. The feed was just over when low and behold the exact same feckin thing happened AGAIN!!!!!! Back to tesco with a poopy baby but no change of clothes this time so I had to queue up and buy some all the while she screamed and screamed.... I swear pampers are getting a very strongly worded letter from me! Jeez I need a glass of wine...no screw that I need the whole feckin bottle!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Oh October I would not know what to do if that happened I would of prob just went home you poor thing x x

I know I probably would have betsie but it was about an hour away from home! Laughing about it now but I must have looked like a mad woman at the time! I swear its the pampers I just find em awful, went mad at oh when he got back cos he had bought em instead of the tesco ones ha. Ah well at least I know in future to have at least 2 changes of clothes in the bag!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

And a change for yourself too haha :-) I must try the Tesco nappies they good yeah, I got presents of a load of Pampers so using them up, they are **** though x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

That is gas october.... gave me a bit of a giggle I have to say :):)
Well D seems to be back to himself now, little bit whiney but ok thank god. Me aNd oh are walking round like zombies here!
Take my advice girls and get a bottle of calpol when ye are going for bcgs, yer little one's will be older than D was getting his. That's the only reason we had to go in to doctor on call as they wouldn't tell me over phoNe if he could take it, was only in and out in like ten mins and doctor said
"absolutely give him calpol!sure what are you going to do. Leave him until his temp gets so high he convulses!" So the little syringe from eumom bag is very handy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

I must get a bottle of calpol so just to have no harm in it I suppose x what age can you start giving it to them at

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

Its meant Tobe two months Betsie but the doctor last night said its fine. Now the dose I gave was only 1.25mls which is tiny but it did the job. But sure check with gp.xx
    x factor tonight :) wahoo! Such a sad life i lead :)
Think I'm going to have to buy a few more babygro's, he seems to be growing into them so quickly!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Well as long as it done the job that's all that matters :-)

I can't wait for x factor tonigt either haha, getting a take away and I might even have a glass of wine with it :-)

Ah ya should yeah, treat yourself. Take advantage while your oh is off work and can do a feed for you tonight :) has your little lady settled on the bottles?

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭pushkii

Oh Oct sounds like you deserve a glass of wine after that ordeal!! pampers need a good kick up the ass !
Kinori. your tormented by the mil and fair play to you to for keeping up the bf with the mastitis and all , hope you feel better soon :-)
gee g i really have to go shopping for baby gros soon or else C will be living in her nappies!!
C had another bad night last night didn't settle until 6am, she was overtime again although we didn't get up til 4pm today :-)

Are any of ye using soothers? i gave her one for a while last night as she just seemed to want to be on the book for comfort

Ah i cant wait for the x factor too!! im feeling a bit sorry for myself as im missing a birthday and a get together tonight so im going to treat myself to pizza and express some milk, oh the joys!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

Ah pushki you must be wreaked are you, can't be easy on your own x relax now and enjoy your pizza and the x factor,

Just finished a take away and a big mug of tea now easy please me haha, I'm so tired though I would nearly go to bed haha x

Yeah Rachel has settled on the bottles I had to get slower tits for them and she is better since, I'm a bit sad though I was giving her the 1st feed and the last feed of the day myself but there is just not enough milk there for her :-( I used to enjoy the cuddles but as long as she is getting what she needs that's all that matters x

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭pushkii

Ya betsie im kinda finding it tough now all the excitement is gone and its just me and C, i really hope she settles tonight.
Fair play to you for keeping the breastfeeding up so long you gave her a great start.
Cant believe C is a month old today x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

Yes pushkii D has had a soother since day one. Its not that he really even sucks it when he's asleep but it is just a comfort thing. Just sitting down to watch x factor now, gotta love sky plus!!:)
So are you finished feeding her yourself altogether now betsie or do you give it when you have it or how does it work? :) sorry, bit clueless when it comes to bf x

no i stopped since yesterday, just not enough there for her to get a good feed, i had to give her a bottle more or less straight after feeding so not worth it :(

pushki i cant believe c is a month old where has the time gone at all, r was 2 weeks yesterday, i cant remember what it is like not having her here though, was saying it to oh today that it seems much longer then 2 weeks, tbh im not looking forward to him going back to work on monday, i have gotten used to him being here to help me, but sure have to get back to normal at some stage x

  • Registered Users Posts: 329 ✭✭0ctober

Haha yeah I should def pack a change of clothes for myself betsie!

We tried the soother but H just wasn't interested and kept spitting it out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gee_G

I know it's probably upsetting for you finishing betsie but on the bright Side she might get into a better sleep routine for you if she Takes a good bottle each feed x x more sleep for her, more sleep for mammy :):)
Imagine she is a month already pushkii the pet. Agree about it feeling like it was never any different. :) pushki do you live with your parents? I know, it is hard when things calm down and back to normal x
I went back to sTart of this thread one of the days and read the first few pages of it, it really seems like a lifetime ago :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

    Yeah lets hope so anyway,
It is upsetting but I prefer her to get a good feed instead

I would love to be able to print off this thread and keep it, it does seem like a long time ago that it was started though x

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭pushkii

I know i really don't know what i did with my time before. ya gee g i live with them so im lucky. that's funny October C doesn't really like it either, i really hope she settles tonight she seems to know when i put her down and wakes straight away. • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Betsie_xr3i

  • Registered Users Posts: 329 ✭✭0ctober

Pushkii the help at home is great isnt it, although I try not to avail of it too often cos I feel guilty like I'm imposing or something, even though they've made it clear they're delighted to help. When I'm showing off H people always make comments along the lines of oh isnt it well for you living at home with everyone to look after the baby and wait on you hand and foot etc. Em no thats not how it is! I do all the looking after H, I think my mam has changed her nappy twice! And I try to do as much as I can around the house once H is down. I know most people don't mean the comments to be malicious but they make me feel awful sometimes :-( maybe I'm just being hormonal and oversensitive!

Anyways, everyone having a nice weekend? Apart from our little incident with pampers yesterday we're doing well. We're going for dinner this evening in the pub where I work to show H off, looking forward to it and to seeing everyone :-)
