Merging this with my original thread to save starting a new one. Altering title to suit.

    Sounds like fun.
My .223 is in the Garage.
Can I use my .308 as it is a hunting rifle?

I had planned on attending the .22lr shoot at ECSC.

Then, this thread was posted. This date was posted as a "Deer" shoot on the MNSCI site so I assumed I would not have been able to enter.

    Unfortunately, I can't attend both :o

I have decided that as I'm a member of MNSCI I should support this competition.

    :(

    Dyslexia lures KO?

    I'll bring the .308 so

I'd be more confident with the .223, but she'll have to do!

And I'll bring the 22lr just to give you a chance of getting a place in the rankings. :p:)

I'll look forward to this, I doubt I will get a place in the rankings as the snap shooting will be hard for me as I rarely do it.

Would I be right in saying 24 rounds for comp?

Yes. Once you have the "S" on your license absolutely no problems.
Would I be right in saying 24 rounds for comp?

Also correct. 24 rounds plus whatever ye lads need for zeroing before the comp.

Ok, not a bad set up. 24 rounds+ 2-3 to test wind drift and Zero.
    Sounds like fun.

Since this is a FUN shoot and open to NON Members with Insurance and Licences with them; could it be posted on the General shooting Forum to get more exposure?

Come down ! It'll be a bit of fun if nothing else :)

And don't worry you'll not be on your own when it comes to making a fool of yourself, I usually do a good job of that too ;)

Rules are if it takes place on a range, irrespective of format, its target shooting and this is the forum for it.

Sounds like another fun day out!

    Two questions:

    1. Are muzzle brakes allowed be used?
    2. Is it open to all rifles (i.e. Would someone such as my goodself be able to use ones TRG perhaps)?

It's nice to have so much choice of competitions to shoot, all on the one day!:)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 28,796 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cass

Everything is allowed including, but not limited to:
    • Muzzle breaks
    • Moderators
    • Peep Sights
    • Scopes
    • Iron sights
    • Smallbore rifles
    • Air rifles
    • Fullbore
    • F/TR
    • F-Open
    • Semi auto
    • Bolt action
    • Single shot
    .............. the list goes on.

There are no limitations as to the type of rifle or accessories/extras you use. Once your licensed its fair game.

    Thanks, ezridax.

Do you know if one can shoot in both the rimfire and centrefire classes? Or does one have to just pick one?

Not sure if I can spare the centrefire ammo, but wouldn't mind giving the ol' girl one last outing doing what she was designed to do best.:o

Otherwise, I'll just have to "settle" for using my CZ.

There shouldn't be a problem with re-entering with another caliber rifle. The only thing that may limit this is the turnout.

The details will not be too long. The first detail will be 1 - 1.5 minutes. The second detail about a minute or less. If we get through them quick enough we can have lads re-entering with a second rifle. My advice would be to register with the rifle you wish to use first then register your second rifle as your "fallback" or second choice if the opportunity presents itself.

To answer another question about insurance. NARGC insurance is more than adequate. Any insurance that normally covers a shooter will suffice.

Also i have been informed that the 100mtr sheltered range will be available to shooters between 10am and 11am for zeroing, but the lads at the range have set aside 2 target boards on the windmill range, away from the main shooters to allow lads to properly rezero for 100yds or if they wish to check/adjust, etc their rifle. You simply inform one of the ROs that you want to zero and they will set you up so you can do so as the comp is being shot.

Now that's out of order. ;)
Anyone entering a comp should be zeroed in out of the box and know what the drop to each 25y to a target will be. Just like I does.

    Now where's my glasses. :(

Shaping up to be a good crowd!

I only heard about this by accident on a tread on the hunting section.

All ye target shooters are keeping this kind of stuff to your selves long enough.
I'm going to have to call up there and see what this is all about.

Sounds like hunting only you get a do over.

I cant wait to meet up with ye all and put some faces to the clever names.

Hopefully we will get to see this famous .204 of bunnies. I don't know if I will be able to control my self :p:p
