If it's been well minded, I don't see the problem. You could easily buy a pile of dung with under 100k miles.

I don't think mileage really matters that much at this price range tbh. The E46 has a very recent NCT so at least you know it probably doesn't have major suspension or emissions problems. Considering how easily cars are clocked anyway you can't 100% trust low mileage cars anyway! To be fair though pushing 200k miles is quite a lot.
Thats ok if you trust the NCT, I put a car through the test with the clutch gone, could just about get 1st and 3rd gear, no reverse gear, passed test with only a slight comment about first gear being a bit sticky.

Fathers Galant passed the NCT with the same problem as your car. Think the giant hole in the gear box spewing oil went down as a fail advisory if memory serves me right.

    NEW TURBO JUST FITTED

NEW ENGINE NEEDED NEXT. Ruunnnnnnnnnnn!!!!! :p

Well, it is depend of how long he was running on failed turbo, even then, it would end up only on fecked catalytic converter. remember wheeler dealers, they had one saab with broken turbocharger, replaced, and all went good. main thing is no oil leak in to intercooler, and getting burned in burning chambers, causing wee lot blue ish smoke.

There's just no way you could buy that without factoring in a sump drop and clean. All too often those Saabs block the strainer in the sump and oil starvation causes turbo failure. Obviously the owner (unbeknownst to him of the saabism lurking) banks on the turbo being blown, pops in a new one and off they go only for the oil light to flash at them 3 miles down the road. It's then the figure out the extent of their problem and the car is promptly popped up on donedeal. Now I'm not suggesting anything but ........

Someone just got a valuable lesson about one of the most mentioned (and imho one of the best value) bangernomics out there, the Saab 9-5. This bit of advice could very well make the difference between buying a useless banger that just loses the new owner a grand, or buying a nearly as good as new car that will last for many more years...

This thread is very much about advice too, not just throwing up pics and links to bangers

    FFS! :p

I would say no, not much more money would see you with a 100,000 mile car imo.

Crucial point. I wouldn't be too afraid myself of high mileage cars, but the fact is that a low mileage car can generally be had for about the same money these days

Plenty of (petrol) fish left in the sea :D

Fine looking car possibly find of the year. Colour won't be a deterrent. White is the new black

Cloth seats in a 7 series!

Cloth seats in a 7 series!

They were fairly standard in early 90's on 7 series. Leather was available as an option. Could pick up a leather interior at a Salvage yard if so inclined

Savage find. If I had a proper job I'd be handing over 850 euros for that.

That 7 series has to be the find of the year, looks like a very honest ad.

I'd much rather have comfort seats with cloth than standard seats with leather in an E38 tbh ;)

Agree with LM - looks like a very honest ad. The bit about his long trip, the mileage and the RPMs is spot on.

Between the Jag posted by Saab Ed, and now the white 7-series - its been a good few days for luxonomics! :D

Given the tax is the same and not much difference in purchase price, would there not be an argument for just getting a 750 rather than 730?

Brand new NCT though. Can't have it both ways. There a bulletproof motor, I'd pick it over a early 90's 7 series for reliability.

Tax it for a year, sell it on in 6 months for virtually the same price or more. Cheap luxury motoring at that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭RidleyRider

Cheap alfa 145 a fun car 13 months NCT and will tax for 6 months €1350, not a bad little car cheap enough to run and easy to insure.

Can't help but notice the age of the add and you're a new poster, Any links between these:p

That car is about 300% overpriced.
