Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What if an application is being processed and ya get an offer abroad but it's not in Canada? Unlikely but could happen...ya never know! If ya accept it and move abroad does it affect your Canadian visa application? Would the same apply if you already have the visa?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭Kaizersoze81

Submitted cic application 10pm yesterday, POE 11pm today. They're flying through the cic applications.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭goingitalone

POE arrived. It states valid until 26/3/2015 though. It should be 2016 !! I'm currently in canada on the 1 year iec which applied for in 2012. Arrives in May 2013 and current one expires may 2014. Why have they only issued it for 1 year ?

thats the poe letter date not the visa . you a have a year to use the poe to activate the visa

It really is the luck of the draw. I was waiting over a week for the CAL

At http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/ireland-irlande/experience_canada_experience/application_guide-guide_demande.aspx it says "The IEC Conditional Acceptance Letter will direct you to create a MyCIC account to begin your application for a work permit" but my CAL doesnt say anything about MyCIC? Is that the same with everyone and you just go ahead anyway to MyCIC?

Did you have an answer for the part of the questionnaire that asked "What is your province of destination" cos I've no idea yet where I will go?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 75 ✭✭parabol

Submitted all my stuff on Monday night about 8pm.

As for the "province of destination", I left this blank. It's only there for if you have a job lined up. It doesn't have a *

a question for anyone who can help. currently in canada on 1 year iec which expires may 10. Changing status to visitor for a week weeks in may and then flying home towards end of may, returning to Canada early June to activate new 2 year IEC. Question is, do I need to have a return flight booked for when entering canada and activating the new IEC? Surely you cant have a flight booked for 2 years in advance?

As long as you have the ability (ie enough money) to buy a return flight you're fine.

Hey, so I've been reading/hearing that some have filled out the form IMM5707 while others have filled out the IMM5645. How do you know which one it is you fill out?? In MyCIC they ask for IMM5707. I am sorry for asking this, I know I am the fifth millionth person to ask this but I cannot find the thread I was on earlier.

Does anybody have answers for these two:

1/ At http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/ireland-irlande/experience_canada_experience/application_guide-guide_demande.aspx it says "The IEC Conditional Acceptance Letter will direct you to create a MyCIC account to begin your application for a work permit" but my CAL doesnt say anything about MyCIC? Is that the same with everyone or should the CAL have said something about MyCIC...or do you just go ahead anyway to MyCIC?

2/ Do I get a GCKey by answering the http://www.cic.gc.ca questionnaire for finding out if you are eligible to apply for a work permit (after answering No to "You have used our online questionnaire to find out you are eligible to apply")?

Anybody else have any issues uploading PDF files.

My files are clearly .pdf files but I keep getting an error saying they are in the wrong format. This is the error:

Validation error: You have not completed the mandatory fields or you have not completed them correctly. Please make corrections where indicated.
    • Error Description: You have specified an incorrect file format for your attachment. Retry with another format. The following file formats are allowed: DOC; JPG; PDF; PNG; and TIFF.
My file is definitely PDF too.

For the garda cert do i get the application form from the internet or do i have to go to the station.

  • Registered Users Posts: 35 Karlos_Macca

    Also, for the IMM1285E form....

What does it mean by "Country where applying"?

Obviously im applying being an Irish citizen, but I'm based through work in Australia right now. So does it mean, where I am applying from, or through what country?

Leave it at 300dpi, the dimensions should be: 420x540 MIN and file size no more than 240kb, no less than 60kb.

The dimensions they give are minimum dimensions. They don't give maximum. As long as it meets the minimum it'll be fine. I was stressing about the photo too but it seems they're not too strict on it.

Anyone having problems trying to open IMM1295. It's telling me I need a later version of the PDF viewer. I have upgraded with the link they gave, have reset laptop but still no luck. Also same on my sisters laptop....I wanna get started on this!

Right click save/save link as and make sure it's saved locally. I noticed this behavior when my browser was trying to open it, instead of my default PDF reader.

I did this.. got it in just over a week

How do I apply for a Police Certificate?
Applicants for Police Certificates for these purposes should make an application in writing to the Superintendent in charge of the district wherein they reside, or formerly resided, in the Republic of Ireland. Please go to our Station Directory to find out who your District Superintendent is.

Your application in writing should include the following:

Your full name as on your birth certificate including your maiden name if applicable
Your date and place of birth (or a copy of your birth certificate)
    Your current address
All addresses at which you have lived at in Ireland and when you lived there
The place and purpose for which you require the Certificate

You should also include with your application:

A copy of your passport, driving license or similar for identification purposes
    A stamped, self addressed envelope

Your application will take approximately three weeks to process.

its really not. a "gckey" in reality is just a username and password.

Has anyone on here lived in Australia and had to go through the process of applying for the police cert from there/at what point are you asked for it in stage 2?

If it's on the list of required documents for your application, then yes; you need to fill it out. :pac:

They don't seem too strict on the photo, apparently; if they are not happy with it, they just ask you to take a new one. It won't jeopardize your application. ;)
Don't quote me on that though. :pac:
