Is it a little sad that I want to drive to Cork just to shop there in person?! I love those guys... definitely on the ball for dealing with orders.

If I'd any complaints to make it would be that the two shops aren't connected in some way, so I need to have two separate baskets, check out both baskets separately, pay for double shipping.

Aside from that I find they are doing less 'specials'. That was a big feature in previous years but not so much anymore.. I mean, they sort of spotlight items, but there are no packages or reduced items.

Outside CAS I love Artifolk and Jackson Art Supplies in the UK. Jackson's offer free shipping for orders over £100, I tend to use them for paint and mediums so it is actually really good value when you consider the weight involved (and an order once or twice a year means I can easily hit £100 :cool:)

It's really strange... but I can't find them anywhere in Ireland or the UK! They were really common place and they've just disappeared.

If you really want that type you could always order from Dick Blick - Pang are a good brand and Dick Blick will ship to Ireland.

I'll keep it in mind but I've spent about an hour searching online (became a bit of a personal challenge) and I can't find any locally - plenty of china markers tho' if that's any use

Also they have deffinatly stopped doing as many specials lately, probably because they dont need too. Most stuff is already not too far off the £ sterling prices :O)

If you are in Waterford any time go to Cahills in Tramore. They have some of the best value you will find in basic supplies for crafts, cardmaking, paper etc.

could anyone help me?

-epoxy resin
-wax paper
-fiberglass sheeting (it's like fiberglass that comes in strips, I was thinking of trying a conoeing shop)

basically I need to prep the epoxy and then layer the fiberglass over something, then the epoxy will harden it, giving it a rigid external.

In a word - No.
If she likes the stuff on create and craft she will never be able to buy at wholesale and sell for the price create and craft can.
To be successful on E-Bay be prepared to loose or break even for at least 12 months to gain market share and reputation, only then than can start to increase prices when you have RR customers (return revenue) - and basically the bigger power sellers will always have the ability to undercut you. The only E-bay success is to find a craft niche before it hits create and craft and that is also a must buy.
We love paper but we are fickle - we want the latest paper, but we want it now and by the time you order it, we want something else. Leaving you with piles of unwanted stock.
Are there niches?
Yes.
Can you find them - probably.
Will you succeed from Create and Craft - probably not.

Hi all, I'm desperately looking for jewellery wire that I need for a cake I'm supposed to be making for a party on Sunday. I'll be driving from Ennis to New Ross tomorrow, so any shop along or close to the route would be great ie. Clare, Limerick, Tipp, Waterford, Wexford. Any ideas?

Sorry, but the nearest one I can think off is the Galway Bead shop. Does it have to be jewellery wire? Would florist wire do? Or maybe you can find something in a haberdashers?

I'm afraid that florist wire wouldn't really be suitable for going into a cake though, I'd say there must be some dodge chemicals in it. Although may I could wrap it in something to stop it getting in contact with the cake. Just thought jewellery wire would be of better quality. I'm going to try in a florists just in case they have something suitable though.

Jewellery wire would not automatically be better, because it would depend on what metal it was made from - could be anything from aluminium, copper, brass, or an alloy (or sterling silver or gold if you want to really splash out!)
So you might have to wrap in something anyway.

I find that sometimes the stores that you can find on ebay can be very good, depending on what you are looking for of course. I recently ordered some things off there that I could not really have found in any shops in my area and the shipping and everything was extremely cheap. Just make sure that you check the quality of the card etc, before you buy

I had to write to say that there is a little wool shop in Drogheda, Co Louth that I stumbled upon by chance this week as its not on the internet anywhere ('They are keeping it simple'). It is a little treasure of a place and the assistants were very helpful and told me what wool and how much of it I needed and are always on hand to answer any questions I have with the pattern. It's also very reasonably priced compared to the wool on the internet. They will also be holding knitting classes for a fiver at half 7 on mondays from sept 13th 2010. Drop in when you need to for a lesson. I am new to knitting so its great that there is a place like this close by.

A4 art in thomas street is way cheaper than most, limited stock, but overall great for the pocket, i get mystuff tehre all the time...staff are cool too.

Ideal office supplies in Dundalk are opening a new store in Seatown Dundalk
they had a shop in the retail which sadly burned down a few weeks ago
they are very reasonably and the more you buy you may get a discount if you ask i have always found them very helpful and if there is something special you need they will try to get them for you:D

Im finding a lot of the stores a bit pricy at the moment or out of stock.. Id love a big warehouse packed to the brim where can just get everything. Someone suggested the Kings Hall Fair in November but to include travel costs im wondering will it be worth my while.......

What about the RDS fair at the end of October? (assuming you're in the Dublin area). It's called Knit and Stitch but they sell supplies for all kinds of crafts.
About twice as many exhibitors as King's Hall, and loads of workshops and demos.

Well this was the thing I suggested to a demonstrator in a store I was planning the RDS & she suggested Kings Hall. I need card making supplies. I came out of 2 suppliers in the last week with 1 single bag from each having left €100 in return. very little value

I normally only recommend the King's Hall for people just starting out, because it's less overwhelming than the RDS. It is less expensive if you have access to sterling at a good exchange rate.
Most of the exhibitors at both shows are from the UK but they have to pay the Irish VAT rate of 21% at the Dublin show (17.5% at the Belfast show). Most of the UK exhibitors overcompensate for this added expense, and for having to display their prices in Euro (they used to display all prices in Sterling), so a lot of them charge more at the RDS than the King's Hall. But if you pay by credit card, you generally get the sterling price converted at your card's exhange rate so that works out a little cheaper.

But if you're looking for particular cardmaking stuff, just PM me and I'll tell you what my prices are.

If you place a comment in the comment section of Cork Art Supplies/Cardznscrapz saying you've placed an order on both sites they only charge the one p&p. Great service that way.

I've used Sculpey and it's pretty much the same as classic Fimo (Fimo Soft is less crumbly).
I haven't tried Urdo but I know someone who has and they say there isn't a big difference working with it - it's slightly cheaper but doesn't come in as many colours.

Depends on what you are looking for... I wouldn't mind scouting around second hand shops or ebay for a nice vintage bottle.

If you want to go the quick and easy route you could just go to the supermarket and have a look around for a nice bottle, empty/decant the contents into something else and remove the labeling.

I'd soak the bottle in warm water and dish washing liquid for a while. Then rub off the labels. I'd remove any residue with any of the following: an eraser, nail varnish remover, baby oil/vaseline, mayonnaise, aftershave or perfume. If any of those fail (yet to happen with me) then you can buy stuff, I'm not 100% sure but I think I seen something on Cork Art Supplies. If you give them a bell they'll be able to tell you.

Then give the bottle a good wash and leave to dry.

How about this? This is an excellent Dublin store, I've used them before and am a happy customer!

Now if you want to go online I'd recommend Cork Art Supplies... they do some fantastic sets: clicky and clicky.

Their delivery is really good and if you order early in the day you can almost guarantee to have delivery by the next day. If you are really pushed about getting it asap I'd give the guys down there a call, there is every chance they'd be happy expedite the shipping if you are willing to pay (but honestly, their delivery times are excellent).
