We had a full days work yesterday!

I washed and dry-waxed my car, we washed CM's engine bay, fixed a clunk in my car which turned out to be a missing bolt on the anti roll bar thanks to my mechanic not putting it back when I got the OEM springs put back in

I used my G-Techniq trim restorer on CM's wing mirrors and it brought them from a gre/white back to a lovely, smooth, black factory finish. I'm well pleased with that purchase!

We then gave CM's headlights a refurb while conzymaher ripped out every piece of trim from his car and CM's car.

After all that, CM then took pictures of my car in the dark using long exposure while he danced around the garden with a flashlight

    I now have conzenons :D

Brought my car to the doc yesturday as I think I may have being a bit paranoid about a noise in the engine.

Said there was a bit of a noise but nothing to worry about so I'm happy :)

He also thightend the nuts on my wheels as they were loose after me fixing them twice when I put the road wheels back on as I do t expect winter anymore. Can't explain why they kept coming lose.

    I'm such a pleb.

But thanks to the doc for being great.

Or should I say Astra man ! :pac:

Yeah, spotted those, are they from a marea or hgt?
I always liked the big bumper marea front end with the projector headlamps, always said if I crashed my old brava badly enough, I'd get them to bolt those parts on instead!

Went to change a bulb on the 2, read I have to remove the lamp itself and some panels...had visions it was going to be like the time I had to change a bulb on a mates megane! Thankfully its pretty straight forward...takes about 5 minutes per side at a steady pace..

1 Bulb down :( [keeping up with 30% of motorists :P]

    img0330large.jpg

    H4 bulb kit - 6.50 from Aldi

    img0328large.jpg

Safety First Remove the 30A RTR fuse from the front fuse box (controls the headlight motors)

Remove the plastic case (4 screws), and chrome HL surround (4 scrws)

    img0331largex.jpg

    img0332large.jpg

Thethered screws on all thefront headlight fittings (Just thought it was a nice touch!)

    img0333large.jpg

Changed the both headlights (new bulb was alot brighter)

    img0335largeo.jpg

.........think its time to take a spin with the T-Bar glass out with the weather were having today!

From a petrol Marea :) have been looking for a diesel front for ages! Projectors were easy to wire up :)

Got them originally as I made bits of my bumper on my old car after running over a hare... Standard wings were rotten and beat in! So I changed the whole lot :) When I got the blue Bravo, the wings were punched in and rusty too. Conveniently, the bumper was taken off :pac: Once resprayed, fitted perfect :)

As for today, got the 166 and the Polo cleaned up :)

The marea diesel bumper is the same as the 20v petrol right?

Yes the same bumper :) diesel bumper has ducts for the intercooler and oil cooler, I don't think the 20v had an oil cooler (open to corrections)

There was an alternative diesel bumper I don't think we got that in Ireland...

Engine, gear and diff oil changed in the RX8 yesterday - I did a fantastic job of standing about, handing over various socket wrenches and biscuit tins for oil-gathering :D

This week I shall be mostly trying to figure out how to change a sidelight bulb without dislocating my wrist

Put the dash back in today only to realize it has to come back out to fix a leak that is still in the firewall

Anyway the picture on the left is what my car looked like when I bought it(not my car, taken from bimmerforums)

All my work was for this

Here is what it looks like in the dark without the steering wheel connected

And here is the leather re-dye
    DSC_0095.JPG

    Left half is done.

I'll have more pictures to show next weekend hopefully :)

EDIT: No idea how to scale images. Look fine to me on 1080p but not sure about lower resolutions.

Love the e36 facelift centre console. How much did it cost you?

Love the e36 facelift centre console. How much did it cost you?

The radio was €200. Could have got a rover one for €150 but it has slightly different text and a rover logo:o

The OBC retrofit cost €100 and took ages since I wired everything under the carpet and taped it up with fabric tape.
    DSC_0113.JPG
You can see it on the floor at the left. It goes into the carpet and comes out at the front near the big hole :P All soldered and heat shrunk as well except for one wire out to the speed sensor. Will do that next week.

And the digital climate control was free since my couse has a parts E36 and it was too much work for him to do it :D

The steering wheel cost €250 because I bought an E39 steering wheel for the buttons and an E36 M-Tech wheel because it's smaller and fits better and the slip ring was seperate.

The cruise control retrofit cost €120 originally since it was on the stalks but I am moving it to steering wheel so I had to buy an E46 cruise module which is gonna cost €30.

Sounds bad when I type all the numbers...

Worth the work to me :P Not worth it to sell it. I just ordered a dice media bridge so gonna pop out one of the blanking plates in the middle and make a USB/AUX input there. Gonna try have them lit as well.

Then install the Harmon Kardon sound system next weekend and put the Hifi switch in beside that.

And then heated seats with the original switches. Basically I want everything the car can take :D

Picture from the day I bought it
    30437_134021689953318_100000364635397_244439_5030110_n.jpg

Newest one I have. Missing trim is now on it and number plate in the right spot. And fog lights in.
    28757124997316169150310.jpg

Was thinking of spraying the alloys black. Not sure how it would turn out though.

I'm gonna wait until the summer and maybe get it resprayed. The bonnet needs it which will need the wings blended. And then just small marks around the car that I would like to get redone.

Then once I get a new car as a daily I will think about putting an M3 evo engine into it. But for now it will stay a 318is With more options than most higher models. :)
