Huge rainfaill totals by 6am Sunday morning in places here (Hills/mountains in Galway, Mayo, Donegal.). 200mm. There will be flash flooding and a risk of landslides on high ground if this is correct. A lot less on lower levels obviously.

Far too early to say. At this stage, it looks like potential for a cool down with wintry showers next weekend, northern parts and high ground obviously most likely to see any snow.

Before anything it looks like we'll have plenty of heavy rain next week and maybe some more strong winds at times.

Waterlogged field beside the house after the rain this morning, pond across the road is full again and the ducks on it are delighted, me, i hate it, come back dry weather, come back

Latest UK Met Office warning update mentions up to 250mm on high ground. They are one notch away from a red warning on their warning matrix. Looks like similar amounts could be experienced here over high ground in the west/northwest, and this is just up until 6pm tomorrow. More wet weather to follow after this.

Hmm unusually strong winds here in west clare yet no wind warning at all!

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,100 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo

I can safely say the wettest day here in Castlebar in a long long time, its very dark, heavy and persistent rain all day with flooding on the cards.

Yeah I'm a little surprised there's no wind warning. Nothing severe but inland gusts up to 100 km'h look possible.

Met Eireann's criteria for a yellow warning is the following :"Mean Speeds between 50 and 65 km/h
    Gusts between 90 and 110 km/h"

If the map above is accurate, then by ME's own criteria there should be a yellow warning.

At 1712: wind at SNN is 30kts mean speed, or 55.5km/h. Fairly well within the yellow criteria.

were certainly making up for the relatively dry period of June-early November with more rain in the past week than what Ive seen in half a year. Garden and fields behind me are very wet, large pools of water in places.

Fairly heavy rain in Galway now you wouldn't think it from looking at the radar winds picking up also

Yeah we live at the bottom of a field, so the water can gather and theres a lot of water lying after this morning, 1st time in about 3 years iv'e seen it happening.
