    I agreed this week to pay 3K+ to change my body for cosmetic purposes only, with no apparent physical health benefit.



    Basically its getting a strabismus corrected (to <10%) from >30%
    It got worse lately and I feel now I can afford to get it corrected I an right to do so. What say you?

    How do they correct that? If it's affecting your confidence then it's hardly "just" for vanity purposes.

    Tbh unless it was a major part of your character I wouldn't say you're changing part of who you are.

    Oh I have to be "awake" at the end so my eye reaction can be monitored and alignment corrected more accurately.

    Personally I consider some of it pointless (tit jobs, face lifts etc) but only in a vague enough way. If something makes you happy and you can afford it, why not.

    I was also thinking of cosmetic rather than corrective surgery, by the way.

    I don't think being crosseyed is a key part of me.

    I said no but I had plastic surgery, liposuction, Botox etc in mind. I pay a lot for hairdressing due to premature grey hair which I refuse to let show at all and don't dye myself due to colour build up. I would also get corrective surgery if I needed it for cosmetic reasons, for example if I was ever badly scarred I would then consider cosmetic surgery. Otherwise no. What is the point? Many older celebrities who have had a lot of surgery in order to stay looking 'young' just look plain weird and unnatural.

    I would consider surgery for strabismus to be corrective rather than cosmetic. Best of luck OP.

    Will definitely get a hair transplant with the next.few years.

    Losing my hair has had a horrible effect on my confidence in every way. Never would have thought it possible but I think.it will be worth the 6k spend abroad if it makes me happy about myself. I won't be doing it to impress anyone else but myself

    how is it different to a boob job if a lady felt her boobs were too small/big?

    I've had brain surgery, so that part doesn't scare me. Just the philosophy of altering my body permanently for aesthetic reasons. I appreciate all the genuine feedback.

    Am I overthinking it?

    I was talking about myself. If someone feels their boobs are too big or too small and it distresses them then they should do it if they want to. I have a friend who had a reduction due to boobs so large that she was getting postural and back problems, I consider that corrective too.

    What do you mean by the question? Is what a vanity project?

    It is important to you, OP. That's all that matters.

    Personally, I have a neck like a jockey's bollix, am far from an oil painting, but couldn't care less. But I completely understand when people want to make something "go away". Its a personal progression.
