    Hi Lads,

Sorry to Hijack the conversation. Hope this is the best thread for this.

I was interested in possibly joining the society. Just wanted to know how open to new members you are ? Is there any steps one must take to join ?

I'm new to playing golf, have watched most my life. I started last year because it was something I always wanted to do and played quite a bit over the summer. Unfortunately my two playing partners are a bit older than myself and have family commitments so I haven't played since last summer. This would be my main reason in looking to join a society.

Couple of concerns would be I don't drive and I'm not the best golfer in the world. Don't want to be holding people up. I took a few lessons last year and they really helped. Towards the end of the summer, I was shooting in the high 80s/ Low 90s. So safe to say I'm not a natural :) That being said there was one day I went out and couldn't move the ball out of my way :(

Everybody is welcome Moat - we have all levels playing.

Not driving isn't a big deal as we have people from all over the place and I'm sure you'll be able to get a lift to most outings.

What part of the country are you in?

    You staying over Tiger ?

Owe you a pint from last year :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 311 ✭✭tigerwood1

    I would have said
    Regan eve
    Macker 45/40
    TIGER 2/1
    space and 3 putt 40/1
    Me self 79/1
    ss bob 180/1
    Charlie 1000/1[/QUOTE

Here Fixit i'll have a pony at that 2/1 :).
I have to say i think this is a lot more open than appears at 1st glance.
Space/3 putt/ssbob have much bigger chances than above prices suggest fixit would want to stick to the day job:pac:. I was genuinely sad to see regan will not be playing in the last two, had the pleasure of playing with him in ballykisteen with games in hand with his solid game made him a justified low odds on.

    revised book:)

    Macker 1/2 [no pressure]
    tiger 5/2
    space 4/1
    3putt 11/2
    ssbob 10/1
    20/1 bar

I'm glad Macker has gone on to prove that an ESR was due to be honest. He has got cut in GUI to where he was clearly showing the ability to play off....
    And that's super.

Far from Macker bashing, unfortunately he was at the centre an ESR debate.
For calling us Macker bashers.... I'll be rooting for him as a result :)

I am starting one now - holeinone has a hotel and we need numbers for anyone who wants to stay over for a few beers etc.

Everyone who needed to has been adjusted as per the BGS rules, there are a few who's GUI has dropped more than 2 shots from their BGS handicap and they too have been cut (including me, I lost 5 shots at the start of the year!)
