Out on 28 and right to sweep over Malahide estuary by the looks of it. Seems to be going northeast direction initially

Aye, they've buggered off to Shannon.

Whats the betting the passengers will be on to Joe Duffy tomorrow ?

But on the bright side, they won't have to listen to that annoying fanfare Ryanair play when a flight arrives on time. :pac:

That sounds a little more realistic. Air Force 1 used to come to LHR but the disruption could no longer be handled so Stansted was agreed. But then all plans have had to be changed due to the Icelandic Volcano. The ash is expected over Irish Aispace at 4am in the morning I think.

Don't think you can for UK airports.

    Dang it. Why's that?

Having trouble finding a stansted atc feed..

you wont, according to a 1942 law its illegal to broadcast air traffic control communications (as well as anything else that is not designed for general public broadcast)

    info gleaned from here

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,306 ✭✭✭phonypony

No UK feeds due to their regulations. I was able to hear AF1 and SAM91 on the scanner on Scottish and London frequencies until about the Manchester area, but that was it...

Amateur question here, but when you say AF1 took off on runway 28, does that mean that the plane started at the east end of the 10/28 runway & took off heading westerly?

Assuming I'm right above, then if it was runway 10, the plane would start at the west end and take off heading easterly?

It took off into the west heading 280, then turned right heading north initally and then north east, which brought it out over the coast north of the estuary at Malahide.

So it started it's takeoff on the east side of runway 10/28

I just heard on 118.6 that there is a fault on the runway.

Can't say I blame them tbh. Not that its ATC's fault either.

I don't see the point in closing the entire airport for an hour to accommodate one v.i.p.
I have been in JFK when Obama was flying out. He landed by chopper, drove to AF1, when they were ready to taxi all outbound movements were stopped for 15-20 mins until AF1 took off then it continued on, no inbound movements were disturbed.
Obviously in DUB with only a single runway we are more constrained, but closing for 20-30 minutes seems perfectly adequate to me.

Looks like AF1 parked up beside MO'L1 at Stansted. :pac:

Around about 30 seconds into the video.
