Finished off my Wicklow cottage supply of Bushmills last night :p

No really, my flatmate got me a hip flask for chrimbo. I'm officially old but awesome.

I was drinking Harp over Christmas and it is actually not a bad beer. Would definitely rate it higher than the Budweisers, Carlsbergs and Coors of this world.

Calling Budweiser and Coors beer is an insult to real beers anyway.

A golden Labrador puppy befriended us on a hike today and we had to drive him for an hour across Wicklow to the dog rescue. Poor fella was so desperate to find a family that he started chasing the car as we drove away; didn't want him to get run over so we brought him back to the house we found him at, only for the weird old guy in the house to basically tell us to PFO. Said the dog was a stray that had just shown up a few days earlier :(

Loaded his wet, bedraggled self into the boot and he freaked out the entire journey, constantly trying to climb into the back seat with us. He kept licking my hand as I petted him and tried to keep him calm. Was tough going as he stank, and facing the wrong way made me car sick and I wanted to hurl. Once we got the rescue we handed him over but he desperately wanted to stay with us. Poor White Fang :(

Fair play to you for going out of your way to help the dog out anyway. Hopefully someone will give him a good home.

Labs are very very intelligent dogs and loyal for life..

I hate seeing dogs suffer like that, well any animal suffer actually but I have a real soft spot for dogs. :(

There never really was any other option once we realised he was there alone. Hope they find a good home for him alright, he was a complete sweetheart. Feel really bad for him.

The wind howling and rain lashing outside.
On the inside. A comfortable chair. A roaring fire. A fine brandy and a John le Carre novel. The simple life for me.

Damn you chest infection, you're ruining what's left of my holidays!

Watched 12 Years a Slave last night. Very tough to watch I have to say but some fine performances in it, would recommend it but it is long and again - some scenes aren't for the faint hearted

    Wouldn't mind seeing that myself.

Myself and the bird are going to the cinema either today or tomorrow. She wants to see Anchorman 2, Id rather scour my nads off with a rusty brillo pad.

Hoping to compromise by going to see Last Vegas instead.

Other than that, twill be a moochy moochy weekend for me!

I really wanted to see Anchorman 2, but I've heard some very indifferent reviews. I'll probably just wait and download it instead. I suppose it was never going to be up there with the first one.

Damn, we made the wrong call on Wednesday. It was either that or Paranormal Activity. It had some really good jumpy moments towards the end, but it was pretty poor overall. The scariest part of the whole thing was driving home, down the creepy shortcut road :pac:

I couldn't watch them on my own! I've gotten a lot better with horror. A couple of months ago I could only watch them with my bf, and only if he was staying over. It helped to reduce those "is that a normal creaking noise or a ghost/muderer coming to kill me" moments in the middle of the night.

Actually i'd probably watch one during the day if there were people in the house. With guns.
