I know the second half against Limerick was good but they were really just giving some younger players a go at a higher level and trying a new style of play. Clare had Kilkenny at them the whole game even if it wasn't the real Kilkenny it was still a Cody team. Both teams look like they have a strong panel and with the style of play they adopt, the players that are missing won't count for much in the greater scheme of things. The subs used might. I'd have great confidence in Waterford provided they start reasonably well. Will this be a cracker or a dour niggly one, Galvin is the ref so it should be the former. I think this Sunday could be the start of a future Laochra Gael episode.

And I'm seriously not stirring here but the amount of time the two Fives lads give away possession either by poor passes or booming clearances to unmarked sweepers is a worry. I'd hav no doubt McGrath has spotted this and is working on rectifying. As I said I expect a battle here against a highly motivated and talented Clare team where a win and a second league title would be a great but not essential step in our quest this year.
