Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Which, the guy with the camera being a príck or the security guards?
That was just stupid to be honest, he had ample time to get his few pictures, but instead of doing so and moving on - he had an argument with the security staff and acted like a twát. He didn't have to stay there and argue.

Stupid security folk. They had ample time to determine if any actual laws were being broken and explain to the guy if he really was doing wrong. They acted like twats. They didn't have to interact with him like that on spurious laws to re-enforce their power trip. They didn't have to stay there and argue. (read: the guy was doing nothing wrong. Why would he move on?).

Interesting video. It made me LOL.

I think the guy stayed there to prove a point and to get it all on video knowing he would gain a few YouTube hits for it.
He was well within his rights to stay there and photograph whatever he wanted.
Some parts of the UK have Anti-loitering laws as far as I know, I'm not sure if this would have been considered loitering or not.

    ^^^^^

Who the hell claims to have 20 years experience and posts a poorly cropped picture, that is not even correctly or horizontally alined, yes Im being pedantic but if some one says:
I've been taking photographs for international clients for two decades.

should have the common respect for the industry to put in the effort in when processing images.
    and then
I am the author and photographer of 5 photo books.
Well any one with half an ounce of understanding can do that its nothing new... Doesn't mean he knows what he talking about maybe he's just a **** photographer with a good agent...

Maybe thats why it look so gloomy :(

    Sorry folks :o

are you saying that professionals must only ever post camera club perfect images?

What I'm saying if your going to waffle on about the doom of photography as a profession and post a picture at the top ( i.e. that dude blog). I would expect that the writer would have the pride considering he's got 20 years experence to correctly process there work to a Professional grade.. Not half ass it.

A photographers work is defined bye his pictures, Ansal Adams said you don't take a picture, you make it... meaning its much bout the processing as it is about the picture it self.

I never said anything about Camera club.

What makes you feel that that picture isn't of a 'Professional grade' ? What defines a picture of 'Professional grade' ?

Ok the crop is pretty poor, would you agree theres a lot of undesirable look lines that are different widths and heights which make it look some what messy and untidy to look at..

perfect example and some what similar http://www.oneseason.de/ look at the crop it neat and tidy its symmetrical ... you don't just leave undesirables in a picture it doesn't make it look any better it show lack of for sight with in you photographic abilities thats my issue....

what defines professional work... of the top of my head... couple

    it's a blog, for god's sake. not a portfolio.
plus, some of the links you provided there link to work which is simply ****ing *hideous*. and they *are* portfolio sites.

Weather you find something hideous is entirely up to you Im not going to argue that point:)...I will how ever argue the point that a blog is as important as your, portfolio website.

If you've got 20 years, experience in a field and you've written 5 books. which Mr Kirk has. My expectations maybe different to yours but there first things i look at is weather the shot is in focus... and weather a pictures horizons are straight. Pictures should also be correctly cropped Imo.. All Im saying to me it doesn't show pride with in his work even if it its for self indulgent use, the one factor should remain the same... which is the point I'm trying to get at :o

I suspect you should examine the role of subjectivity in appraising photographs. Also, this.

looks like we can agree to disagree so.

plus, his talent (or lack thereof) has absolutely no bearing on whether his piece is correct. how about you comment on his piece, rather than on a single one of his photos?
do you have to be an award winning movie director to pass an opinion on a movie?

ahh here if you've got to resort to that..... maybe some for sight first....

well the thing is most good photographer have a bog and a website, which do you think get more traffic? I know most good photographers say there blog, people link them on face book, websites are a thing of the past between social networking and a good, blog you can make good money as photographer.. and do it for free :)

As for kirk you disagree for your reasons if, Im going to read a blog or a post that self proclaimed pro has written .. The first thing I do is look at his work, because that gives me a foundation and ability to judge were this guy is coming from. Now this is an important thing you can't just fan boy some one simply because of what they say there ability to do the job is just as important.. I can't see why your flaming me when its a fair point...

it's always easy to predict the death of something. if you're wrong, everybody forgets. if you're right, you're a guru.
i remember reading articles like that about the death of music years ago.

thats some brutal stuff. You know what would really make these guys think, a speedlight on continuous flashes while their beating someone down. Whatever it is about that flash, it triggers something in people. **FLASH FLASH FLASH** I guarantee they'd suddenly become very interested in who was firing that speedlite!

Being Cops form the USA I'm sure they would snap the camera off of you and give you a bit of a beating too. They take no sh!te over there.

While Irish guards are nowhere near as brutal as US cops over small things, they have been known to give some serious beatings to people. To be fair some of the stories I've heard from people that got beatings they where doing things where most people would say they deserved the beating but a police force should be above that kind of behaviour.

But the fact is the way things are with police forces it is a case of them against everyone else, we might see a beating as brutal but they're dealing with horrible people on a daily basis and if you learn your better off imposing your superiority over someone else that you know will turn nasty with a bit of violence it's what your going to do. It's basic animal behaviour and reactions to tense situations and as much as people like to think we're not animals we clearly are.
