Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So, me and a few friends are trying to see if The Woolshed in Dublin City will stay open to show the TI4 finals in July. I think it could be great fun if we could get this going. They recently showed a League of Legends tournament in there, so it's not totally out of the question, as well.

    Would many people be interested?

We'd need to get some decent numbers going if Woolshed are to agree to show it.

I'll probably head into Fibbers for a while as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 Antiundead

Ha I was actually looking to sort one in the woolshed, had 6 friends so far interested, but I guess if it's in Fibbers that works too. I just hope we don't get kicked out too early... Final won't be till 4am or something crazy probably :(

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,104 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

The finals coverage starts at 5PM, it would hardly be on that long, the pubstomp iis 4pm -1am should be enough!

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

I took Monday and Tuesday off indeed. I'm hosting Saturday and Sunday and Monday but would much rather be out in the pubstomp for the grand finals, so I may pop along for that instead(and drag along the losers going to my place) :P

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,094 ✭✭✭BMMachine

Monday is no good to me for the pubstomp :( I have a birthday party on saturday night so I plan on staying for the polite amount of time before pretending that Im not leaving to watch video games :p

Sounds like a plan, 2 day pre-drinking in yours first :D
Be good to get everybody in fibbers and make it a big yearly thing for the finals day.

Actually the hours arent so bad, starts in the afternoon on monday but may take it off anyway due to going wild at yours :p
I'm gonna try and make some dota cookies, wish me luck.

ohh that time of year again, TI3 was my first TI Experience. besides the ingame drama, i can only recall the severe lack of sleep I had in that period as i wanted to see it all.

im much better prepared this time.
ive been slowly reducing the amount of sleep im getting, so that i'll be functional at 3 hours :).

you know your in trouble when you wake up late for work and think "Crap, i missed the creep block."

as for the pub stomp, im still 50%/50%. it would be great to meet up with some of ye guys, talk dota and all that, on the otherhand i'll have all the creature comforts of home (important to an old fogie like me :P).

It's still annoying that they haven't got more specific times for the games. Sure we have the dates and all but I'll be well annoyed if Sundays games run into 4/5am in the morning again. I know the grand final won't suffer from that issue as its just the one game on Monday but the rest of the days will surely annoy me. You would think with such a huge prizepool and huge audience they'd make a bit more effort by at least speculating times.

Anyway boys 7pm tonight the wildcard phase starts :)

I don't know how MVP let Liquid get away with 2 Lycans but whatever...

Big games today. I fancy DK VG and EG all to show the other teams up

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,644 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

IG will have a strong day, DK too, not sure about VG at all, EG will be around middle of the pack. Alliance likely will have a resurgence.

insanity tbh. very poor drafting both games.

S4 won the all important 1v1 title which everyone was obviously super trying hard for as 1v1 DotA means so much thats why when people ask you for 1v1's in a game you always have to accept as its a true measure of skill :p
tbh tho, glad to see him win it. not a guy id have pegged for it

Well a good few surprises so far, except for c9, they could draft 5 potatoes and still win

this is great lads (and ladettes). few pints watching the world cup and come home to a flood of the best dota. boss is gonna kill me :p

Im going "oooohh EG vs Fnatic draft? oh my, best watch this."

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Great games so far. Na'vi(both) and Liquid have surprised me so far, as well as Alliance. They looked stronger going in but they're pretty much nowhere.

Safe to say Arrow won't be going anywhere, I've watch 2.5 of their games and they are poor as hell.

    Team|Score
    Cloud9|4-1
    Invictus Gaming|3-1
    Natus Vincere EU|3-1
    Natus Vincere US|3-1
    Team Liquid |3-1
    Vici Gaming|3-1
    Evil Geniuses|3-2
    Fnatic|3-2
    Newbee|3-2
    Titan|2-2
    Team DK|2-3
    Team Empire|1-3
    mousesports|1-3
    The Alliance|1-4
    LGD Gaming|1-4
    Arrow Gaming|0-5

Aye, lots of good dota to watch indeed !

For the B teams that came through the qualifiers like NAR'Vi and Liquid, I think playing against strong teams like they did on the first day was really to their advantage. Coming out of a long stretch of boot camping the 'bigger' teams like DK and EG were caught off guard as its difficult to predict what they were practicing. I fully expect a big turn around today for the A teams to be honest, but some upsets would be interesting ! Lets be honest, I only want the teams I LIKE to make the main playoffs :D:D

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

I don't think Void will be picked up today. 31% winrate over the last 2 days. Not many teams playing to his strengths.

    Also, Skyrath ftw!

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,094 ✭✭✭BMMachine

a surprising lack of batrider too from what I've seen. sky's movement speed and recent buffs have made him a really strong hero. Razor also making waves. just goes to show that strats are kept for the big ones :p

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Razor has been drafted for the last month or so quite often. Its the Skyrath thats pretty much popped up out of nowhere (last few weeks maybe).

yeah we didnt see that much of him at the summit alright. with razor though its just his value which has shot up. he has been used but not nearly as much as here. his stronger lane presence then that of batrider since the nerfs would be one reason and this carry-centric mid role that seems to be a thing. speaking of which, what about naga? I didnt see much of yesterday but in the games I did see she wasnt picked or banned at all

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Naga was played a couple of times. She was countered with hard pushers so by the time she came online the games were almost over already.

    good!
Didn't see any Na'Vi games. not too surprising to see them go 3-1. I think they are a team that adapts on site very well and with some of the results that have been happening id say they are in their element. how were they drafting? any puppey craziness?

Hmm, I seem to be clueless.

Saying that, I think VG have a really tough schedule today.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

I think the tournament has just shown that there's no real leaders so far and that nearly everyone has a shot at winning this. Arrow could have won 2 more games on top of the 2 they won yesterday but threw them hard. That would have put them right up there.

Empire back from the brink now but the LGD win just now has effectively ruled them out of the next phase. Alliance NEED to beat Na'vi now or they are eliminated.
