Nope, he's retired from professional rugby and playing with Kanturk now. Think he is back to doing the plumbing or sparks or whatever he was before a professional rugby player.

Nope. As Teferi says he is back with his home original club Kanturk and is playing AIL with them. He is doing some coaching there and working as a plumber

    In before Hanrahan.

Darren Hudson is lacking some love here, and Tom Sexton and Ed O Donohue. Any info?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Danny Barnes scored two tries for the Newcastle Falcons A side on Monday night against Northampton to help them qualify for the semi finals of the Premiership 'A' league.

Ed O Donoghue is playing with Queensland Red is he not?
Hudson with Bristol. Saw him come off the bench for Bristol against Connacht Eagles in Sportsground in British and Irish Cup a couple of months ago. Is involved quite a bit in their side. They should be in premiership next season

I was always gonna miss someone, updated now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

In addition to the above list... does anyone know where Philip Donnellan is these days?

Andrew Farley and Adam D'Arcy were born outside Ireland but both qualify, playing for Grenoble and Bristol respectively, I think.

I couldn't remember if Cillian Willis had retired or not, his wikipedia page tells me he retired in 2013 to pursue a career in "magic and dark art" :p Tommy Hayes retired recently enough too.

Have any of Scott Deasy, Aaron Conneelly, Timmy Ryan found a club abroad?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Oh, and James Downey would be a relatively big-name one. At Glasgow now. Oh, and Leo Auva'a.

As far as I know, Charlie Simpson is in the Aurillac academy, full back from Ballymena Academy played Irish Schools.

Nigel Brady now has a role within Ulster Rugby, was temporarily kit man, coaching Dungannon 1st XV as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,153 ✭✭✭Glass Prison 1214

Neither Farley or D'Arcy are still playing for those clubs I believe. Your right about James Downey, updated now. Leo Auva'a is no longer eligable for Ireland now that he has left.

Dave Nolan left Connacht for Bourgoin in the pro D2 this year

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Tim Ryan is a coach (could be player coach) with a Cork club, Dolphin, I think, he featured for Munster A in the B&I Cup recently.

Donnellan is in UCD doing a PHD
Timmy Ryan with Highfield in UBL
Conneelly is with Lansdowne playing UBL afaik

Gilsenan finally seems be making some headway in London Irish these days. He has serious competition in front of him in the form of Blair Cowan, but he's impressed in the last few games and got a start today.

He's a good player just had too much competition over here in fairness

Irish really bad and dealing with injuries though. Was man shamed a little bit by Billy Vunipola towards the end of today's game. He came around and caught Vunipola completely static off the back of the scrum yet still managed to be fended off badly. Decent game otherwise though.

I was impressed with him when he came out west on loan, if we didnt have faloon and heenan in situ he would have been perfect for us. Delighted to see him stepping up out there

The LI fans are very impressed with him anyway, citing his work-rate. He made 15 tackles today and 14 tackles last week in just 40 mins.

Where did Scott Deasy settle when he left Munster, did he get a foreign job?

I remember a stage where I was calling him to start a knockout game ahead of ROG and Keatley.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,197 ✭✭✭✭Buer

He's outhalf for Lansdowne...he replaced Ronadlson. Scored a try in a big win away to Tarf the other night.

Thanks, I thought he would have gone abroad instead and gotten a contract somewhere.

I wonder if Leinster might sniff around for him on a short term deal during the rwc, with gopperth gone and madigan/sexton off to the rwc ala willis a few years back.

He's suing the IRFU for an eye injury he sustained when training with Ireland. A cord snapped and caught him in the eye or something like that.

People have been using this for years as a reason why we will never see him employed by the IRFU again. I've written before about how this is a misconception many people have about what "x is suing y" means. It doesn't necessarily mean any falling out between party x and y.

TOL was injured while training with Ireland. Irish training sessions will be insured by the IRFU. There are a myriad of ways that this injury could lead to TOL suing the IRFU.

One possible example. There were medical bills incurred and TOL may also have personal medical insurance. There may be a dispute about which insurer pays the bills (ie a dispute between insurance companies) or a dispute about whether compensation is due in excess of the medical bills.

I'd strongly suspect that case is essentially someone suing an insurance company.
